Li Qin Yao walked out of her room and found her mother in the living room, watching some drama on the television.
"I've never seen this dress before," Xu Yilan said when she saw her daughter at the door. She stood up and walked around her daughter.
"Hmm… I just got the dress today to attend the dinner party," Li Qin Yao said. "Mom, what do you think?"
A thought crossed her mind, and Xu Yilan wondered what will be her son-in-law's reaction when he watched her daughter in the red burgundy dress.
The two of them were newlyweds, and unless his son-in-law had a problem somewhere, there was no way that he won't be tempted with the way her daughter was dressed.
"It looks nice," Xu Yilan chose not to say her thought out loud. "It makes you look taller."
Li Qin Yao let out a sigh at hearing her mother's words. She was worried that the dress would not look good on her. However, after looking at the mirror, Li Qin Yao thought that she did look slightly taller.
"Come on, let me help you with your hair," Xu Yilan said. "Have you decided how to style your hair yet?"
"I was planning to tie them up into a high ponytail."
Xu Yilan clicked her tongue disapprovingly. She walked into her room and retrieved a few hair styling tools before she pulled her daughter to sit down. She started to comb her daughter's hair and let out a soft sigh. "The last time I help to style your hair, you were around ten."
"Ma, I will always be a ten years old girl in front of you."
"What ten years old girl?" Xu Yilan snorted at her daughter's words. "You're already married. Don't act like a kid anymore."
Li Qin Yao laughed as she watched her mother applying some hair styling gel into her hair through the mirror.
Not long after, her mother wiped her hands on a towel and stepped back to see her final work. A satisfied smile curled on her lips. "Not bad. It seemed that I do have some talent in hair styling."
Li Qin Yao checked herself in the mirror and was satisfied with the way she looked like. As she was about to fix her makeup, the doorbell rang. Her mother left her in the room to open the door.
"You're here," Xu Yilan said when she saw her son-in-law at the door.
"Mom," Zhang Yu Han greeted. "Where's Qin Yao?"
Xu Yilan moved aside to let him enter and smiled, "She's in the room, getting ready. You should sit down for a bit. Yao Yao will come out soon. I'll get you something to drink. What do you like?"
Zhang Yu Han was about to turn down his mother-in-law's offer but changed his mind. "Plain water would be fine."
Xu Yilan walked into the kitchen and came out with a glass of drinking water. She handed the glass to her son-in-law and watched him emptied half of its contents.
This was what Li Qin Yao saw when she stepped out of her room. Leaning on the door frame, Li Qin Yao then spoke, "Mom, you treat your son-in-law so well. You didn't even offer me a drink even when I have been in this house for hours."
Zhang Yu Han turned to her voice and felt a lump in his throat.
He shouldn't trust his sister's words when she affirmed that the dress she chose was very modest.
"You silly girl, if I treat your husband well, wouldn't he treat you better?" Xu Yilan said.
Li Qin Yao pouted. Why did she found that recently everyone around her liked to call her a silly girl?
"This is your house anyway," Xu Yilan said. "If you want a drink, just make one for yourself."
Her gaze shifted from her mother to her husband. Seeing that Zhang Yu Han was staring back at her in a daze, a wide smile appeared on her lips. "Zhang Yu Han, how is it? Pretty?"
How can he not think that she was pretty? His wife was always pretty. But with that dress on her, Zhang Yu Han thought that she looked ravishing. Anyway, he had seen the dress in the picture that his sister had sent him. But why does it look so different when it was on his wife's?
Unable to utter a word, Zhang Yu Han merely nodded.
An amused smile curled on Xu Yilan's lips as she watched this exchange. "Didn't you say that you were going to a dinner party? If you don't want to be late, you should get going now."
Li Qin Yao glanced at the clock and grabbed her purse and a few bags. She kissed her mother on the cheek and excused themselves. "Mom, we're going now. I'll leave my car here and come again tomorrow."
"Oh," Xu Yilan nodded before she turned to her son-in-law. "Yu Han, drive safely."
Zhang Yu Han helped his wife with her belongings and the two of them walked out from Xu Yilan's apartment holding hands. Once they entered the elevator, Zhang Yu Han stepped away from his wife to get a clear look at the dress she was wearing.
Instantly, his eyes darkened with dėsɨrė.
Although the dress could be categorized as modest and not showing too much skin as per his instruction to his sister, the fabric clung to her body, emphasizing her curve and slim figure. Her white skin contrasted against the red fit and flare long dress. Her hair was combed back and styled into a wet hair look. Then, there was that bright red lipstick on her lips.
Zhang Yu Han wondered if his wife will scold him if he leaned in to mess with her lipstick.
Facing her husband's intense gaze, Li Qin Yao lowered her gaze with a reddened face. She could almost guess what he was thinking.
Taking a deep breath to calm down, Zhang Yu Han inched closer to planted a kiss on her forehead. It was the least he could do right now. "You look beautiful tonight."
"Thank you."
"Qin Yao, do you think that it's a good idea if we went home instead?"
Li Qin Yao let out a chuckle. "This dinner party is very important for QL."
Zhang Yu Han sighed at her answer. The elevator reached the ground floor and held her hand as he led her to his Cayenne. He helped her with the door and noticed something very important as her back was facing him.
"Your back..."
Apparently, it was an open back dress.
The feeling that he had suppressed earlier suddenly resurfaced. Zhang Yu Han mentally cursed at his sister.
It was his fault. He had asked his sister to send a picture but had forgotten to ask for a view from the back.
Li Qin Yao tilted her head sideways with an innocent look on her face. "What's wrong with my back?"
Zhang Yu Han shook his head. He helped to close the door and let out a dangerous laugh as he sent a text to his sister.
