Chapter 177 - Li Mu Chen's Sudden Enthusiasm

In the past few days, the mother and daughter have been spending their time back and forth from the hotel and the hospital. As she has been in Capital City for a few days, Li Qin Yao decided to visit her grandparents. 

Since Liang Sheng will come over to meet her grandfather with the progress report on B City, Li Qin Yao had thought that it would be a perfect time for her to tag along.

When Li Qin Yao arrived, she could not help but notice the lively atmosphere.

Surprisingly, both her second uncle and youngest aunt's family was around. When Li Qin Yao walked in, everyone turned to look at her. Some with a smile, and some with not so happy face. Of course, her aunt, Zhao Wei, and her cousin, Li Mu Chen were those who were not happy to see her.

Li Qin Yao greeted the elders politely and had a brief conversation with her youngest auntie. 

Because of Li Ming Han's wedding, her youngest aunt and her family have been staying with her grandparents and will only return to C Country once the wedding ended.

Li Qin Yao sent a bag of fruits to the housekeeper, Auntie Han, and asked, "Auntie Han, where my grandparents?"

"Old Madam is resting in her room and Old Master is in his office," Auntie Han answered.

Hearing Auntie Han's answer, Li Qin Yao decided to visit her grandfather first. "Has Liang Sheng arrived yet?"

Auntie Han nodded. "Liang Sheng and Young Master Mu Bai went into the Old Master's office not too long ago."

"Thank you, Auntie Han." Li Qin Yao watched the housekeeper retreated into the kitchen and went towards the stairs to find her grandfather.

However, just before Li Qin Yao could take a step, she noticed a presence behind her. Turning around, Li Qin Yao found her cousin, Li Mu Chen stood behind her with her arms crossed on her ċhėst.

"Li Qin Yao, you stop there," Li Mu Chen said. 

Li Qin Yao put a hand on her temple and sighed. When she walked in and saw that this cousin was around, Li Qin Yao had a hunch that Li Mu Chen will come and find trouble with her. "What do you want? Make it fast. I still have to meet grandfather to discuss something."

Li Mu Chen stiffened at her cousin's impatient tone. She opened her mouth to say something but paused when she caught the sight of their cousin, Lin Nan Feng walking towards them with a bag of potato chips in his hand. Li Mu Chen was planning to wait until that cousin to walk away before she would force Li Qin Yao to listen to her, but Lin Nan Fen only stood there to watch them as if waiting for a good show. 

Annoyed, Li Mu Chen turned to the teenager and said, "What are you doing here?"

"I stay here," Lin Nan Feng replied lazily. "What about you?" Then, he picked up another chip and started munching without the intention to move away from his spot. 

The last time, he had accidentally seen how Li Mu Chen and her mother bullied Li Qin Yao. Of course, now that he saw the two girls together, Lin Nan Feng knew that there will be a good show if he stayed.

Li Mu Chen rolled her eyes in frustration. She turned around to suggest Li Qin Yao to find another place to talk. However, the person she was looking for was already upstairs.

Gritting her teeth, Li Mu Chen then hurried upstairs to chase after her cousin. Just before Li Qin Yao reached their grandfather's office, Li Mu Chen had pulled her aside.

"I told you to wait for me, did you not hear me?"

"I also told you to make it fast. I saw that you wanted to talk to Nan Feng. Why would I want to stay around." Li Qin Yao stared at Li Mu Chen's hand on her arm and frowned. "What do you want?"

"Yao Yao…"

Li Qin Yao suddenly shivered at the way Li Mu Chen called her name intimately. She rubbed her arms and took a step back.

"You should tell grandfather that you want me to ȧssist you in that project in B City," Li Mu Chen said.

Li Qin Yao stared at her in disbelief. Li Mu Chen must be crazy if she thought that she will allow Li Mu Chen to get close to her and her project. "But I don't want you to ȧssist me. I have enough help and staff."

"You know how grandfather likes it when we cousins working together," Li Mu Chen tugged at her arms again when that Li Qin Yao was trying to leave. "You know that I'm new in this business. Was it bad for you to teach me a thing or two? Yao Yao, I would love to learn from you!"

Li Qin Yao frowned at Li Mu Chen's sudden enthusiasm. "I'll think about it," she spoke after a few seconds.

Li Mu Chen's face brightened up. "Really?"

"Hmm," Li Qin Yao forced a smile. Then she swiftly walked around Li Mu Chen and quickly knocked on her grandfather's door. Anyway, she was too lazy to deal with Li Mu Chen and that was the only way to get rid of her quickly. Besides, she only told Li Mu Chen that she was going to think about it, and had not agreed on anything. 

Li Qin Yao walked into her grandfather's office and found both Liang Sheng and her cousin, Li Mu Bai inside. 

"Grandfather," Li Qin Yao greeted her grandfather and took a seat on the couch to join in their conversation. 

After the briefing ended, Li Ren Xin sent the others out and let Li Qin Yao stay around. Seeing that her grandfather had something to say to her, Li Qin Yao then chose to sit down.

"Will you be staying here?" Li Ren Xin spoke. "Your grandmother missed you."

"No. This time, I'm staying over at a hotel," Li Qin Yao said. "My mother is in the city to visit her friends."

Li Ren Xin paused. He cleared his throat and said, "Then, at least stay around and have lunch together. Your grandmother is cooking a feast." He lowered his gaze for a second and lifted his face to look at her granddaughter with a complicated gaze. "Will your mother attend Ming Han's wedding?"

"She's not."

Li Ren Xin heaved a heavy sigh. How many years have passed since they have seen each other? The last time Li Ren Xin had seen Li Qin Yao's mother was a day before the divorce.

"Yao Yao," he hesitated. "If it's possible, could you arrange a meeting for me and your mother?" 

Li Qin Yao bit her lips. She knew how much her mother wanted to avoid meeting her paternal grandparents. However, as she looked into her grandfather's eyes, Li Qin Yao was reluctant to reject it. "My mother and I are planning to visit father tomorrow morning," she said.

Li Ren Xin's eyes brightened at his granddaughter's hint.
