Chapter 446 - Side Story 6: Let's Get Married

After staying over at the Song's residence for the first time, Han Yue Xiu has become a frequent visitor to their home. Whenever she came over to Y City with Song Yi, Grandmother Song would insist for them to stay at the residence.

Grandmother Song would talk to Han Yue Xiu until it was too late before she was persuaded to stay. After this incident happened a few times, Han Yue Xiu simply gave up trying to reject the elders' invitation.

Soon, Han Yue Xiu became familiar with the family members. Though she would still expect that Song Yi's mother was going to chase her away with some money, those things simply did not happen. Instead, Han Yue Xiu was given very good treatment whenever she was around. Her relationship with Song Yi's mother became close that the two had taken the flight to go on a trip together.

As Song Yi had told his family that he was not going to marry anyone other than Han Yue Xiu, both Grandmother Song and Mother Song took part in trying to lure her into the family. Song Yi was the only one in his generation who was not yet married. Therefore the elders were worried for him. It was only when he had a wife beside him and a few kids will the elders be at ease.

Though Song Yi was more than happy to give the elders what they wanted, he was someone who had learned the hard way that Han Yue Xiu was not someone who they can force into doing something that she did not like. He can only court her slowly and be on his best behavior to coax his woman.

Soon, the couple's relationship became serious and a marriage talked surfaced.

To Song Yi's surprise, Han Yue Xiu did not object the idea as much as he had thought. But, she did not agree for them to get married immediately either.

The company that the two had established was quite new and Han Yue Xiu wanted to focus on working on their project until the company was stabilized. 

According to Han Yue Xiu, once the company was stabilized, she planned to quit her job while continuing as a partner in the company. She was going to let Song Yi be the decision-maker, while she was going to focus on her marriage and preparing to have a child.

Anyway, she was going to stay at home and the profit would still enter her bank account.

Song Yi was very happy to hear this opinion. His girlfriend was thinking of marrying him and had thought about having a child together. Why would he not be happy about it?

But, for him to start thinking about having a child, first, he needed to work hard on his company. The thought that the project would take a while before it succeeded made Song Yi wanted to cry.

Whenever Han Yue Xiu and Li Qin Yao hangout together, Song Yi would often glance at the child in Li Qin Yao's arms with his eyes full of envy.

Time passed, and the two of them have been dating for three years.

The company that the two of them were going well and was in the middle of a discussion for a big collaboration project. Once they signed the documents, the money would be enough for the company to last for more than a year.

On that one morning, Song Yi was reading a few files when Han Yue Xiu suddenly barged into his office. Knowing that Han Yue Xiu was the only person who would dare to enter his office without knocking, Song Yi lifted his head and smiled. However, the smile immediately disappeared when he saw Han Yue Xiu's pale face.

"What's wrong?" Song Yi stood up from his chair and walked over to hold his girlfriend.

"Song Yi, I'm heading over to Y City," Han Yue Xiu spoke with a trembling voice. "Something happened to Yao Yao."

Han Yue Xiu told him that Zhang Yu Han was involved in an accident and he was now in a coma. As Li Qin Yao's best friend, she wanted to be her strength.

After delegating their task to the staff, both Han Yue Xiu took the flight and headed over to Y City. Once they arrived, they took a cab and headed to the hospital.

Zhang Yu Han was still in a coma, and Han Yue Xiu was surprised upon seeing that her friend was wearing a hospital gown as she stayed by her husband's side.

"Yue Xiu, thank you for coming," Li Qin Yao said Han Yue Xiu wrapped her arms around her shoulder. She glanced to the side and greeted Song Yi with a nod.

"I come over as soon as I heard the news," Han Yue Xiu said. She pulled away and looked at the clothes that her friend was wearing. "Yao Yao, why are you wearing that?"

Li Qin Yao gave her a weak smile. "I was too shock upon hearing the news."

Han Yue Xiu gritted her teeth as she tried her best not to cry. She held her friend's hand tightly as if trying to channel whatever strength she has. Her gaze then moved to the person who was lying down on the bed. "How is he?"

