Slowly Angeline opened her eyes. The sunshine faintly dazzled her vision. Maybe Angeline was weak enough to travel long distances, because last night she slept too early and woke up when the sun was halfway to the top of it's throne.

She turned to find David still asleep beside her.

This is a very rare moment in the household life of David and Angeline, where Angeline wakes up earlier than David. Of course, usually David had gone to work by the time Angeline woke up in the morning. Even David always prepared Angeline breakfast before he left for work.

Perhaps, it is fair to say, that David is the ideal type of husband for all women around the world. Not only handsome and rich, David also has an athletic body. Moreover, David is also good at cooking and doing housework. And most importantly, David is always nice to his beloved wife, namely Angeline.

Even though Angeline didn't know that the reason why David was still asleep at this time was, because David was exhausted after beating up thirty people who were quite good at fighting, David fought them all alone, and he did it while crying.

That's right, David continued to throw punches and kicks wildly, slamming his opponents mercilessly, breaking every bone he could break without stopping.

And all those brutal things David did while shedding tears.

His mind was filled with times when he will have to take the life of someone who was so precious in his life.

Ainsley was the first person in David's life to make David feel what it was like to have someone he wanted to protect. Even though Ainsley was not David's first love, she had made David feel something he had never felt before.

All this time, David had only felt a thirst to kill all of his opponents on the battlefield. However, with Ainsley's presence in his life, that was the first time David felt how it felt like to protect someone who is precious to him.

Ainsley is like his own younger sister, more than just a student or someone he randomly rescues from human trafficking.

David's frown that frowned while he was still asleep worried Angeline so much. An uneasy face was clearly printed there.

Angeline imagines the time of her first kiss with David. At that time, Angeline tried to wake David from his nightmare, ending with David pulling her head and landing a kiss on her lips without the slightest warning.

Angeline thought for a moment, did David dream of his adoptive father again?

That was a type of nightmare that David often had. David told this to Angeline when they had their honeymoon some time ago.

Angeline pulled herself closer, hugged David who was still asleep in her arms. As much as possible Angeline wanted to comfort him, put David's restlessness away from whatever nightmare he was having, while trying to be as gentle as possible not to wake him up.

Even though Angeline didn't know, what David was dreaming of was that he was standing in a very dark, almost no light in the nearly pitch black room.

He stood up, with the distinctive blood red patch that covered his entire palm.

In front of him lay a woman whom he considered to be his own family.

True, in front of David lay Ainsley's body, which he had killed with his own two hands. And what made David nervous was that he couldn't move his own body. He just stood stunned, in front of Ainsley's corpse, with guilt that seemed to chain every inch of his body, leaving him completely immobile.

The vague image of Ainsley's smile that always appeared every time he saw her, Ainsley's laugh that was so characteristic in David's memory.

Ainsley's intense gaze that showed her sincerity while training with David.

Ainsley's eyes were very deep when caring for him with great affection when he was injured after his brutal fight with his own adoptive father, the big mafia boss Hendrick Brasco.

And David also pictured Ainsley's peaceful face as she fell asleep on his lap under the tree.

Everything was so blurry, yet so clear at the same time. The contradiction of the two things that colored David's life in the past were even too gray to have a color.

And now he just stood in silence in front of Ainsley's body with the blood of the woman who had colored his life before, now is filling his palms.

Rights, Ainsley's blood is now filling David's palm.

The sweat pouring down from David's forehead made Angeline unable to hold it anymore. She patted David gently on the cheek, trying to wake him up from a nightmare that he couldn't share with her.

"David? Wake up!" said Angeline, who was still patting David's face as gently as possible.

David still didn't respond, but Angeline wouldn't just give up either.

"David? Please, wake up!" asked Angeline, still not getting any response from David.

The pace of David's breathing, which was getting faster and faster, was enough to make Angeline feel even more panicked. She knew that her husband was not doing well. Tears began to trickle out of the corners of David's eyes, which were still tightly closed.

During their marriage, this was the first time David had another nightmare. And this time David's body reaction was even worse than before.

Angeline gave an expression of guilt over what she was going to do to wake David up.

Angeline got out of bed, walked into the bathroom, took a bucketful of water and prepared to wake David in a very unpleasant way. Maybe this time David would be angry with her, considering that David had never been angry with Angeline from the time they met until now after becoming husband and wife.

Yep, as has been explained before, David is always the one who gives in and apologizes every time they argue, even though he is not in the wrong position.

Angeline walked back from the bathroom, but she jumped in surprise when David got up from his sleeping position. The man sat on the bed, his pupils reddened and tears pouring down from his puffy eyes.

His body was covered in cold sweat.

At first, Angeline wanted to ask him what he was dreaming of that he became so messy like that. However, Angeline had not yet had the chance to do so, what happened next made Angeline even more shocked.

"Aaaaargh! ..." David shouted very loudly. However, not stopping there, he began to spit out harsh words from his mouth, even though he was not fully conscious. "Bastard! ... Damn it! ... Lowly rats! ... Dogs! ... Motherfucker! ... I'll kill you all! ... You wanna fucking mess with me, huh?! ... Just wait for me, faggot! I'll kill you all!"

David screamed as loud as he could while pulling his own hair. He clenched his fists and beat himself in the chest every time he shouted swear words and curses that he screamed with all his might.

This left Angeline speechless, discouraging her from asking about the dream David had.

Angeline put the ladle filled with water she had taken from the bath tub on the table, walked slowly over to David who was still screaming about gross and dirty things while hurting himself. Even Angeline could clearly hear the sound of David's fist crashing into his own chest.

"I'll kill you all! Isaac! Benedict! Steve! Catty! I'll kill you all!" shouted David, cursing names Angeline had never heard of before, hitting himself in the head in great frustration.

David was already at rock bottom. His mind was completely broken. David had lived a life full of misgivings for years, filled with a sense of resentment that gnawed at his soul every single second.

No matter how tough David is, no matter how cruel and sadistic he is, David is also a human who has a heart. All David did during his life in mafia circles was to be tough, to cover up the cracks in his heart that could break at any time.

And now, the cracks in his heart were actually wide open.

Angeline also drew closer to David who was still cursing at people's name that she didn't know, while crying and hurting himself so badly.

Angeline clutched David's body, wrapped her arms around David's neck and hugged him, trying to give him the best comfort she could.

"Piece of shit! All of you fucking bastards!" shouted David, although Angeline had hugged him, he was still not fully conscious.

"I'll kill you--"

"DAVID, STOP!"

David suddenly stopped. The atmosphere that had been very chaotic was now silent in an instant. David's eyes, which were empty, slowly began to return to normal.

"Stop this right now. You ... You can't lose yourself like this! We promised to go through everything together! You are not alone anymore like before! I'm sorry for not being able to help you bear the burdens you carry inside your heart ... I'm sorry David ... I'm so sorry ... "

Angeline burst into tears, still holding David as if she didn't want to let him go forever.

David closed his eyes, a smile now blooming on his lips. He shook his head softly.

What have I done? Let Angeline say something like this?

It seems I have failed to be a good husband.

David also put his arm around Angeline's body and hugged her back.

"I'm sorry ... I'm sorry David ..."

David did not reply, leaving Angeline to cry as much as she could in his arms. There's nothing more to say. All he could do after this was try no matter what, he couldn't show his side like that again in front of the only woman he loved and make him very worried like now.

In silence, David felt comfortable. He could feel Angeline's love for him so much.

Angeline, the girl David would love more than her own life.
