Once Grandfather Song and Father Song heard that Song Yi was coming over with Han Yue Xiu, the two dropped whatever work they have and went back home for dinner.
The house was lively and dinner with the Song's family went out smoothly.
The elders kept urging Han Yue Xiu to eat more and Song Yi would put more dishes on her bowl until she felt as if her stomach was going to burst anytime soon.
Fortunately, Song Yi had suggested them to have a walk in the backyard to help to digest the meal.
The Song's backyard had a beautiful landscape with small ponds, path stones, and various flowers. The backyard was facing the woods and because the residence was located at a higher ground, the temperature at night was a bit cold. The dark backyard was illuminated with the garden light.
Han Yue Xiu walked around the pond and took a deep breath in the clean air. She grew up in big cities and found that the surrounding landscape was very pleasing. However, at this time, her mind was preoccupied with worry about her friend.
Just as she was about to take a step forward, Han Yue Xiu felt him tugging at her hand before her body was pulled into a warm embrace. With arms wrapped around her waist and his chin rested on the shoulder, Han Yue Xiu leaned back to his ċhėst.
"Still worrying about your friend?" Song Yi asked.
"Hmm," Han Yue Xiu nodded.
"You don't have to worry too much," Song Yi said. "Your friend's husband is someone from a very capable family. They will not let your friend suffer from any grievance."
Han Yue Xiu knew a little bit about Zhang Yu Han's family connection through Yao Yao. Although she knew that he was very capable to help Li Qin Yao clean up her name, Han Yue Xiu could not help but worry.
"I know," Han Yue Xiu spoke. "But I cannot stop worrying. The same thing had happened to Yao Yao previously and in that period, she was very heartbroken," Han Yue Xiu could still remember that expression on Li Qin Yao's face when they went out on public once. Being out in public would make her tremble with fear. It took her a long time before she could recover and go out again. "Yao Yao is a good girl, but a lot of bad things keep on happening to her. I just wanted her to be happy."
Song Yi tightened his embrace on her body, letting her calm down and the couple stayed that way for a long time. After a while, Han Yue Xiu raised her hand and put them on top of his hands. The moment their skin touched, a frown appeared on Song Yi's face.
"Your hands are cold," Song Yi pointed out. He grasped her hands and tried to warm them with his palm. "Let's go inside before you catch a cold."
Han Yue Xiu smiled as she watched him. She let him tangled their hands before he let her inside.
The house was very quiet as the couple walked in.
Song Yi glanced at the time. "They probably have gone to bed." He turned to Han Yue Xiu and spoke again, "You should go and rest too. Didn't you say we need to wake up early and head over to your friend's place?"
A soft laugh escaped her and Han Yue Xiu quickly looked away. Her gaze stopped at the door next to her. Han Yue Xiu pushed him away and raised a brow at him. "That is your room, right?"
Song Yi nodded. "Hmm."
"Can I look around? Do you mind?"
Song Yi froze for a few seconds before he stepped aside to let her move. "There isn't anything interesting there. But sure, go ahead."
"This is the house you grow up in. I bet there's going to be some interesting stuff in there," Han Yue Xiu wriggled her brow teasingly at him.
A chuckle escaped him. Song Yi put his hand on the knob before he led her in.
Han Yue Xiu walked into Song Yi's room and was not surprised to find that everything was neat and tidy. Song Yi's room was very big, almost three times the size of her living room. There was a big bed at the center of the room, a large wardrobe, a study, and a tall bookcase with books that were mostly about computers and programming. In short, this room was exactly what Han Yue Xiu had imagined.
"What are you looking for?"
Han Yue Xiu turned to him and narrowed her eyes. "What? You have something you wanted to hide from me?"
"Of course not," Song Yi cleared his throat. When his girlfriend continued to look around, Song Yi started to think if he had hidden anything that he did not want Han Yue Xiu to find in his room.
Fortunately, Han Yue Xiu was only interested in looking at the books on his bookcase. Though she was curious to see at what was inside his room, Han Yue Xiu just walked around with her arms crossed on her ċhėst and she did not try to peer into his drawers or such.
Song Yi did not know whether he should be happy or disappointed. He did not want her to find anything that would make her dislike him, but at the same time, he could not help but wonder if Han Yue Xiu was not curious enough to know more about him. If he had the opportunity to go into her room, he would want to look into every drawer and every corner just to know more about her preferences.
They have been dating for a few months. He could see that Han Yue Xiu was starting to warm up to him and had accepted him as her boyfriend. But Song Yi did not know whether she loved him.
"Why do you have these candies here?"
Song Yi snapped out of his trance and saw that Han Yue Xiu had picked up a piece of that white rabbit candy that he had put in a small jar on his desk.
"Didn't you say that they tasted disgusting?" Han Yue Xiu teased.
Song Yi lowered his gaze and touched at his nose. "It's not disgusting. It's just that… I am not a fan of sweets."
Han Yue Xiu walked over to him and stared at him with the candy in her hand. "But you still keep them here. Looking at the amount of those candies, I don't think that they were taken from my stock."
She could still remember that Song Yi had confessed that he had taken some of the candies from her desk.
"I bought them," Song Yi admitted. He met Han Yue Xiu's gaze and spoke, "Back then, you were so determined to reject me. Whenever I started to think of you, I would take one candy to eat. After a while, it did not taste so bad. I still did not like to eat sweet stuff, but I can accept the taste of those candies."
Her expression started to change. His words surprised her. Han Yue Xiu continued to stare back into his eyes and soon shifted away with her cheek slightly flushed.
When Song Yi had come over to S Country to confess to her, Han Yue Xiu had thought that he had wanted to play around with her and therefore, she had not taken him seriously and had wanted him to stay away from her.
But after spending her time with him, Han Yue Xiu she started to wonder if he had liked her from the start. She started to notice a lot of things about him that would make her heart flutter.
Han Yue Xiu looked away from him and started to walk around again. She raised her hand and noticed that she was still holding that candy.
A thought flashed through her mind and Han Yue Xiu glanced towards the slightly ajar door.
Song Yi was starting to worry when his girlfriend did not talk for a long time. His eyes flashed with panic when he watched her head to the door. He had thought that he had done or said something wrong that had made her upset.
But instead of leaving his room, Han Yue Xiu closed the door and turned around.
Song Yi snapped out of his trance when the taste of the sweet milky taste of that white rabbit candy lingered in his mouth. But before he was able to continue and savor the sweet taste, Han Yue Xiu had pulled away from him.
"How is it? Does it still taste bad to you?" She tilted her head sideways.
Song Yi let out a chuckle. His gaze was glued to her pink lips that were an inch away from his. "No." He leaned to kiss her lips again. "I think I really like this taste."
