Chapter 19 - Angeline, The Digestive Organ's Destroyer

Angeline closed her eyes, took in as deep a breath as possible and exhaled slowly. Now that the girl opened her eyes, her gaze showed a high level of seriousness.

In front of her, several raw food ingredients were presented along with the kitchen tools to make it.

Angeline brought all of her hair back and tied it in a pony-tail shape with a hair tie that had been on her wrist, and she tucked some of the remaining hair behind her ear.

Now that Angeline is completely ready, with the apron strap tied perfectly through her waist to the back, Angeline presses the play button on her iPad and shows a video of a famous chef practicing how to make easy fried rice.

Angeline had previously been researching some easy dishes to make and also figured whether David would like it or not.

Angeline remembers David once quipped about the chef who worked at the Stockholm Corporation cafeteria, saying that the chef was Chef Juna from Indonesia.

And typical Indonesian food that according to Angeline is easiest to make is fried rice.

"First of all, saute the onion and garlic slices until they smell."

Angeline puts the onion and garlic slices into the palm oil that has been heated over low heat in the pan according to the amount in the recipe. Even though the onion slices were in a messy shape.

Even Angeline doesn't know that the skin of the onions has to be peeled first, she just slices it up right away using a large kitchen knife that is usually used to chop chicken or beef.

Thanks to the large knife, she now had four bandages on her fingers.

Even the girl hadn't started cooking, just preparing the ingredients, but her hand was already injured.

"When the smell smells good, put the carrots and saute until tender."

Angeline put the carrot pieces of various shapes; from dice pieces that vary in size, to other shapes such as triangles, parallelograms, and some even look like a crescent moon.

It's really magical.

"Enter the sausage and beaten egg, stir until the eggs are cooked."

Angeline put the pieces of beef sausage along with the egg that she had beaten before. It wasn't stated in the recipe what to put in the beaten egg first, so Angeline put several tablespoons of salt in it without knowing how much to add.

The girl also remembered that her aunt had put a little cilantro in the egg beaten. Angeline followed her instincts and put in a few grams of cilantro too.

But the difference is, she doesn't pound it first. The coriander seeds were still intact and which would have been difficult for teeth to break down.

Angeline frowned. In the video, the egg stir fry looks yellow and becomes scrambled into small pieces, while what Angeline makes becomes an omelette, with various carrots, sausages and coriander seeds still intact on the surface.

Several times Angeline looked at the frying pan and the iPad in turn. "He said stirred earlier. Am I stirring the wrong turn? Should I stir it clockwise?"

Luckily Angeline was alone in the apartment because David was away since this morning. If not, he would have been laughed at by David for this rhetorical question that sounded ridiculous.

"When it's cooked, add the rice and stir until it blends with the stir fry."

Angeline threw away doubts. From inside the rice cooker he took out rice which looked more like porridge. This time Angeline smiled, as she stirred the rice--more precisely the porridge--clockwise.

As a result, the rice rotates clockwise over the omelette. Until without realizing it, the bottom of the omelette blackened and burned.

"If the rice is mixed with the stir fry, add two tablespoons of chili paste, one tablespoon of chili sauce, oyster sauce and tomato sauce, along with half a tablespoon of sweet soy sauce and soy sauce."

Angeline added the spices while singing softly. She began to feel confident about the first dish she was going to serve David.

The girl felt that David would be pleased with her cooking.

But her confidence began to drop dramatically when she smelled a burnt smell coming out of her cooking.

Angeline turned off the stove and put the pizza on a plate with a spatula after adding more salt to taste according to the instructions from the cooking tutorial video that was her guide from the start.

Yes, it looks like a pizza, with the basic ingredients of a burnt omelet on the bottom and carrots of various sizes, sausage and whole coriander seeds as toppings. Plus the porridge is reddish due to a mixture of several types of sauces and soy sauce that Angeline spills wholeheartedly.

Angeline finished the dish with the unique appearance by sticking celery leaves on the top of the unique pizza.

Angeline massaged her own forehead, feeling dizzy with the results of the cooking. In fact, she has chosen the recipe that she finds the easiest to follow, but the results are far too different from those in the video.

After mustering up her courage, Angeline took a spoonful of the handiwork that was presented on the kitchen table. And after tasting it, she felt like a failure as someone who is trying to cook.

Moreover, Angeline feels like a failure as someone who tries to cook following cooking tutorial videos. Even for the easiest of all food recipes.

Without realizing it, David had been staring at her for nearly three minutes from the apartment entrance. In his hand was a pocket containing two servings of beef steak made of sirloin, well-done.

Just looking at Angeline's expression from a distance, David could tell what his wife was doing.

David stepped on the lever of the trash can that was near his feet and threw the two portions of steak in his hand into the trash without a second thought.

David walked over, trying not to make the slightest sound until he was standing right behind Angeline. Without further ado he wrapped his arms around Angeline's waist from behind, making the girl gasp in surprise.

"David, you can give me a heart attack!" shouted Angeline, turning her head, found the handsome face of her husband who was smiling kindly.

"You're cooking something? What a coincidence, I'm starving."

"Oh, no ..." Angeline lifted her plate and planned to throw it in the trash, but thanks to David's hug, the girl couldn't move. "I'm not cooking."

"Then what's in your hand?"

"Th-this. Don't eat it. It tastes weird." said Angeline with a face without hope. David took the plate that was in Angeline's hand and put it back on the kitchen table. "What do you want to do?"

David picked up the spoon, "I'm starving, and seeing you make this pretty unique pizza makes me want to try it."

Before David could spoon out the unique food, Angeline cried quite hard, making David stop what he wanted to do before.

Is that how bad it feels? David thought to himself.

Even though David didn't know, Angeline was not crying because the taste of her cooking was far from good, but because David thought it was pizza, which should be fried rice.

David put in a spoonful of porridge along with an omelette with a burnt bottom and chewed it.

Unexpectedly, for whatever sake, it tasted like it made David want to throw it up.

Angeline was still sobbing in front of him. It seemed the girl was trying to hold back her tears, wanting to see how David would react to her cooking.

Now David is faced with two of the most difficult choices in his life.

If he vomited it up, Angeline would be very sad. But if he swallowed it, maybe his digestive organs would scold him from within his own body. And if David didn't keep eating it, Angeline would think David was just pretending to like her cooking.

Even though Angeline already knew, if David swallowed it, it meant David was just being polite to her. Because Angeline has already tasted the taste of her own cooking.

David finally walked over to the refrigerator and took out a bottle of Jack Daniel's Tennesse Whiskey and put it on the dining table, returning to the kitchen to get the plate filled with Angeline's cooking.

David sat across from Angeline's cooking and a bottle of whiskey.

He took a deep breath, prepared himself mentally and started eating Angeline's cooking, and drank the whiskey after two or three mouthfuls until the plate was empty and there was nothing left of the whiskey bottle left as well.

Angeline was just stunned to see what David was doing.

The girl was confused what to say, did not understand what David meant to do something like that.

Angeline just thought that she had a strange husband.
