Chapter 286 - Wedding Invitations

Following her usual routine, at the end of the month, Li Qin Yao visited her cafe to check on the reports. She occupied the table nearest to the counter to look at the documents as her manager, Qing Kong sat down across the table to briefed her on the sales trending.

The small bell attached to the door chimed when someone walked in. Coincidentally, Li Qin Yao raised her head at this time and was surprised to see the 'customer' that she had not seen for a long time.

Li Qin Yao spoke a few words to Qing Kong before she rose to meet Li Mu Bai who stood awkwardly at the counter. "Why are you here?"

Li Mu Bai gave her a faint smile before he looked at the cakes displayed at the counter. Then, he turned to Li Qin Yao again and hesitated. "I wanted to speak to you. But… do I need to buy anything first?"

At the memory of how she had tricked Li Mu Bai into buying a few slices of cakes when he had come to look for her not too long ago, Li Qin Yao burst into a heartily laugh. 

"Fortunately, you found me here," Li Qin Yao said. "If you look for me when I was at the QL Office, I will make you purchase a property in that Tourism City before you can talk to me."

When he heard her words, the smile on Li Mu Bai widened. 

"Pick a seat and wait for a while. I'll come back and find you shortly," Li Qin Yao said before she went into the kitchen.

"That guy seemed familiar," Yin Mei Xuan spoke when Li Qin Yao walked in.

"Hmm… he came here before," Li Qin Yao paused when he recalled that the last time Li Mu Bai had come over to visit her cafe was almost ten months ago. She turned to her friend and raised a brow. "But that was months ago. How do you still remember him?"

Yin Mei Xuan laughed. "You know that I have a good memory of good looking guys." 

Li Qin Yao rolled her eyes. "He's my cousin."

"You do have the same eyes," Yin Mei Xuan pointed out. She looked at the plate in her boss's hands and smiled. "Let me help you."

Li Qin Yao handed the plate to her friend and instructed her to prepare a sliced chicken sandwich for her cousin. She then turned towards her small office and came out with a big brown envelope in her hand.

When Li Qin Yao slid into the seat across her cousin, Yin Mei Xuan had already served her cousin a plate of sandwiches and a cup of black coffee.

"This time, this meal is on the house," Li Qin Yao said. "Of course, if you want to support my business and buy a few slices of cakes for takeaway, I would be happy."

"You made it sound like I was not supporting your business if I didn't come out with a few purchases." Li Mu Bai sighed. "Just pack a few slices of your best selling cakes after this. I didn't want you to say that I am not supporting a family's business."

"Every cake on display is our bestselling."

"Now you're just trying to rob me."

Li Qin Yao laughed. Her thought was brought back at the last time Li Mu Bai had come over to find her. Back then, the mood between the two of them was very different. Months ago, Li Qin Yao had thought that Li Mu Bai had conspired with his mother to frame her with something that she did not do. That was why she was wary of him.

"I came to B City to look at the site. Coincidentally, your ȧssistant, Liang Sheng was at the site as well and he had briefed me with the construction progress." Li Mu Bai stirred at his coffee and hesitated. "And also, I came to tell you that my mother was found guilty and will be imprisoned for twenty years."

Li Qin Yao lowered her gaze. "I know. I heard about it."

"I wanted to apologize again for what my mom did," Li Mu Bai said. "I know that no matter what I do, it will not give you back the suffering you faced when everyone else was pointing their fingers at you. I also would like to apologize that I had chosen not to believe in you when you told everyone that you were framed."

Li Mu Bai recalled that one time when he saw Li Qin Yao walked out of the company's building only to be surrounded by the reporters and angry citizens. The others pointed fingers at her and threw some nasty words. When she had refused to respond to them, the others started to get aggressive by throwing things at her.

It was her ȧssistant, Bei Ruo Xi who had protected her and called over the security. It was only then that Li Qin Yao was able to leave. Now that Li Mu Bai thought over it, he realized that those people were hired by his mother.

"It's fine," Li Qin Yao said. "Back then, the evidence was pointing at me. Even though they were inconclusive, they were pointing that I was the person who did those things. Li Mu Bai, you don't have to worry about this. I told you that if you were feeling guilty about it, you just need to work hard and make a lot of money."

Li Mu Bai chuckled at her words. He was silent for a long time before he spoke again. "Thank you, for your trust in me." He stared at her face for a while and continued. "I feel as if you have changed a lot."

Li Qin Yao tilted her head with confusion written on her face. 

"I feel as if you have become calmer. You might not realize this, but you every time you see me, you were always a bit… snappier. Yao Yao, you were always a short-tempered girl even before you left QL Group and Capital City."

Li Qin Yao thought over his words and thought that Li Mu Bai was talking rubbish. Of course, she did not think that she was someone with a short-temper.

The two of them chatted for a while before Li Qin Yao pushed the brown envelope towards him. "These are my wedding invitations. will have to entrust you to pass the invitation to everyone else."

Li Mu Bai took out the one with his name on it. His eyes widened when he saw that the wedding will be held in a month.

"I hope you will attend my wedding," Li Qin Yao said. The smile on her face faded as she continued. "However, I could not write an invitation to Li Mu Chen. I hope you would not mind that I don't have a plan to invite her to my wedding."

Li Mu Bai smiled at her words. "It's your wedding. Of course, you have the right to invite anyone to attend it. Don't worry about my sister. I will keep my eyes on her."
