"of course and as long as I am here you may eat and drink whatever I am cooking. " Aisling tells him as she hands him a cup. The girl goes to start dishes but there is none to be washed. Lucian comes into the kitchen expecting to see the new cook but sees Aisling sitting at the table with the dishwasher and errand boy. the two stand quickly and bow their heads. When she does send her straight to the study." Lucian tells the dishwasher as he accepted the cup of coffee from Aisling. He is about to leave when the new cook comes in. Aisling's eyes grow large when she sees who it is.
"Master Lucian I am sorry for the delay I was not told till this morning to come ." The woman stops dead in her tracks as she sees Aisling.
"What are you doing here? I would never have thought you would be ina place like this." The cook Studders.
"She is the mistress of the keep. She is not to be abused or tormented in any way. That is why you are here and not at your normal post. Why do you know her?" Lucian looks at the cook amused. He already knows who she is.
"She is my granddaughter, she was raised to be a good girl at least I thought." The cook replies.
Lucian begins to laugh and winks at Aisling.
"Grandmother I was not expecting to see you here. I thought by the way the Aunts spoke at your funeral that you had asked for forgiveness." Aisling looks at her grandmother with sadness.
"oh please I didn't believe that what I did was so wrong. I mean what else was I to do with a bastard son. " Elsie grumbles as she starts sliming things around in anger.
"You really believe you did nothing wrong. Treating your own child as if he was invisible while doting on the others. Allowing you husband to beat and belittle him at every turn . Acting as if it was his fault that you could not keep your legs together and got pregnant. My father did not ask you for anything but your love. He would give you whatever you wanted just to get a kind word from you. How is hating your son right. You chose to screw around and got pregnant. You were at fault for not staying pure till your wedding day . You are the one who sinned not my father. He is not being punished right now because despite the hatred he was raised in he still became a good man in the end. That is more than I can say for you. So don't act as if you are here for no reason. I can give you hundreds of them. " Aisling throws the dish towel down and starts making pancakes. Letting everyone in the kitchen know that the conversation is over and to get to work. Lucian is standing outside of the kitchen listening to everything. He has a big grin on his face. When he arrives there is a letter on his desk. He knows it is from the father. Opening it he reads

I know you have taken Aisling and are holding her against her will. I will only allow this for a short time because I know that her grandmother and grandfather are there. She needs to confront them over their mistreatment of her family. You are not to lay a hand on her or allow anyone else to harm her. If you do I will punish you in a way that it will take centuries for you to recover.
Father.
Lucian throws the letter down and his eyes glow red with anger. How dare he order him as if he is still a child. Standing Lucian begins to pace trying to calm down . He hears a small knock on the door.
"Master the lady says that the morning meal is being served in the dinning hall." The maid turns to leave when he stops her.
"That can wait a moment come here." Lucian tells her angrily. the girl goes over to stand in front of him. Lucian grabs her and angrily grinds his mouth against hers. His hands at her throat as he squeezes the breath from her. He stops when he hears her whimper in pain.
"Go to the field for a few days don't let me see you." Lucian looks at the girl the bruising on her neck is already showing. Taking a deep breath he walks out going to the dinning hall to see Aisling.
Aisling is helping the maid set the table with the food she made when Lucian walks in.
"So what have you made for me this morning?" Lucian smiles at Aisling as she makes his plate.
"Nothing fancy just some white and black pudding with pancakes, eggs and biscuits." If it is not to your liking let me know. That way I will not make it again." Aisling replies as she sits down quickly saying grace before eating. Lucian takes a bite and as expected it's delicious.
"what are your plans for the rest of the day?" Lucian asks Aisling.
"I have bread rising and a duck in the brine for dinner tonight. I thought I would smoke a brisket for tomorrow and for the noon meal I saw some roasted chicken. I thought I could make some ginger chicken stew for the noon meal. I want to explore my surroundings some more when not in the kitchen if that is ok with you?" Aisling replies to his inquiry.
"That sounds like a full day but you know you do not need to work at all. Even though I am punishing your grandmother with her demoted status I do have other cooks here." Lucian tells her.
"I love to cook and it's second nature for me to take care of others. I would be bored if I had nothing to do." Aisling tells him as she takes a bite of her food. They eat the rest of the meal in silence.when Lucian is done he storms out and heads to the fields. He needs to vent some frustration and anger. He remembered that the father's letter said that Aisling's grandfather was here. Smiling he goes to find him.
