Chapter 252 - Sudden Return

On the very same day that Zhang Yu Han received a call from Qi Ming Wei with news that they might be able to bring the Guo's family to a safer place soon, his grandfather brought him another shocking news—his parents suddenly decided to return from C Country.

After hearing that their daughter-in-law might be facing deep trouble, his parents were even more motivated to finish the tasks that Zhang Jing had ȧssigned them to do and return to their home country to give their support to their daughter-in-law.

Zhang Yu Han had mixed emotions with the sudden situation.

He did not want his wife to be pressured after learning that she was going to see meet her parents-in-law before she could properly prepare herself for it. But Zhang Yu Han was also glad that his parents had come home earlier because they were worried about their daughter-in-law.

Taking a deep breath as his brain started to process this sudden development, Zhang Yu Han then answered, "Un. I know. I will bring Qin Yao to the residence for dinner later. Grandfather, you… should talk to my parents properly."

Zhang Jing let out a chuckle as he gave a side glance at his son who was sitting in front of him. "Don't worry. I have already scolded them for making this sudden decision without consulting me first."

Hearing his father's words, Zhang Xi touched his nose with his forefinger and smiled awkwardly. He was someone who was already in his late fifties, but at this age, he was still scolded by his father. As this thought crossed his mind, Zhang Xi was embarrassed.

However, there was nothing else that they could do.

Back when he and his wife heard that his son had registered his marriage with the girl that he had a crush on from years ago, both of them were ecstatic. They worked hard to settle with their project and had planned to come back somewhere around Christmas.

But once they heard that their daughter-in-law was going to face some troublesome problem, as parents, they thought that it was important for them to be around to give her their support.

Anyway, with everyone gathered around to support her, no one will dare to bully their daughter-in-law, right?

The husband and wife worked harder to settle the things over in C Country before they decided to make a surprise return.

Their son, Zhang Yu Han should not blame them. If it was not for Zhang Jing who instructed them not to contact their daughter-in-law until they have finished their task, would they dare to make this surprise move?

Who told the old man to use the meeting with their daughter-in-law as a way to motivate them to work faster?

Zhang Yu Han let out a helpless sigh as the call ended. Suddenly, he sensed an upcoming headache.

"What's wrong?" Li Qin Yao, who has been around his husband's side for the last two minutes was curious. Although she did not know what he had discussed on the phone, Li Qin Yao knew that he was talking to Zhang Jing.

A glance at Zhang Yu Han's expression told her that something was troubling him. She then walked over to his side and grabbed his hands. Her thumbs were massaging the back of his hands.

Zhang Yu Han offered her a smile. He raised his right hand and planted a kiss on her palm. Then, he stared at her silently, wondering how he should break the news to her.

"Later, let's go back to grandfather's house for dinner," Zhang Yu Han finally said after a whole minute of silence.

A crease appeared between her eyebrow. At the thought that something bad might happen to Zhang Jing, Li Qin Yao was worried. "Is Grandfather alright?"

"Grandfather is alright." He reached his hand to pat her hair. "It's just that… my parents had suddenly returned. So, Grandfather wanted us to go back and see them."

"Ah?" Li Qin Yao's eyes widened. The surprised expression on her face was apparent. "Your parents? Aren't they supposed to return around Christmas?"

"Hmm… they finished their project in C Country earlier than expected. So they came back to meet you," Zhang Yu Han said. A helpless smile curled on his lips when he noticed her panic. "You don't have to worry. My parents won't make things difficult for you."

"This is too sudden. I was not prepared for this." Li Qin Yao started to look everywhere except at her husband.

It was a few hours ago that Zhang Yu Han had announced that she should get ready to visit Capital City to see her grandfather in a few days, and now, he had told her that she was going to meet his parents in a few hours.

"Zhang Yu Han, I haven't bought anything appropriate for your parents!" Li Qin Yao said as if she had this sudden realization. "What should I do? What should I buy? Did you think that we can make it if we go out and buy something from the mall? But, what did your parents like?"

Seeing that his wife had started rambling some unimportant question, Zhang Yu Han pulled her body into his embrace.

As she felt the warmth from his body envelope her body, Li Qin Yao instinctively shut up. She took a deep breath at his familiar scent and began to calm down.

"What are you actually worried about?" Zhang Yu Han asked.

"Hmm… nothing." She bit at her lips. "This would be the first time I am going to meet your parents. Of course, I should worry."

"Didn't I tell you previously? My parents will adore you. Qin Yao, you don't have to worry too much."

Li Qin Yao exhaled a long breath. She stayed in his embrace for a while longer and decided to break the silence. "Actually… previously, with Chen Hao—"

Zhang Yu Han frowned when he heard that annoying name.

"—I have met up with his parents and we almost decided to get married." Her speech halted when Li Qin Yao suddenly felt the way Zhang Yu Han had tightened his arms around her body. A chuckle escaped her as she continued. "But his parents did not like me. His mother did not like that I am someone who came from a broken family."

But on second thought, it was probably because Chen Hao's mother had rejected her that he had his chance to marry his wife. Right now, Zhang Yu Han could not imagine his life if he was not married to Li Qin Yao.

As those thoughts crossed his mind, Zhang Yu Han wondered if he should actually be thanking Chen Hao's parents for objecting to their relationship.

"You don't have to worry about such things," Zhang Yu Han said after a long silence. "My parents won't care about your background and such. As long as I like you, they won't have other opinions."
