Chapter 28:Ch 28: My house?

"Damn." He said as he set down the note and grabbed his overnight bag with his worry increasing. He could have sworn it was the longest forty-minute flight ever.

When the plane landed he was relieved that the taxi was already there to pick him up. Grabbing his bag he rushed out of the plane and told the driver Abigail's address. Now that he was on the ground he tried phoning the house again.

Still no answer. Glancing at his watch he thought of someone else who might know where she went. It was only ten pm, maybe Mrs. Walker was still awake. Luckily she was. After speaking to her he felt some relief for the first time in two hours.

The Taxicab driver certainly wasn't going to argue especially after the fifty the man slipped him. He wasn't used to such generosity in this small town and by the look of the man's clothes, he could afford it. He retrieved the spare key from under pot with the flowers long since dead from lack of attention and opened the door.

It certainly looked as though she was busy. Boxes were everywhere. Placing his hands on his hips, he stared at the interior and sighed, this must have been very hard for her and maybe Molly took her out somewhere to make her feel better.

But where? Remembering that she kept certain numbers on the fridge he wandered into the kitchen and thought he struck gold when Molly's cell phone was listed.

"I wonder who that could be?" Molly started digging in her purse at the familiar ring tone from her phone. "What?" the music in the club was deafening and Abigail could barely hear anything, and what she could hear certainly didn't make any sense.

It didn't help that she'd been accepting all of the drinks Molly kept buying her, then when four men joined them Molly told her that she'd quit paying an hour ago. Normally that would bother Abigail, but after the fourth drink, her concern evaporated.

She was enjoying the company. "Abigail!" Molly said, "Is there anyone staying at your house?" "My house? No." Molly held her phone so Abigail could see the display and her brows went up, "I don't know who that is." "Well, let's find out."

She shrugged and answered it while plugging her other ear with her finger to hear the caller. Abigail watched with interest as Molly's expression suddenly hazed over then a wide smile spread across her face.

"Who is it?" She put her finger to her lips to silence her. "Yes, of course, Owen, I'll bring her home right now." She winked. "Owen?" "No, I've only had one drink. I can drive." She said.
