Chapter 335 - My Mom Treats You Better

As Zhang Yu Han arrived in front of her mother-in-law's door in the evening, he quickly took a deep breath to calm down. However, before he got the chance to press the bell, someone had pulled the door open and Zhang Yu Han's anxiety gradually disappeared upon seeing his wife's smiling face.

"I haven't pressed the doorbell yet," Zhang Yu Han said as he watched his wife unlocked the door to let him in.

"I know."

"How did you know that I'm out here?"

Li Qin Yao looked at her husband with a giggle. "Would you believe that it was an instinct?"

"Oh?" Zhang Yu Han raised a brow.

"Just kidding with you," Li Qin Yao tiptoed to kiss him on the corner of his lips and grabbed his hand to pull him inside. "I have been checking at the door every five minutes and waited for you." She then leaned forward and continued, "I miss you."

His lips tilted into a smile upon hearing her words. The hands that were holding hers tightened and his eyes were staring back at her dotingly.

At this time, Xu Yilan came out of the kitchen. Her eyes widened in surprise. She quickly recovered and a wide smile appeared on her lips. "Yu Han, you're here? When did you arrive?"

Zhang Yu Han nodded at her mother-in-law. "Mom, I just arrived."

Xu Yilan wiped her hand on a clean cloth before she went forward to pull her son-in-law's hands to the sofa. "Come in, come in. Don't just stand at the entrance. You must be tired. Sit down."

Upon seeing his mother-in-law's enthusiasm for him, Zhang Yu Han was dumbfounded. He then turned to his wife with a puzzled look. For a few seconds, he could not understand what was going on.

Didn't his wife tell him that her mother had found out about her pregnancy? Why was his mother-in-law treating hi warmly?

Zhang Yu Han soon got his answer with Xu Yilan's questions at him.

"Yu Han, I heard that you were having morning sickness? How was it? Bad?"

Zhang Yu Han glanced at his wife again before he answered, "Mom, you don't have to worry. It was bad for the first few weeks, but was slowly getting better."

Xu Yilan put a hand on her ċhėst and sighed. "That's good. That's good." She then lifted her head as a thought crossed her mind. "Yu Han, you sit here and watch television. Mom made you some soup to nourish your body. It should be ready soon."

For a few seconds, Zhang Yu Han found that his brain was not functioning properly at how his mother-in-law was treating him. However, he nodded obediently and told her that he would be alright. "Mom, did you need me to change a light bulb for you?"

"No need." Xu Yilan waved her hand. "Why bother about light bulb when you're in this condition. Just sit down and rest."

"Oh," Zhang Yu Han nodded. Once his mother-in-law disappeared to the kitchen, he then turned to his wife again and saw the laughter in her eyes. "Qin Yao," he whispered. "What's wrong with mom?"

Li Qin Yao giggled as she sat beside her husband. Seeing the strange expression on his face, Li Qin Yao suddenly wondered what was in his mind. Lifting her hand, she then flicked at his forehead and found it satisfying. Perhaps this was the reason her husband love to flick at her forehead.

"What nonsense were you thinking about?" Li Qin Yao asked.

Zhang Yu Han glanced at the kitchen direction and whispered to his wife, "I always found your mother a bit frightening."

"My mom? Frightening?" For a second Li Qin Yao did not think that they were talking about the same person. Years of living as her mother's daughter, Li Qin Yao had never thought of her mother as a frightening person. Sure, she might be a bit strict than her late father, but she was never a frightening person.

"Zhang Yu Han, I am the one who is pregnant, but you're the one with a baby's brain?" Li Qin Yao looked at her husband with a helpless gaze.

"The first time I saw your mother, she gave me a threatening look," Zhang Yu Han complained. "You don't know how frightening your mother was when she invited me to have a chat with her the moment she found out that we were dating."

"You're being ridiculous. My mom adored you." Li Qin Yao poked at his ċhėst. "Haven't you noticed? After you married me, my mom treats you better than the way she treats me. Just now, you did not see how she was anxious upon hearing that you were going through morning sickness. She wanted you to come for dinner so that she can feed you with nutritious food."

Zhang Yu Han chuckled at his wife's words.

"The way I see it, it was as if you're the one who got pregnant, and not me."

His eyes glinted and his lips tilted into an amused smile. It was then that he noticed the concerned look on his mother-in-law's face earlier. He secretly let out a sigh in relief upon knowing that his mother-in-law was not after his life, or have any intention to cut any part of his body.

The couple chatted for a while and Xu Yilan then walked out carrying a big bowl of soup. "Yu Han, Qin Yao, come. Dinner's ready. Let's eat before the food gets cold."

Li Qin Yao stood up and held her husband's hand as she led him to the dining table. At this time, she could not help but to look at Zhang Yu Han's expression and laughed when she noticed the apprehension on his face.

As the three of them sat around the table, Li Qin Yao noticed the way her mother was treating her husband. Looking at how her mother would scoop some dishes and made him drink more soup, Li Qin Yao stared at her mother in dissatisfaction.

"Ma, look at you. So eager to feed your son-in-law. I'm the one who was carrying your grandchild in my stomach," Li Qin Yao joked. "Shouldn't you let me drink that soup more?"

"This soup will help Yu Han to alleviate the morning sickness. Of course, he has to drink more. Anyway, going through morning sickness is not an easy thing," Xu Yilan said before she turned to her son-in-law. "Yu Han, drink more."

Seeing the way the mother and daughter talked, Zhang Yu Han quickly clipped at one of his wife's favorite dishes and put it on her bowl. "Qin Yao, you should eat too."

Li Qin Yao glanced at her husband and raised a brow as if telling him that her words earlier were the truth. Her mother did treat him better.
