Angeline gaped as their taxi entered the grounds of a five-star hotel on the edge of the beach. The words Fairmont Orchid are printed on the front of the hotel.
The girl was really amazed by what she saw with her own eyes at this time, really a luxurious hotel, complete with a panoramic view of the beach which has white sand and blue skies that stretch as far as the eye can see.
David got off first, walked to the receptionist and booked a room for 489 dollars or the equivalent of six million eight hundred fifty eight thousand rupiah per night for one full week, a room with one king-size bed with a wide view of the sea, a 42-inch TV that connected by satellite channels, the bathroom has marble floors in a Western European style, complete with all amenities such as a cooler filled with various kinds of bottles of alcoholic drinks from all over the world and also a coffee maker.
Perhaps what David likes the most is the coffee maker, because lately, somehow Daniel loves coffee. Coffee is his mandatory companion when he is working with a firearm he bought on the black market and he modified it himself.
And the reason David didn't ask Angeline to come to the reception desk was, Angeline would have forced David to choose the cheapest room for the same reason every time they argued about David's habit of always putting quality over quantity.
"We will not know what will happen in the future. Who knows, a dollar will mean so much when the time comes. For that, we must save as much as possible." that's Angeline's signature line that always rings in David's head. And for some reason, David could never win an argument with Angeline.
Yep, the mafia who is very feared and respected, almost never wins an argument with his beloved wife, Angeline, the only girl who has succeeded in conquering David's icy heart.
Believe it or not, every debate that occurs between David and Angeline, always ends with David giving in and apologizing to Angeline even though sometimes he is not in the wrong position.
David really didn't want to argue for too long with Angeline. And because he thinks Angeline is something he will take care of until the end of his life, he doesn't mind being labeled a husband who is afraid of his wife, as long as it's for the good of their relationship.
David walked back to the taxi with the two hotel maids following him. David opened the passenger door and led Angeline out of the taxi car, while two hotel maids who were behind him opened the trunk of the taxi and hauled their belongings and carried it to the room David had booked.
Angeline looked around. The atmosphere was clearly very different from the city where they lived. And a reddish tinge faintly etched on Angeline's cheeks when she saw two people who seemed to be lovers walking past her.
The man only wears shorts, while the woman only wears a bikini that almost shows all the parts that should be covered by every woman.
Suddenly Angeline turned to look at David who saw her back. David frowned, not understanding the meaning of Angeline's gaze.
Even though David did not know that what Angeline's gaze meant, David had to watch his eyes. Because there are so many women showing off their skin and walking around like shameless people.
Angeline may be someone who grew up in the modern era, but she is still not used to the western lifestyle that upholds freedom in expressing themselves.
They were finally in the room David ordered. As expected, Angeline gave another look that indicated that the woman was ready to start a war with David.
"How much is this room?" asked Angeline, causing David to exhale heavily.
"Four hundred and eighty-nine dollars a night." said David as he took off one by one the shirt he was wearing.
"Aren't there rooms cheaper than this?"
David finished unbuttoning his shirt and hanging the shirt neatly on a coat hanger. "There are many."
"Then, why did you choose this room?" Angeline continued to bombard David with questions. In his heart, David preferred to be hit by bullets from automatic firearms rather than being bombarded with questions from Angeline.
If David answered because this was the room with the best facilities, Angeline would start her lecture on the issue of 'quality' and 'quantity'.
If he answered because he wanted to make Angeline feel comfortable, Angeline would of course argue by saying she would be comfortable anywhere as long as she be with him. A sweet answer tough, but still doesn't run from the context that David has chosen the wrong room that is too expensive.
In the end, David gave up on the last answer option he had in his head.
"Because ..." David hung up the answer, walked over to Angeline and unzipped the jacket the girl was wearing, helped her take off her jacket and neatly hung it on a coat hanger. "This room has a WiFi network with the highest speed compared to other rooms."
Angeline rolled her eyes lazily and chose to walk first to the bathroom to clean herself.
David, who was already wearing shorts without a shirt covering his upper body, began to take things out of his suitcase as well as Angeline's, arranging them neatly in their respective places.
David does have a very neat and clean personality. He just feels uncomfortable if he has to spend his vacation in a messy place. Maybe he could get the hotel maid to organize their belongings into the cupboard, but David chose to do it himself. There is no specific reason, he just wanted to do it.
When he was done with what he was doing, David walked to the balcony which was in front of their room. The scenery is truly very beautiful. The blue ocean that stretched out wide as far as the eye could see was something very difficult to find in the urban area where they lived.
Just as David was about to enjoy his cigarette, a voice made David turn toward the bathroom. He put the cigarette pack and the lighter on the table and walked toward the bathroom where Angeline was still in and locked the door.
David paused and put his ear close to the bathroom door.
"Hueeekkkk ... "
It was clear Angeline was vomiting. David turned the doorknob but because the door was locked from the inside, he finally knocked on the bathroom door, "Angel? Are you okay?"
"Hueeekkkk ... no, I'm fine. I just ... Hueeekkkk ... have motion sickness. My stomach is just a little unfriendly. There's no need to worry."
From the intonation of Angeline's voice, David could tell that the girl was lying. If it was just jet-lag, why would Angeline lie?
"Should we check your condition at the hospital?" asked David, of course he was worried.
The sound of a key opening was heard. Angeline came out of the bathroom and smiled, "It's okay. I just need a little rest."
David's gaze focused on the sweat dripping down Angeline's forehead. David placed the back of his hand on Angeline's forehead and found that the sweat was a cold sweat.
David didn't understand why Angeline had to lie when she was sick?
Actually, what was she trying to hide?
David looked Angeline's eyes with a look full of concern, "Are you sure?"
Angeline also held David's hand which was still on her forehead. "No, I'm fine, just need to sleep."
David knew that Angeline must be hiding from him. But seeing Angeline insist on like that, saying that she was fine like that, made David finally relented. There was nothing he could do if Angeline tried to hide it.
David thought there was no need to force her. When the time came, Angeline would have told herself what she was trying to hide.
David just thought, whatever was going to happen, whatever it was that Angeline was trying to hide from him, David just had to stay by her side so that David could take care for whatever Angeline couldn't finish.
David stroked Angeline's head very gently, "Okay, I'll order dinner."
David contacted the hotel reception to order food. This hotel has a special delivery service for VIP rooms. For other rooms, they have to go down to the cafeteria section if they want to have dinner. The food delivered to the room is for breakfast only. However, for VIP rooms, they will deliver food whenever the visitor wants it.
The sound of the doorbell rings indicating the food they ordered has arrived. David turned and found Angeline who was fast asleep. David quickly walked toward the door, not wanting the food delivery man to ring the bell a second time and disturb Angeline's sleep.
David opened the door, in front of him stood a hotel maid carrying a trolley filled with food that David ordered.
"No need to bring the trolley in, my wife is sleeping. Let me just bring the food."
Just as David took his food, the waiter who delivered the food gave David a letter.
"What is this?"
"I don't know, a woman gave me a tip for delivering this letter to you, sir. I have confirmed there is no metallic element in it with the metal detector we have."
"All right, thanks. You can go."
The waiter bowed politely to David and left with the trolley.
David came in and put the food he ordered on the table and opened a letter that the waiter had given him earlier. A black rose petal fell when David opened the envelope, and on the piece of paper that was inside the envelope was written an inscription that made David grin very wide.
__Have a nice holiday, my dear David. I prepared a present for you.. Just wait, when the time comes, you will definitely get it .__
