Chapter 168 - Han Yue Xiu's Anger

After helping her mother with some hospital procedure, Han Yue Xiu went up to visit her mother.

As she walked along the corridor, Han Yue Xiu spotted Song Yi from afar and saw that he was on the phone.

Strangely, that guy chose to stick around even though he was supposed to leave last night.

Although she was grateful for Song Yi's help, at this moment, Han Yue Xiu was too preoccupied in her mind to pay any attention to Song Yi. Her mind was thinking about her mother and how should she face her.

Han Yue Xiu was angered that her parents chose to keep a secret.

After interrogating her father, Han Yue Xiu learned that it was her mother's choice to keep her health matter a secret from her. It turned out that her parents had found out about her mother's condition even before she came to S Country.

If it was not because she had found her mother sprawling on the ground, she would know nothing about it.

Han Yue Xiu stood outside her mother's ward for a long time. From the slightly ajar door, Han Yue Xiu could hear her parents whispering voice.

Her knuckle rested at the door. She just needed to give it a slight push and the door would swing open. But at this moment, Han Yue Xiu did not know why she was hesitant to do so.

Taking a deep breath to compose herself, Han Yue Xiu then knocked on the door before she pushed the door open.

Her heart felt a tug and her eyes stung seeing her mother lying on the hospital bed. She stepped inside slowly and immediately averted her gaze as she put a bag of food that she brought with her on the table.

After a few seconds, Han Yue Xiu lifted her gaze to meet her mother's. Her parents were staring at her silently and there was a hint of worry on their face.

At this moment, Han Yue Xiu suddenly felt a surge of anger. However, as she looked at her mother's pale expression, she was forced to suppress this feeling. And this anger made her wanted to cry.

Forcing down this conflicted thought inside of her, Han Yue Xiu chose to sit down or else, she might start to lash at her parents.

Seeing that her daughter had sat down at the chair without saying a word to her, Mother Han then turned to look at her husband.

Father Han cleared his throat, hinting that he understood his wife's intention. After mentioning that he needed to go out to buy some porridge for her mother, Father Han made his escape. He knew at this time, there was a lot of things that the mother and daughter needed to talk about.

Han Yue Xiu took out her phone and kept her head down to avoid starting the impending conversation.

"Yue Xiu," Mother Han called out her name softly.

Han Yue Xiu replied to her with a soft hum without even looking up.

Mother Han let out a soft sigh as she watched her daughter's attitude. Of course, being her mother, Mother Han knew exactly that her daughter was keeping her silence to hold down her anger.

She could imagine what her daughter might feel when she found her lying on the floor yesterday.

As she thought of the way to start this conversation with her daughter, Mother Han let out a small cough.

Mother Han took a sip as she peeked at her daughter. Although she could sense her daughter's anger, Mother Han knew that Han Yue Xiu was jworried.

In the end, it was her fault for keeping her health a secret. At least, Mother Han was aware of why she deserved her daughter's anger.

Sensing that Han Yue Xiu was about to return to her seat, Mother Han quickly grabbed her hand to prevent her from leaving.

"Yue Xiu, listen to me, alright?"

Han Yue Xiu turned to her mother with a sharp glance. She bit hard at her teeth to refrain herself from saying anything.

"I… I didn't mean to lie to you," Mother Han spoke. "I just did not want you to worry."

Hearing her mother's reason, Han Yue Xiu felt a surge of anger. "Mom, if I did not find you on the floor yesterday, will you insist on keeping this a secret?"

"Yue Xiu," Mother Han's tone was slightly pleading.

Feeling the sting on her nose, she then began to look away from her mother again. Anyway, judging from her mother's tone, Han Yue Xiu knew that her mother was silently admitting to it.

"How could you keep something like this from me?" Han Yue Xiu said in anger. She tried her best to tone down her anger as she did not want her mother's condition to worsen. "Dad said that you're planning to have the surgeries after I leave. If I did not come over to S Country to stay with you guys, are you planning on not telling me as well? Then, what should I do if something happens to you? What if I missed out on the last chance to see you?"

Seeing the tears that started to pool at her daughter's eyes made Mother Han teary as well. She had not given too much thought before she decided to keep it a secret from her daughter. And now, Mother Han could only deal with the consequences.

"This is why you were so eager to kick me out of your house, isn't it?" Han Yue Xiu continued. "No wonder you were so relieved when I told you that I'll be going back after the festival. Mom, in the end, am I still your daughter?"

"Yue Xiu," Mother Han gripped on her daughter's arm a bit tighter. Of course, she was saddened upon hearing her daughter's words, but at this moment, she could not find any words or excuse to defend herself from keeping the matter a secret from her only daughter. In the end, she could only call out her daughter's name. "Yue Xiu, I'm sorry. Mom shouldn't keep this a secret from you, alright?"

Han Yue Xiu wiped the tears that started to stream down her cheek furiously.

"I did not think things through when I made the decision," Mother Han said. "Yue Xiu, I was wrong. Will you forgive me?"

Han Yue Xiu stayed silent for a while and was unable to answer. She was still angry and it would not be easy for her to forgive her mother.

The silence between them lasted for a long time until someone came to knock on the door. Seeing that a nurse had come in to check on her mother, Han Yue Xiu wiped at her tears, grabbed her purse, and dashed out from the room to calm down.
