Her eyes went to Abigail's far from sober expression. Oh-oh, she thought to eye up Abigail's condition.
"Let me talk to him." "I don't think that's wise." She covered the mouthpiece, "He doesn't sound happy." "I'll make him happy!" she shouted.
"Oh Lord, he's going to kill me." Molly said looking at the inebriated condition her friend was in, then uncovered the mouthpiece, "We'll be home in five minutes. She flipped it closed. "Come on guys I need help getting her in the car."
She stood as did the other four men. "And don't cop a feel either, I'll be watching." She warned causing a few of them to laugh.
Owen was pacing on the front porch when Molly's convertible pulled up. He practically jogged down the stairs to see a partially conscious Abigail in the passenger seat.
"Lord Molly, she's snowed!" "Only a little." She said slightly embarrassed as she got out of the car, "She needed to cut loose for a night."
He opened the door. "Owen," Abigail's eyes opened at the sound of his voice and she grinned wide. "Hi, darling." She said in a slurred voice. "Ah hell."
He placed his hands on his hips and stared down at her. She was drunk. Even if she didn't talk, the glassy look in her eyes was a dead giveaway.
"I didn't mean to get her loaded, but she was upset." Molly came around to stand beside him, "She never mentioned your engagement either.
I'm really surprised I mean she's—" she stopped before she told him that Abigail's been in love with him forever. "She's what?" He asked finally taking his eyes off of his inebriated fiancé and looked at her.
"It's nothing." She changed the subject, "Do you need help?' "I can manage, just get the door." He bent down and scooped her up in his arms like she weighed nothing. Molly sighed dreamily at the man
it's broad back as he carried Abigail toward the house. How more perfect could a man be? She quickly rushed ahead of him and opened the door. "Bedroom."
He said as he entered the house, and Molly got his meaning and hurried down the hall to open that door also. He gently laid her down on the bed and realized that she was sound asleep again.
Then he tenderly removed her shoes setting them on the floor. Molly watched as she continued to loosen the belt on her dress and tuck her under the covers.
Jealousy and envy raged through her. She always had a huge crush on Owen, but she wasn't pretty enough to get noticed by him. Although Abigail was dirt poor, she was unfairly beautiful and surprisingly sweet.
It was no wonder why the man who had everything would fall for her and by the looks of it, he fell hard. Just to watch that tall gorgeous billionaire dote on her friend was enough to make her completely envious for the rest of her living days.
