Episode 189- Attacked by big guys with tattoos
The second Ron heard Eugene's answer, his fists clenched unconsciously. Her words shot straight to his heart as he sighed in distress, "How will we save her? Most importantly, how can we find her?"
He knows he has no right to stop her even though he could tell that she was acting based on her emotions. Even though she was being reckless, he has no right to stop her. All he could do was try to speak logic with her and get her to understand how reckless she was being if she had no plan.
Eugene looked up at Ron in surprise. She had thought that he was going to persuade her to go back. She blinked twice and answered him honestly, "Noelle has gone after them."
Ron furrowed his eyebrows, "Noelle?"
Eugene nodded. When Euria stunned her to the ground and made her unable to move using gravity, she had signaled her hidden guard with her eyes to follow after Euria. It was something she did instinctually that she didn't realize back when she was stunned. Only after she walked back home from her secret place that she realized that Noelle had gone after them.
"It won't be long before a message arrives." She said. Euria mentioned that the teleportation circle could travel only a certain distance which means that they weren't far and Noelle's coordination should arrive soon.
Ron looked at Eugene in surprise. He didn't think she already made plans and thought she was just recklessly going after them. But now that he thought about it, Eugene wouldn't just recklessly go after them. She would've had a plan anyway.
Eugene exhaled softly once Ron's hardened face softened. There was a problem with how many letters Noelle could send using a messenger bird, but Noelle and Eugene already made plans on how to resolve that situation long ago. Just in case a situation like this happens, Noelle and Eugene made it known to each other that if they were going to leave a message, they will leave it at the transportation center.
The transportation center is where you get horses or carriages to travel. Not only is this a good place to pass on messages, but it was also convenient because they would need to head to the transportation center in every city for horses or carriages anyway.
Ron rubbed his chin in deep thoughts. Now that he knew where they could find Euria, it was time to think about how and what they could do to save Euria.
Ron thought back to what Eugene mentioned and muttered, "People that explode…" How will they be able to evade that in a short amount of time?
Eugene turned to Ron and replied instantaneously, "They turn red for a minute before exploding. You will also know when they will explode based on their head expanding abnormally." she explained.
"And this is the elder's ability?"
Eugene paused for a moment before replying, "That seems likely. Elder is the only one who can use Occul."
Taking about Occul, there was something she hadn't told Con yet and that was about Euria and her past lives. It was something she would hold off from telling anyone else other than her family simply because it was something she didn't want to personally address and neither was it something she wanted to talk about yet. She still felt uncomfortable about the whole situation that seemed to be going out of the rails that she only wanted to focus on getting Euria back.
Eugene stared at Ron for a good minute and asked "...What do you think of going after her now?" What she means is if they had a chance.
Ron sighed immediately to Eugene's disappointment, "It'll still be hard. I'd say the chances have gone from 5 percent to roughly 30 percent."
Eugene bit the inner part of her lips. She nodded after pondering upon the percentage Ron gave her. 30 percent was not a good number at all, but consider the resources that they had, it was better than nothing.
"The thirty percent is for retrieving Euria successfully and everyone leaving out alive," Ron mentioned suddenly.
Eugene pinched her index finger when she heard Ron's words. She was in deep thoughts when suddenly she remembered something, "Euria's hidden guard is with her… right?" There was uncertainty in her voice as she mentioned.
Ron stared at Eugene blankly for a few seconds before responding, "From the gist of what you told me so far, it is highly unlikely that her bodyguard is with her. It is more likely that she is out doing some tasks."
Eugene's eyes narrowed, "And what if the tasks she is doing are beneficial to us?"
"Then our chances of successfully retrieving Euria are higher." Ron said seriously before he remembered something, "Oh!" His palm searched for his body all over before pulling something out, "Here." He handed the items to Eugene.
"These are masks. Contact lenses and temporary hair dye. Eugeneia is too pretty and stands out a lot so these will help you." He pointed to Eugene's hair that was wrapped in a cloth and said, "It will be more comfortable than that."
"..." Eugene wanted to thank him but when he complimented her very suddenly, she decided to thank him with her eyes instead.
"Oh." She remembered something as well while putting the items Ron gave her away.
"Didn't you get attacked while escaping from the academy?" During simulation training when she was bullying Ron, he told her that he was injured and to go a little easy on him. Back then, he mentioned getting attacked as he was leaving the academy's premises.
Ron furrowed his eyebrows, "Why? Do you think they are related?" He asked.
Eugene hesitated and shook her head, "Not everything relates to one another. But if something is similar with what happened to you and what happened today, it's the oddness of what occurred." She said quietly before reaching into her jacket and taking out a small item.
"Here. This is a button commonly used by the culprits." She handed it to Ron.
"Commonly?" Ron's eyebrows scrunched.
Eugene nodded, "Yes. This is the only item that all the enemies use. The people who controlled the children had it sewed to their clothes as well." She paused before continuing, "What distinguishes the controlled children from other children are their green eyes and emotionless facial expression. This makes them easy to identify. But, it is also something easy to cover up, for example wearing contact lenses."
"And you are sure every enemy will have this button sewn to their clothes? Why do you think so?"
Eugene leaned back as her finger's tapped on the table, "Because the enemies looked proud. The man behind the Imperial Palace incident, Zene's Ario, Darius, and the person who ordered the attack after Euria left. Everyone looked confident and proud of who they were. And this button was what represents them as an organization."
"But to go after them because of these… green looking regular buttons. Don't you think that's too vague?"
Eugene pointed to the button and then upwards, "These shine in the sun. And it doesn't look very common when the sun shines on it. It is a strange button with hairy-like marks covering the button when light shines on it."
Ron did not react to Eugene's words at first when suddenly his eyebrows furrowed, "Hairy?"
Eugene nodded.
"...." Ron didn't say anything but he held the button up high as if trying to confirm something.
"What? What's wrong?" You won't be able to see anything in this dim lighting.
"..." Ron didn't reply to Eugene for the longest time. He was trying to articulate his thoughts properly and when he was done, he began, "When I left school, I was attacked by big guys with tattoos."
'Right. He did say something about tattoos.' Eugene thought quietly. He mentioned tattoo's but she didn't care to listen.
"The tattoo was especially very memorable because the animal printed on the guy's hand was very… ugly."
Eugene didn't understand where this was going but continued on listening anyway.
"The tattoo was of a hairy creature. It was turquoise and black. The closest creature that comes close to resembling this animal is a spider."
Eugene frowned, "Spider. Turquoise. Black." These three descriptions rang a bell in Eugene's mind but she couldn't figure out exactly what it was when suddenly an image flashed by her mind.
"The messenger bird?" She whispered very quietly as she thought back to 6 and a half years ago.
"Messenger bird?" Ron repeated after her.
Eugene nodded. She distinctively remembered searching for Lea's father, Gres, however, on the way, encountered a strange-looking messenger bird that had died. She remembered it because of how ugly the bird was. It was hairy, turquoise, and black.
Back then, Levis had picked up a letter that made him very angry. As to what the letter contained, she never found out.
"Green, turquoise." Essentially the same family. She glanced at the button Ron was holding on his hands and thought deeply. Maybe it wasn't a coincidence. Maybe, there was a connection.. Because it was now very obvious that the organization's color was green, turquoise.
