As soon as Noah teleported, during the first explosion the two wolves had already noticed that there was someone else there, that the noise was definitely not natural.
With the portal open, Noah immediately felt that the system had already started to absorb the totem. All the energy that the totem had acquired during all the years that it was there was being absorbed by the system with an absurd speed, to the point that even the wolves felt that there was something wrong, not to mention the other monsters that would probably come after they started to feel the energy that was being siphoned here.
Noah did not bother to give these wolves time to understand exactly what was going on. Knowing that the resistance of these monsters that were guarding the totem was probably much greater than those wild boars he had already encountered, Noah invested more mana in the Fire Claws, and feeling that the mana was being drained like water, he bit the corner of his lip and tried to rip a part of the head of one of the wolves.
Unfortunately for the wolf, the speed of Noah's teleportation was instantaneous, so even though he realized there was something wrong, he didn't have enough reaction time to try to deal with that human. In just a fraction of a second he felt that the left half of his head was burning, to the point that he could not think naturally. Fortunately for the wolf this attack had not penetrated very deeply into his head. This surprised Noah even more, since he didn't expect that even though he had poured so much mana into this attack the stone wolf could resist so much damage.
If one were to compare stone monsters, it would be something like while wild boars were made of fine ceramic, these wolves were made of marble. That amount of mana that Noah used would definitely need to be greater. The resistance that the boars had was almost nothing for him, but against these wolves, even though out of the 17 mana points he had, he had already spent 2, leaving only 15, he hadn't even managed to cause a fatal injury to either of these wolves.
But Noah did not give up; the other wolf was already running towards him at a very high speed, forcing Noah to teleport another time, taking advantage of the blind spot he had left on the other wolf now with half of his face burned.
Of course, when that wolf heard the noise of the first explosion of fire from Noah's teleportation, he instinctively tried to jump back and avoid this human, but it was not without good reason that Space Blessings are considered OP.
Ignoring the wolf's movement, Noah once again appeared beside him, taking advantage of the blind eye the wolf now had, and injected 4 mana points directly into the [Fire Claw] surrounding his right hand, turning that claw into an extremely powerful lethal weapon. Those 4 mana points represented almost 25% of his total mana, so he was also taking a lot of risks with this attack.
But fortunately, as soon as the [Fire Claw] came into contact with the monster's head, Noah felt a resistance as weak as a hot knife would feel when trying to cut through butter. In the beginning it was easy, but over time it became a little more difficult, until it finally cut through everything. The wolf didn't even have time to respond and fell dead instantly.
The other wolf, seeing that his companion had fallen dead in just two attacks, was seething with rage. Ignoring the probability of being able to die in two attacks as well, he hurled himself at Noah with an even faster speed than before.
At that point Noah still had his hand inside the head of the other wolf. He wouldn't be able to take his hand out quickly to teleport, much less would he be able to teleport with his hand inside the wolf's head, since if he did that, the corpse of the Rank C monster would also go with him, increasing the skill's mana cost to a level that he might not even be able to afford.
With a pain in his heart, Noah summoned two imps in front of him. Both were imps who had no skills, clearly just expected to be cannon fodder and die for him, trying their best to gain some extra time.
The two imps had no concept of disloyalty in their heads; the only thing they thought, the reason they were created, was exclusively to serve Lucifer, so even though they knew this order was suicidal and that they would hardly be able to survive one attack from this wolf, the two little guys still ran toward the big monster to try to at least gain one second for their master.
The wolf, who was incensed at seeing his partner die in front of his eyes, saw that two more vile creatures had just appeared, but his anger was still focused on the human in the back. With his mouth open, the wolf just slowed down a bit to claw the heads of these Rank E imps off with extreme ease, as if they were just dog toys, but for Noah, that little opening that the imps had already made by having this wolf slow down was enough for him to rip his hand out of the head of the corpse of the other wolf and notice that he had brought out something strange from there.
Looking at his own hand curiously, Noah realized he was holding a large orange glowing ball. According to all the concepts of human biology, something like this would never exist inside someone's body, but Noah already knew what this most likely was. This shiny ball was probably what he was looking for: the monster essence that could raise someone's stats as soon as the person consumed it.
With a smile on his face, Noah didn't even think twice about swallowing the ball of energy, hoping for a result that would satisfy him.
