Chapter 640 - promoted

Once Xia Rou heard her say that, she was even happier. She wouldn't be lonely anymore. 

And since her husband was going to be Lin Ye, she wouldn't have to worry about ending up in a broken marriage again. 

"I'm glad you thought things through." 

Yun Xuan revealed a slight smile. Thinking about Lin Ye, she had nothing to complain about. After all, all she wanted from a husband was a complete family for her baby. This was the only criteria she had since he was born. 

And not only did Lin Ye care about Yun Feng, he loved her too. It was even better. 

They had not been spending time together for too long but she had taken this time to study him, just in case his care for her son was a facade. She was only satisfied when she realized that he wasn't faking affection and his love was natural. 

She had even told him that she couldn't conceive again and he didn't mind. Most men wouldn't want to have step children as their successors but he was ready for that. In fact, it was as though he looked foward to it. 

She couldn't help wondering, though, if he would propose to her soon. 

Xia Rou looked at Yun Xuan who was unknowingly smiling while lost in thought and got infected by the smile too. 

When Yun Feng got better, Yun Xuan didn't leave him behind that much anymore. 

Xia Rou got back to her work and would spend the day at her office, only having time to play with the boy in the evenings. 

He didn't distract her work, and it even helped to improve his relationship with his future father.

On a certain afternoon, in Lin Ye's villa. 

"Did you get any news from that side?" 

"No news yet, master. They don't seem to care anymore." 

Lin Ye sunk into thought. Didn't seem to care? That could be the case, or they could only think that he was no longer a threat. They would definitely attack if they felt threatened by him. "Do not let your guard down. Keep a close eye on them." 

"Got it, master."

Later that afternoon, Yun Xuan came over. She had promised to have barbecue with him. 

"That took you long. I missed you." Lin Ye said as soon as she hugged him. 

She let go of Yun Feng who was trying to get into Lin Ye's embrace. "I ran into Lin Lihua and chatted for a bit. Speaking of which, I have good news!" She exclaimed in excitement. 

"You won a jackpot?" 

"More like a huge jackpot! I'm going to get promoted. I will be the new head stylist of HL Entertainment. " 

"That's good news. Congratulations." He held the little boy and touched her face with the other, then placed a peck on her cheek. 

Yun Xuan was even happier from the special form of congratulations. But she looked down in the next second. "But why... why do I think I didn't deserve it? It's as though Lin Lihua is deliberately making things easier for me because of our friendship." Although she wanted to be promoted, it didn't feel that nice if it was not a result of her hard work.

Lin Ye's hand was still on her face, his thumb ċȧrėssing her cheek fondly. "I think you deserve it." 

"You do?" 

"Yes. Lin Lihua might do things that pass off as being biased towards you, but you have to earn it. Especially since we are talking about the position of head stylist here. It's a very important position and she wouldn't dare give it to people who might disappoint the company." 

Because of this position, she would not be able to work online anymore and would need to actually make appearances. 

However, it wasn't troublesome. There were enough nannies to take care of him in the Lin residence and if she didn't like that option, there were nannies in Lin Ye's villa as well. 

Basically, she and her son were being pampered on both sides. 

"Uh... this might mean working with you less often." She sounded troubled as she liked their current coordination of making design drafts together. 

"It's alright. Your work is more important. You can look through our drafts when you are free."

Yun Xuan didn't refute this either. He would spend time with him when she was free. 

Actually, he was getting better at doing everything on his own. Unfortunately, the last two tests had come out identical to the first; there wasn't any improvement in his vision or the strength of his leg muscles. He might remain blind and handicapped forever. 

She was starting to accept this fact...

"Let's go outside now. It's the best time to start barbecue." 

"Sure." 

Yun Xuan took the both of them to the backyard. The servants had already helped her set up everything. All she needed was to start the grill. 

"Both of you stay here. I'll prepare everything- you are in charge of having fun." 

She was excited, and she hopped over to start. 

Lin Ye remained calm, anticipating the delicacies. 

A maid came over. "Master, I'll help you take take of Little master."

"It's okay. I'll play with him." Lin Ye dismissed, wondering why no one thought he was capable of taking care of a child. 

"Um... he needs to get changed." The little maid said nervously. 

Since this was the case, Lin Ye handed the boy over. 

The maid took him and walked off. It's as only when the maid didn't seem to be walking into the house that Lin Ye felt something was wrong. 

The maid tossed Yun Feng right into the swimming pool before running off! 

"Yun Feng!" Yun Xuan tossed the grill brush in her hands and bolted over. 

Something else gave her an even bigger shock. 

Lin Ye who was supposed to be on the wheelchair was no longer there. All she saw was a huge wave of water splashing into the air as his silhouette disappeared into the pool. 

She froze in her tracks. Did Lin Ye just...!
