Once Song Yi hung up the phone call with his new friend, Fu Yi Chen, he spent a long time thinking about his advice as he stood at the fire escape stairs.
Fu Yi Chen had praised his ability to control himself and stop acting rashly. Every time he had the urge to hold Han Yue Xiu in his arms, Song Yi would give this new friend a call and he would offer him his consultation no matter what time he had called.
In the beginning, Song Yi had doubted Fu Yi Chen's intention to help him. But after investigating this man's background, Song Yi found that the man in his early forty had no motive to get close to him. His looks were just average and his pocket was not that deep, but Fu Yi Chen was good at his words and attracting girls.
Seeing the way Fu Yi Chen was treating his wife, Song Yi wanted to trust that this man will be able to help him and therefore, he had lowered his guard against the man.
Anyway, as long as Fu Yi Chen could help him to win Han Yue Xiu, he was willing to listen to his advice.
A slight frown appeared on Song Yi's face as he recalled this man's advice.
With someone like Han Yue Xiu, he needed to be patient and continued to treat her kindly. He cannot do anything that would upset her. He should know when to advance and when to retreat.
Sooner or later, Han Yue Xiu will see his effort. Once she was touched with what he had done for her, Han Yue Xiu will slowly accept him and will no longer avoid him as if he was carrying a deadly virus with him.
He could see that after listening to Fu Yi Chen's advice, there were a few changes in his relationship with Han Yue Xiu. As least, Han Yue Xiu did not dislike him as much as she did in the past.
A helpless smile curled on his lips at the thought that their relationship might turn back to the way a few months ago. It doesn't matter if their relationship would go back to the employer and subordinates' relationship. As long as he can have Han Yue Xiu by his side, Song Yi thought that he would be satisfied. He simply did not want to lose her from his side again.
After giving himself a pep talk, Song Yi then headed back upstairs but found that Han Yue Xiu was no longer around. A look of disappointment flashed through his eyes, but Song Yi quickly composed himself when he noticed that Mother Han was looking at him.
He smiled at the elderly woman and greeted her amiably. "Auntie."
"Song Yi, you're here." The smile on Mother Han's face widened. "Are you looking for Han Yue Xiu?"
Song Yi nodded with a short hum. "She's not here?"
"Un. That girl went out with her friend, Li Qin Yao, just two minutes ago," Mother Han said. "I guess it will take a while before she will return."
Song Yi froze for a few seconds.
It seemed that he was too late and had missed Han Yue Xiu by a few minutes. He was planning to see her before his flight to Y City that night. The elders had called and had asked him to return for an important matter.
He did not know when he can see her again.
At this time, Song Yi saw that Mother Han had tried to get off the bed to the side table and he rushed to her side to help her. "Auntie, what do you need? I can help you."
"Just pour me a glass of water." A chuckle escaped her as she watched the handsome man poured a glass of water for her with a serious look on his face. After a few seconds, the man turned to her and handed her the glass.
"Thank You." Mother Han took a few sips of the water and smiled at Song Yi. "That reminds me… I haven't thanked you for helping me the other day in Country S. I heard that it was you who called the ambulance and stayed with my daughter and helped her to calm down."
"Auntie, it was my responsibility as your neighbor. I could not possibly leave you when your life was in danger."
Mother Han laughed at his answer. "My daughter can be very stubborn, but she had a very kind heart." A helpless smile curled on her lips as she thought of her only daughter.
Song Yi replied with a slight smile.
"You," Mother Han paused as she gave him a hesitant gaze. "You like my daughter, right?"
Song Yi did not answer her immediately. A few seconds passed before he gave her a slight nod. Seeing this, Mother Han let out a sigh.
"I don't know what happened between the two of you or what kind of misunderstanding the two of you have," Mother Han spoke. "But as Yue Xiu's mother, I hope that you can continue to be patient to her."
Previously, Mother Han had seen how the two of them had interacted in Country S. Although she had thought that Song Yi seemed like a nice man, her daughter had convinced her that Song Yi was not a good man. She had tried to find out why her daughter did not like Song Yi, but her daughter would not say a word.
As a mother, the only thing she can wish for was for her daughter to meet the right man who will treat her right. As long as the man would not do anything that would hurt her daughter, then, she would be satisfied.
A weak smile appeared on Song Yi's lips. "But Han Yue Xiu… she did not like me that way. Maybe, I'm just not her type."
Mother Han stared at the man in front of her for a few seconds longer. "Well, that's true. In the past, Han Yue Xiu used to date men with a bright personality. You don't seem like the type my daughter would date."
Hearing her words, Song Yi's face turned a few shades darker. Does that mean that he never stood a chance with Han Yue Xiu?
Should he work on his personality and try to be cheery?
Mother Han saw that the man's expression turned slightly ugly though he had tried very hard to mask it. A chuckle escaped her and Song Yi raised his head to look at Mother Han again.
"But you have to remember, there are differences in the type of man a girl would want to date and a man she wanted to marry."
Hearing Mother Han's words, a spark of light ignited in his heart.
