"Qin Yao, which color do you prefer? Blue or pink?"
"Blue," Li Qin Yao answered without hesitation. After a few seconds, Li Qin Yao noticed that it was a strange question coming from Zhang Yu Han. "Why are you asking me this?"
"Nothing. I was thinking about which necktie should I wear to the wedding. Anyway, what's wrong with wanting to know my girlfriend's preferred color?"
Li Qin Yao frowned at his answer. Somehow she had a doubt that he was choosing necktie. Or else, he would not mention pink. "Then, what color did you prefer?"
"Of course I would choose blue."
Li Qin Yao chuckled, knowing that Zhang Yu Han was probably planning something. "Zhang Yu Han, when will you arrive in Capital City?"
"Did you miss me?"
"Un. I miss you."
The smile on Zhang Yu Han's face widened.
Secretary Tian, who happened to be in the same room, preparing his coffee, suddenly stopped when she saw the Director's gentle smile. Before her boss could say anything, Secretary Tian placed the coffee mug on the table and silently retreated.
"Grandfather and I should be arriving tomorrow evening," Zhang Yu Han said as he watched the closing door.
"Grandfather will be coming too?"
"Hmm… Grandfather and Yu Ying will be coming along. Since you have invited me to attend the wedding banquet as your plus one, of course, grandfather had to come as Zhang Group's representative," Zhang Yu Han said. "But I think Grandfather only wanted to come to Capital City to eat. Assistant Huo mentioned that he surveying a few restaurants."
Li Qin Yao laughed. "Then, should I come over and pick you up at the airport?"
"It's fine. Xiao Ye will come and pick us. I'll meet you at the hotel," Zhang Yu Han said.
The two of them chatted for a while longer and soon, Li Qin Yao exited her room and met her mother in the living room. The two of them had their breakfast at the coffee house and hopped into the vehicle that Xiao Ye had prepared for them.
She had promised her mother that they will be visiting the cemetery.
After almost half an hour of travel, the two of them arrived at a cemetery area. With two bouquets of flowers in her hand, Li Qin Yao led her mother to an area, and soon, they arrived at her father's resting place.
Li Qin Yao stared at the name and picture on that tomb for a while and placed a bouquet on her father's tomb.
As Li Qin Yao continued to stare at her father's picture, her eyes started to sting and soon tears dropped on her face. It felt like has been a long time since she had come over and visited this place.
After her parents' divorce, she had stayed with her father and her grandparents. Therefore, she was closer to her father than to her mother. Back then, it was her father who taught her everything she needed to know about the property business.
When she had to step down from her position after that scandal, Li Qin Yao did not dare to come to this place again. She thought that she had disappointed her father.
Turning her gaze around, Li Qin Yao then stared at the tomb not far away from her father's. She put another bouquet down and on the tomb and stared at the picture of her brother that she had never met. This brother was also the reason why her mother did not like to drink alcohol.
Before her parents had her, they had a son. Her brother was the first child for her parents and the first grandchild for her grandparents. He was bright and cute. Naturally, he was well-loved by everyone.
However, when he was five years old, a drunk driver hit him and he died on the spot. When he passed away, everyone was devastated.
Her paternal grandparents were blaming themselves. At that time during the accident, they were taking her brother out for a stroll. Things happened so suddenly and they could not react in time.
Meanwhile, her mother was two months pregnant with her when her brother died.
She once heard from her grandmother that her mother had a bad postpartum depression after she gave birth to her.
Perhaps, it was after his death that the relationship between her parents started to rock.
Sometimes, Li Qin Yao could recall the way her mother's sad gaze at her when she was little. It was only after she had grown up that she understood that her mother was missing her deceased brother. After all, her youngest aunt had once mentioned that her face looked almost identical to her brother.
Seeing that her mother had crouched down in front of the tombs, Li Qin Yao excused herself and walked away to give her mother some space. She walked in a certain distance, but not far away that she could not see her mother.
Li Qin Yao took a deep breath and turned towards the gate. Soon, her paternal grandparents showed up. The two elders face brightened up once they saw their granddaughter.
"Yao Yao, you're here," her grandmother, Mu Ling Xi smiled. "Your mother...?"
Li Qin Yao nodded. Then, she turned her head in a direction and her grandparents immediately followed. Mu Ling Xi placed a hand on her mouth as she saw Xu Yilan stood in front of the tombs. It felt that it has been a very long time since the last time she had seen this daughter-in-law.
"Should we head over?" her grandfather, Li Ren Xin asked.
Mu Ling Xi shook her head. "Let's wait for her to finish."
Her grandparents then walked over to Xu Yilan and stopped a few steps away. The two elders waited until her mother had stood up before they approached.
From the distance, Li Qin Yao could see the shock in her mother's face when she saw the two elders.
The two elders spoke something and Li Qin Yao watched as her mother's expression soon changed and she started to cry.
Li Qin Yao did not know what matters the elders were discussing. It seemed that she had stood at the side for a long time. As she continued to observe her mother, she wondered if it was a good decision to arrange a meeting like this.
She subconsciously balled her hand into a fist when she saw her mother moved. Once she saw her mother leaned in to hug her grandmother, Li Qin Yao released a sigh in relief.
