Instantly, everyone’s eyes turned to Xia Yangyang.
She had no idea what Guan Xuer was up to. But she knew that she had an ulterior motive.
Xia Yangyang didn’t reply and so Guan Xuer pressed on. “Yangyang and President Gu… know each other.”
Guan Xuer deliberately sounded ambiguous, and it led to everyone staring at Xia Yangyang with confused and puzzled expressions.
Xu Li asked, “Yangyang, you know Gu Qichen?”
Everyone knew about Xia Yangyang’s family and background, and that her father was a big shot in the entertainment industry.
Hence, it wasn’t unlikely that she would get to know such a figure like Gu Qichen.
Xia Yangyang glanced at Guan Xuer before replying, “I did my internship at Flourishing Origin Corporation. So I do know him, but Gu Qichen is a busy man. I don’t think he will accept our interview.”
Everyone had guessed that much but Guan Xuer continued to trudge on.
Guan Xuer said, “We should still give it a try. Who knows what will be the outcome? Furthermore, we do have the means to do that, so why shouldn’t we try? I can be in charge of the first interview. With Yangyang’s help, I’m confident that we will succeed.”
Xu Li contemplated for a while before she replied, “All right then. The first interview is of both yours. Try your best. I’m graduating soon. If both of you manage to snag Gu Qichen’s exclusive interview, the next president will be either of you.”
After the meeting, Xia Yangyang strode out of the room with Guan Xuer hot on her heels.
“Yangyang, wait for me.”
Xia Yangyang halted her footsteps and twisted around. Coldly, she asked, “Yes?”
Guan Xuer put on a humble and pitiful expression and said, “Yangyang, regarding Haotian, I’ve let you down. I don’t want to lose a good friend. Can you forgive me? Just this time please. Can we be friends again?”
She squeezed Xia Yangyang’s arm and shook it meekly.
Xia Yangyang knew that she was a moron in the past for believing that Guan Xuer was a pure and innocent girl. She had always agreed or gave in to her requests.
Just like how Guan Xuer had begged her to give up on the position of the vice president to her, when they were both in the running.
However, this matter was different.
Xia Yangyang took a step back and pushed Guan Xuer’s hand away. “I can forgive you. Abort the baby and break up with Lu Haotian. Then we can restore our friendship. Can you do that?”
Guan Xuer hadn’t expected the foolish and pliable Xia Yangyang to demand something like that.
She turned nasty and hostile at once. “Xia Yangyang, why are you so cruel? You want to kill Haotian and my baby?”
Xia Yangyang replied, “Since you can’t do it, don’t ever mention the past again. Guan Xuer, let’s take it that we have never known each other. I only have one question right now. Why did you insist on interviewing Gu Qichen? What are you up to?”
Guan Xuer had revealed her true colors and she said sarcastically, “I merely have the best interests of our club in mind. Besides, isn’t Gu Qichen your boyfriend? There isn’t any reason for him to turn you down!”
Xia Yangyang’s eyes blazed at Guan Xuer.
Guan Xuer chuckled aloud. “Oh, he isn’t your boyfriend? Were the two of you putting up an act in the meeting room that time?”
Guan Xuer had long suspected something was amiss.
It was too much of a coincidence last time. She had also noticed that Xia Yangyang had looked too uncomfortable. Perhaps, President Gu had a sudden whim to put on a show to save the damsel in distress.
More importantly, she had asked her friend, Lin Yuanyuan, who was also an intern.
Lin Yuanyuan said that Xia Yangyang was the most disliked intern amongst everyone and she had a hard time during the internship.
If Gu Qichen was truly Xia Yangyang’s boyfriend, it was impossible that no one knew.
So Guan Xuer was certain that it was a coincidence that Gu Qichen had appeared that day!
