Chapter 257 - Zhao Wei was Arrested

On the day after tomorrow, there was a huge uproar around QL Group's headquarters. The shareholders and everyone in the QL group received a notice that Manager Zhao Wei will no longer be a part of the company.

Of course, once this news broke out, everyone was shocked!

Most of them had thought that perhaps there was an error with the company's system, or perhaps, whoever drafted that notice might have accidentally written the wrong name.

Everyone knew how long Manager Zhao Wei has been working with QL. From the moment she had graduated she had entered QL Group. She had worked with QL for a long time and was among one of the seniors there. But, after years of working with the company, she was suddenly sacked?

What on earth was happening?

A few of Zhao Wei's biggest supporters showed up at the company to get an explanation from Chairman Li Ren Xin, but they were told that the Chairman did not come to the company. Even President Li Mu Bai did not show up at the company.

The two of them only left their ȧssistants to deal with the shareholders. But, the ȧssistants were not any help. They did not provide any explanation but only told them that the Chairman and the President will be giving their official statement in a few days.

In the end, the shareholders had no choice but to look for the Chairman at the Li's residence. However, before they could pass the gates, they were stopped by several guards. 

Just as they thought that they would wait at the gate until Chairman Li was willing to see them, everyone received another shocking news: Manager Zhao Wei was arrested by the police at her residence!

It was revealed that Zhao Wei was involved in the incident that caused the death of a few construction workers two years ago.

A man who introduced himself as Guo Jun Shan testified that he was involved in the accident and that everything he did was directed by Zhao Wei.

Suddenly, everyone started to dig on the old news and found out that the Chairman's granddaughter, Li Qin Yao was framed for that incident. 

The shareholders were shocked!

Although they wanted to stay around at the Li's residence, they had no other choices but to leave as the reporters had started to gather lest they were bombarded with questions they could not answer.

Two days later, Li Ren Xin had called out everyone to gather back at the residence. 

Even Li Chun and her family flew back from Country to return. Everyone was eager to learn what was going on. 

Inside the living room, Li Mu Chen's voice could be heard as she pleaded for her grandfather to re-investigate her mother's matter. But no matter how she had cried and begged, her grandfather remained firm at the seat.

Li Mu Chen was given her freedom after she was grounded to stay at home for a month. It has been only a week, but what the hell with this sudden news?

Frustrated that her grandfather was not giving her any response, Li Mu Chen turned to her brother who seemed not bothered that their mother was arrested. "Brother! Shouldn't you say something?" Her gaze then shifted to her father, but she knew that her father was not going to say a word.

At the thought that no one would come forward to help her mother, Li Mu Chen gritted her teeth angrily.

"Father," Li Sheng, the third son of Li Ren Xin finally spoke up after getting tired of hearing Li Mu Chen's constant screaming. "Since you have gathered everyone here, aren't you going to say something?"

"Cousin sister," Li Ming Han cleared his throat once and turned to his father. "Li Qin Yao was not here yet."

"We will not start until everyone is here," Li Ren Xin announced.

With that, everyone sat silently as they waited for Li Qin Yao's arrival. A look of displeased crossed Li Mu Chen's face at the thought that they have to wait for a long time for her cousin.

Not more than five minutes later, the doorbell rang. Everyone's attention was glued to the entrance as Auntie Wu opened the door to let Li Qin Yao into the house.

As soon as Li Mu Chen saw the person behind Li Qin Yao, her expression changed. "What is he doing here? Li Qin Yao, not only you showed up late and made us wait for you, but you also brought in an outsider with you? Didn't you hear grandfather's words? This meeting is only for family members."

Although the others did not say a word, Li Mu Chen was sure that they were uncomfortable with Zhang Yu Han's presence at the residence. 

Something big had happened to the Li's family. Why would anyone invite an outsider to come? Was she trying to air dirty laundry in front of this outsider?

"What's wrong with Yu Han's presence here?" Li Ren Xin spoke. "As Yao Yao husband, he is also a part of the family. There is nothing wrong with his presence here."

Everyone in the room was surprised to hear Li Ren Xin's words. They turned their head to both Li Ren Xin and Li Qin Yao back and forth in disbelief. 

Li Ming Han was the first to broke the awkward atmosphere. He walked over to the couple with his wife and smiled. "Cousin sister, I didn't know that you and cousin-in-law are married! Congratulations." 

"Thank you. We only obtained our marriage certificates not too long ago," Li Qin Yao said as she tightened her grip on Zhang Yu Han's arms. "When we hold a wedding banquet, we will invite everyone to come."

"Cousin sister, is it wise to do things discreetly like this?"

Li Qin Yao smiled as she looked at Li Ming Han and his wife alternately. "Didn't I learn this from you? Last time, didn't you and your wife hid your engagement from everyone else?"

Li Ming Han scratched at his nose and laughed.

Seeing the light atmosphere between the two cousins, everyone else stepped forward to congratulate the new couple. Meanwhile, Li Mu Chen stood at her place with her arms crossed on her ċhėst.

Seeing the scene, Li Mu Chen was seething with anger. Her hands curled into fists as she tried to suppress her feelings.

"Alright," Li Ren Xin coughed once to grab their attention. "Since everyone is here, then let's get started. Yao Yao, Yu Han, you two take a seat."
