Chapter 263 - Moniqua And Eugene’s First Date -continued

Episode 256- Moniqua and Eugene's first date -continued

The only problem was that no matter what they looked for, they couldn't find the type of jewelry they wanted as the jewelry was a bit too feminine and too sparkly for men. Hence Eugene and Moniqua decided to go to a really expensive custom jewelry store.

"I would like for the ring to be silver, and have some kind of special jewelry inside," Eugene said as she tried to describe what she wanted.

"Is it possible to carve the Veria family name inside?" Eugene asked the jewelry who nodded his head.

"Then let's do that?" She turned to Moniqua and asked for her opinion. Moniqua nodded and smiled respectfully at the jeweler to indicate for him to do as such. At first, Moniqua was flabbergasted that Eugene wanted to get the boys jewelry but when she imagined Levis wearing a thick ring that wasn't their marriage ring, she couldn't help but get excited. A man with two rings sounded cool and gothic!

Moniqua and Eugene linked arms as they both walked out of the jewelry store in happiness. Just as they were about to cross the streets to head to Eugene's favorite in the whole entire world, Eugene's ears picked up something.

"Is that the Duchess and her daughter?" Because there was a hint of distaste in her voice, Eugene stopped walking and her head snapped in the direction immediately. The person who had spoken was 15 meters away from her and she jumped immediately as she was faced with Eugene's glare.

"!" The woman turned to the other woman and shielded her face away with a fan. They were noblewomen who appeared to be in their 40's. From head to toe, these two women wore expensive things which were why Eugene's immediate thought associated these two with nobility.

"Did she hear us?" The lady asked the woman beside her.

"That's not possible." The other said.

Moniqua obviously noticed that Eugene had stopped walking and turned in the direction she was looking at. She accidentally met eyes with the noblewoman. The two noblewomen had no choice but to walk towards Moniqua as Moniqua was the one with the highest status between them.

"I greet you, Duchess, Milady." The woman greeted, without the paper fan covering her face. Her pose was polite, unlike her distasteful voice earlier on.

"Yes, Hello, Marquise Heath and Marquise Adams." Moniqua greeted back without so much as an emotion on her face. Eugene of course noticed this sign of unfriendliness coming from Moniqua and followed after.

"Greetings, Maruises Heath, Marquise Adams," Eugene replied in her deepest and lowest voice, bringing shivers down their hearts. She continued, "To answer your question earlier on, Yes, it was us who were walking just now. And yes, I heard you as clear as day." Because Moniqua didn't seem to like them, there was no need to give these two women a face.

Marquise Heath and Marquise Adams stepped back immediately as they stared at Eugene in horror.

Before the Emperor took the throne, they used to be Duchess, however after the Emperor flipped over the noble system they were demoted to Marquise. This was the reason why their attitude was over the top and acted as if they stood on top of the food pyramid. This attitude only lasts until they see any Duchess of the Great Nobles. It is only after that their haughty attitude will disappear. Why? Because they did not have the right to look down on someone with a higher status than them.

Moniqua turned to Eugene in surprise before turning to Marquise Heath and Marquise Adams. Her eyes were narrowed as she stared at them as if they were 'lower' beings. Before Marquise Heath could explain herself, Moniqua cut in.

"Excuse us. We are busy." Moniqua and Eugene left without saying much of a goodbye. When Eugene and Moniqua were far enough, they began to chuckle at each other. This was due to the shocked and horror-stricken face the two noble ladies had before they left.

"What were they talking about earlier on?" Moniqua asked Eugene.

Eugene turned to Moniqua, "Nothing." Eugene shook her head. "They only asked if it was truly us."

"Oh." Moniqua mouthed an 'O'. She then smiled at Eugene who had laughed for the first time in a long while.

"Let's go buy your books." She said and dragged Eugene away before Eugene could question why Moniqua was laughing at her.

Eugene nodded and together they entered an old book store. This bookstore was opened 7 years ago. And though the book store was not luxurious, because of the popularity of this book store, the store increased its size and was now officially the biggest bookstore of Xenperia. Because Eugene had been a regular customer from the beginning and was also their number one customer, the person who spends the most money in this store, she was given an exclusive membership that was only available to her. Not even the 2nd biggest spender, Louis Veria had this membership.

The exclusive membership includes her own reading chamber and a servant at call 24/7 a day for only her. Not only that, she gets 40 percent discounts on all her books. It was a dream life for a book nerd, and something Eugene was proud of for snatching such a great title.

"GREAT CUSTOMER!" Someone shouted out from afar, making everyone turn towards Eugene and Moniqua.

"..." The attention was very unneeded but Eugene said nothing and only glanced towards the person who had realized what he had done. He walked to her quietly and bowed deeply.

"Greetings, Great customer. Are you here to view the new books?" He got up and asked her.

Eugene nodded. As soon as she nodded, the man brought her and Moniqua along to Eugene's exclusive 'Chamber.' It was Moniqua first time here in Eugene's chamber hence she was very shocked at the treatment Eugene got. The number one spender. The manager of the bookstore came in immediately after the bookkeeper left and he greeted Eugene.

After he greeted he turned to Moniqua and titled his head. His meaning, 'Who-is-this-woman?'

"This is my mother. The true beneficiary of the sales you make." What Eugene meant was for the man to treat Moniqua with his politest attitude because Moniqua was the real boss. The person who gave her a lot of money. Money enough to be able to earn herself the title of Great customer as well as the exclusive membership.

The manager's eyes widened at Moniqua and he immediately bowed his head, "Greetings Duchess, the true number one customer!"

Moniqua chuckled at his carefree attitude and greeted him back. After that, Moniqua's mouth began to drop in shock as she stared at Eugene with an unknown look. Eugene and she were offered many things and one of them included a massage. Naturally, Eugene rejected everything but the tea.

This wasn't what Moniqua was truly shocked about. What she was shocked about was a cart filled with books in glass cases being brought into Eugene's room. She felt as if she was in an auction hall, but an exclusive auction hall. The books that were given to Eugene were rare and one of a kind. Some were even rare and exclusive publications.

"Yes…"

"No."

"Yes.."

"No…"

Eugene repeated that until she got 20 books that she liked out of 40. Moniqua didn't get any books as she wasn't interested in them. The number of books was of course still a lot, but Moniqua allowed Eugene to do whatever she wanted. And as a result, the book store, as usual, made a good profit from their great customer that day.

Eugene and Moniqua's entire day consisted of walking around and shopping. And when the day was almost ending, Moniqua suggested going to the outskirts to watch the sunset together to complete their date. Of course, she could do that at the Veria mountain as well, however, this was a special place she wanted to show Eugene, hence she brought her there.

The atmosphere was still warm as they reached the plainland. As the smell of autumn hit them, they were blown by a gentle breeze. Together, they sat on the picnic cloth on top of the grass as they snacked on some food as well as watched the sun setting.

'No wonder she insisted…' Eugene thought as she stared straight ahead at the beautiful sight in front of her. There was an orb of radiant red, followed by the beautiful pink, purple, red sky, and blue at the same time.

It was an atmosphere to chill, a perfect end to their first mother-daughter date.

There was only silence between them when Moniqua was first to speak out,

"Now that I think about it, Eugeneia is actually older than me, right?" Moniqua said with her soothing voice. Eugene turned to Moniqua and thought for a while.

"If mother includes my current past life, yes, I am.. " Eugene said and turned away.