"The operation went out smoothly. The doctor said that he is recovering well," Li Qin Yao said. "Just that, we are not sure when he will wake up."

Han Yue Xiu stayed at the hospital to accompany her friend for a long time. It was only when the visiting hours ended that Han Yue Xiu and Song Yi left and head over to the Song's residence.

"Don't worry," Song Yi tried to coax his girlfriend. "I have talked to the doctor earlier. He will wake up soon."

Han Yue Xiu stayed in his embrace and let him hug her tighter. "I hope so."

With Zhang Yu Han's condition still unknown, Han Yue Xiu had stayed in Y City to accompany her friend every day. Seeing the distressed look on her friend's face, Han Yue Xiu was worried but found herself that she was unable to say anything to make her friend at ease. The only thing she could do was to be around. 

Han Yue Xiu could not imagine what will happen to her friend if something goes wrong with her husband. She had been by Li Qin Yao's side even before the two started to date. She had seen how Zhang Yu Han treated her friend and knew that he was Li Qin Yao's source of strength. Without him, Yao Yao was going to be heartbroken.

As soon as Han Yue Xiu left the hospital, she no longer had the energy to put up a strong facade, and each time, Song Yi would have to coax her as he came and pick her up to go back to the Song's residence. Although Song Yi wished that there was something he could do to cheer her up, at this time, they can only wait until Zhang Yu Han woke up. 

Fortunately, five days after the accident, Zhang Yu Han woke up from his coma. Han Yue Xiu looked at her friend who could not bear to leave her husband's side and could no longer suppress her tears.

"Why are you crying?" 

Han Yue Xiu buried her head in Song Yi's neck as spoke with a hoarse voice. "I'm happy."

Song Yi let out a soft sigh as he patted his girlfriend's back. The two stayed that way for a few minutes until Han Yue Xiu had calm down. Then, they returned to the ward to visit the two before they left to let the couple spend their time alone.

As soon as they went back to the Song's residence, Han Yue Xiu went back into the guest room and took a long shower. When she came out and fully dressed, her expression had changed. It was as if she had a long thought in the bathroom and had come out with a resolution.

Han Yue Xiu went to the next door and rapped her knuckles on the door.

Seconds later, Song Yi appeared at the door with a gentle smile on his face. He quickly stepped aside to let her in.

"Are you still working?" Han Yue Xiu glanced at the ŀȧptop on the desk and saw the screen. Looking at how he was still working while accompanying her in Y City, Han Yue Xiu felt a tinge of guilt. 

"It's alright," Song Yi spoke. "Brother Fu sent over some documents to be checked. I should be able to finish it soon."

"Sorry. That was supposed to be my job."

It was not hard to figure out that Song Yi had prevented others from finding her and instead let the staff contact him if they needed anything. 

Song Yi held on both her hands and smiled. "Hey, we're partners. We are supposed to share our workload."

Han Yue Xiu flashed him a faint smile. She looked away and hesitated. "Are you busy? Can we talk?"

Seeing the serious look on her face, Song Yi began to panic a little bit. "What's wrong?"

Han Yue Xiu stayed in silence for a few seconds. Then, she tilted her head to meet his gaze and spoke, "Song Yi, let's get married."

It took him a while to ȧssure himself that he had not misheard things. "What?"

Han Yue Xiu tightened her grip on his hand and spoke, "Being around Yao Yao these past few days… I realized that the time we have together is very limited. We might be alright now, but none of us can predict what will happen in the future. What if… something happened to me? Or to you?"

"You silly girl, we will be alright." Song Yi tried to smile. "We will live for a long time together."

Han Yue Xiu put a finger on his lips. "Just hear me out." She watched him stared at her with a puzzled expression and continued. "I think that, instead of waiting for the right moment, what I need to do is to seize the moment. Therefore, instead of waiting for the company to stabilize, let's just… get married. I don't want to waste our time. I just want to be together with you."

Song Yi stared back at her and saw the resolve in her eyes. After a while, his lips curled into a smile. "Alright. Let's get married."
