Chapter 265 - Yao Yao, I’m Sorry

After the couple had their breakfast, Zhang Yu Han drove around to accompany his wife to visit her father's resting place. While they were on their way to the cemetery, Li Qin Yao told her husband the story about her father and brother.

It was the first time Zhang Yu Han had heard his wife talk so much about her father. As he glanced at her expression as she was reminiscing her moments with her father, Zhang Yu Han could see how much she was missing her late father. It made him wonder why she had not talked about her father that much previously.

Though her parents had lived separately, from the way she talked about her childhood, Zhang Yu Han was sure that she had a happy one.

However, no matter how she had learned to accept that her parents were no longer together, Zhang Yu Han knew that it was still something that was painful for her.

As the two of them arrived at their destination, Zhang Yu Han helped her to get off the vehicle before he pulled her into a tight hug.

For a while, Li Qin Yao at his sudden action. She wrapped her arms around his waist and rested her head on his ċhėst. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Zhang Yu Han kissed at the top of her head and released her. "I just thought that you needed a hug."

Li Qin Yao let out a giggle. Then, Zhang Yu Han picked up the bouquets in the car before he followed his wife to visit the grave. Suddenly, Li Qin Yao stopped on her tracks.

"What's wrong?" Zhang Yu Han turned to his wife and raised a brow.

Li Qin Yao pursed her lips tightly as she watched her cousin, Li Mu Bai, stood a few meters in front of her. His hair was messy from the wind, his eyes were fixed on her father's tomb, and his lips muttered something she couldn't hear.

"Let's wait here for a while," Li Qin Yao suggested.

Zhang Yu Han followed her gaze and frowned when he saw Li Mu Bai from a distance away.

Subconsciously, he reached for her hands and held it tight. Although Zhang Yu Han had heard that Li Mu Bai was not involved in any way to hurt his wife, he was still worried. He did not want to let his guard down and give a chance for anyone to harm his wife again.

Because of Li Qin Yao, Li Mu Bai's mother was now facing murder charges. Zhang Yu Han was afraid that Li Mu Bai was someone who would seek revenge. Zhao Wei was his mother. Which son would not choose to side with his mother?

After a whole five minutes have passed, Li Mu Bai turned around and was startled upon meeting Li Qin Yao's gaze. He lowered his head and hesitated for a while before he finally decided to walk towards the couple.

"You're here as well," Li Mu Bai greeted. He glanced at Zhang Yu Han and nodded as his way of greeting him.

"Yes," Li Qin Yao smiled. She looked at him carefully and noticed how Li Mu Bai has grown thinner in these past few days. His face haggard and it looked like he hasn't been shaving for days. "Li Mu Bai, are you alright?"

Li Mu Bai answered her with a faint smile. He looked at the couple in front of him alternately and said, "The last time we saw each other, I did not have the chance to congratulate you both for your marriage. Congratulations. I wish for you both to have a happy marriage."

"Thank you," Li Qin Yao's gaze softened.

"Yao Yao actually, I," Li Mu Bai paused to swallow. "I owe you an apology. On half of my mom, I wanted to apologize for what she had done. I know that what she did has caused you a lot of harm. I couldn't imagine what you might have felt. I—"

His words were left unfinished. Li Mu Bai thought that he had a lot of things he needed to apologize, but at this moment, he could not find the right words to say.

From the moment the news broke up and Li Mu Bai had learned of what his mother had done, Li Mu Bai had always wanted to meet with Li Qin Yao and apologize.

However, he was too embarrassed.

For the past few days, the two of them had a few encounters. Li Mu Bai had wanted to walk up to her to say the words but found that he was unable to.

He did not have the courage to apologize. Li Mu Bai was afraid that this cousin of his was going to blame him.

Back then, he was among the people who had suspected that Li Qin Yao indeed did something as terrible as allowing the use of cheap materials.

On the day that Li Qin Yao was supposed to present the evidence of her innocence in front of the shareholders, Li Mu Bai could still remember the way she had looked at him accusingly.

Was that why she would sometimes hint for him not to look into the matters anymore?

Through his investigation after Li Qin Yao had left the company, Li Mu Bai found out a few things that did not add up. It was then that Li Ming Han had come to him and said something that made him realized that pulling a cheap trick and harming a person's life was something that Li Qin Yao would not do.

Li Mu Bai lifted his head and noticed the way Zhang Yu Han was looking at him. That piercing gaze was threatening him not to think of pulling anything that will harm Li Qin Yao.

"Don't misunderstand," Li Mu Bai continued. "I am not saying these things so that you will forgive my mother or suggesting you to drop the case. My mother did something wrong and it was only right for her to be punished."

His father was a soldier. With his teaching, Li Mu Bai still knew how to differentiate what was right and what was wrong.

His mother said she was doing everything to help him win that position. Since he was the cause of his mother's wrongdoing, of course, it was only right for him to receive his part of the punishment.

"Yao Yao," Li Mu Bai took a deep breath and continued, "I'm sorry."
