Chapter 261 - QL Group was Facing a Crisis

There was a long deafening silence after Li Jing left the house. Zhao Wei looked around the mansion that he had lived in with her husband for years with a hollow look in her eyes. 

She could not understand what has gone wrong. Everything seemed just fine a few days ago. How did everything change? How did she suddenly lose everything?

However, Li Jing was wrong about one thing. She did not do everything due to revenge. Zhao Wei only wanted to prove that Li Xuan was making the wrong mistake by choosing Xu Yilan instead of her. 

She had thought that she had proven that she was right when Li Xuan and Xu Yilan divorced. She was going to forget everything and focus her life on her family with Li Jing. She had thought that since Li Jing and Xu Yilan's son had died in the accident, the family was going to choose her son, Li Mu Bai as the next heir.

But years after years, it doesn't seem like Li Ren Xin was going to do that.

After her son had grown up, Li Ren Xin announced that the best among the cousins will inherit the QL Group. It was then that Zhao Wei had planned to do everything to help her son. 

He was the eldest male of Li's family. Why does he have to compete with others? It was his right!

Zhao Wei finally snapped out of her trance when she saw a pair of slippers in front of her. She lifted her head and was surprised upon seeing her son, Li Mu Bai stood in front of her.

Suddenly, Zhao Wei was frightened that her son had heard everything that she and Li Jing had argued about. She scrambled to get off the floor and held her son's hands. "Mu Bai, why are you here?"

It was then that Li Mu Bai realized that from the moment he had picked her up from the station, this was the first time that her mother was really looking at him.

"Mom, are you alright?" Li Mu Bai asked.

"I'm fine." Zhao Wei quickly forced a smile. 

"It's good that you're fine," Li Mu Bai carefully pulled his hands away from her mother's grip. "I have talked to our lawyers. Mom, if you plead guilty, there might be a chance that you might reduce your sentences."

The smile froze on Zhao Wei's face when she suddenly recalled that she will have to be tried for various cases in court. Zhao Wei began to panic. "Mu Bai, you have to help me. You cannot allow them to put me behind bars."

"Mom, I cannot help you with those."

"Why not?" Zhao Wei was getting anxious. "You are the President of QL Group. Surely you must know a few people. Talk to them. Give them whatever they want. How hard can it be?"

Li Mu Bai stared at her mother for a long time before he broke the news. "Mom, I have resigned. From now on, I am no longer the President of QL Group."

"What?" Zhao Wei took a step back. Her eyes widened as she stared at her son in disbelief. When she finally arranged her thoughts seconds later, Zhao Wei leaped forward and banged her fist on Li Mu Bai's ċhėst. "Why did you quit? Li Mu Bai, you worked hard to get that position! Why did you quit?"

Li Mu Bai stood still as he let his mother continue to hit him on his ċhėst for as long as she wanted. It was not as painful as what he had overheard earlier.

His mother's conversation with his father continued to play on his mind as if it was on a loop. It doesn't look like he will be able to forget what he had heard.

A lot of things ha happened to QL Group these few days.

Because of Zhao Wei's scandal, their share dropped and QL Group had suffered terribly. When the others heard the news that Li Mu Bai had resigned, the share went further down. QL Group was facing a crisis.

Although Li Ren Xin wanted to ask his granddaughter and Zhang's family to help him with the matter, Li Ren Xin was too embarrassed. 

During their next meeting, the shareholders were going to discuss their next move to deal with their problem. They needed to do something to protect the QL Group. If the company went bankrupt, hundreds of their employee might lose their source of income.

Li Qin Yao knew nothing about any of it until Zhang Yu Han returned her phone back to her.

When Li Qin Yao switched on her phone again that morning, she was shocked upon seeing hundreds of missed calls and messages. She then spent her time to go through each message and replied to her friends by telling them that she was alright.

If it was up to Zhang Yu Han, he would want to confiscate her phone and let her rest, however, Li Qin Yao had convinced him that she will only pick up and replied to her close friends. Thus, Zhang Yu Han had reluctantly agreed to let her keep her phone with her.

It was then that she received a phone call from Li Ming Han who then told her that she has to stay in Capital City to attend the shareholder's meeting.

According to Li Ming Han, the shareholders were going to vote and choose someone new to replace Li Mu Bai's position.

After thinking and discussing the matter with her husband, the two of them decided to stay for a few days.

As the couple entered their suite, Li Qin Yao immediately stood on tiptoed and linked her arms around Zhang Yu Han's neck. Seeing the way his wife was acting, Zhang Yu Han raised a brow.

"Zhang Yu Han. Is it alright for you to stay here with me?" Li Qin Yao asked as she met her husband's gaze.

"Why wouldn't it be alright? This is also a hotel that belonged to Zhang's group. I can always work from here. It wouldn't make much difference. Stop thinking too much," Zhang Yu Han said. He sneaked his arms around her waist to pull her closer and pressed her lips to her forehead. "Don't forget what you have promised me. Didn't you say you will continue to rest once we returned to our room?"

Li Qin Yao looked at her husband with a pout. 

Zhang Yu Han chuckled at her expression. "Making that cute face isn't going to change my mind. Come on. Go and get rest."

Li Qin Yao let out a sigh in resignation before she released her arms and took a step back from him.

Just as she was about to get into the bed and continue to rest, her phone suddenly rang. Li Qin Yao turned to her husband with an innocent look on her face before she looked at the caller ID. She lifted her phone and showed the screen to her husband. "I have to take this call. It's Fan Yun Xi."
