Chapter 102: spirits of parents present
Jason allowed Chike to drive him. When they got there, he asked his best friend to wait outside the mansion.
The mansion was quiet as it was night. He could hear the voice of his mother upstairs in Kara's room giggling and laughing with EJ. He stopped and rubbed his face.
This conversation has to happen.
He wasn't going to chicken out of it because it was difficult.
He made his way to his mother's room and he let himself inside, he sat on the only sofa in her bedroom in the dark and he waited patiently for her to come up to him.
He was still clutching the bottle of Johnnie walker and still taking a sip from it from time to time.
Elixir kissed her granddaughter's hair. She couldn't believe she was staring at her, alive and in the mansion. She looked so much like her son when he was her age.
"Grandma, do you think Dad likes me?" EJ asked as she laid in the purple decorated room.
"Of course, darling. We all do…your father and I are grateful for you, Junior" Elixir pushed strands of rogue hair away from her face.
"Okay. Goodnight, Grandma!" EJ closed her eyes.
"Goodnight, Angel"
Elixir made sure she was comfortable in the bed. She switched off the light and walked away.
She wanted to check in on Tamara, who showed up at the mansion three hours after she got there with EJ but Elixir decided against it.
She didn't think that Tamara wanted to talk to her yet.
She made her way to her bedroom to take a well deserved cold bath and sleep until she was ready to see her son tomorrow but Elixir's plan went to hell when she opened the door and switched on the light and found her son sitting on her sofa.
"Jason! Boy, you almost gave me a heart attack!"
Elixir exhaled and rubbed her chest in a circular motion. She stopped when she saw the look on his face and the bottle in his hand.
"Jason" she whispered like she was trying to soothe him.
She watched him all broken and drunk.
"Jason" she called out to him again.
Jason blinked and slowly he slipped out of the sofa and down on his knees in front of her.
"I am so sorry, Mama"
Elixir rubbed her posture and straightened her back.
"I am really sorry, I blamed you for Tammy's disappearance. Sorry, Mama"
Elixir moved closer and touched his head. She also saw the tears on his face. She was moved, Jason hasn't cried in front of her since the day she told him about his biological mother.
"Jason..." She whispered.
Elixir was sorry too. She was sorry that Tamara's disappearance ripped them apart for years. She knew that Jason blamed her for making his girlfriend disappear and she was so hurt and angry that she didn't dissuade him of it either. She simply allowed her baby to find a reason to hate her more everyday until Malawi and Kara.
Those two things brought them back together but it didn't give her back those years that she missed with him.
Now, he was all grown up and a father of two beautiful daughters yet he was on his knees asking for her forgiveness.
Elixir wasn't made of stone. She was a mother and she was programmed to make his life better.
"Baby, we get a chance to start fresh. It's not too late to be in Junior's life. Apology accepted, mi Amor" Elixir sat on the bed.
Jason rested his head on her lap and she patted his hair like he was a kid.
"I am going to make him suffer, Mom" Jason whispered.
"I know but this time is not the time for anger and revenge, Child. You have a daughter and she thinks her father doesn't like her. You need to correct that notion very fast. Your father will be punished, I promise" Elixir kissed his head.
"Come on, go…she is in Kara's room" Elixir tapped his shoulder twice.
Jason stood up and he headed for the door.
"Hey, Jason!" Elixir called out to him.
Jason turned and looked at her.
"Yes, Mom"
"Congratulations! It's a girl" Elixir said and picked up the bottle of Johnnie Walker on the floor "And for Christ sake boy, don't drive…you are drunk!"
Jason chuckled as he saw her take a sip out of the bottle.
"I love you, Mom"
"Right back at you, sweetheart. Now, go away. Mama needs to sleep"
Elixir took a big sip. She wondered when she was going to tell her son that she was considering accepting Spencer's proposal. She was going to hold off from telling him as long as possible.
Having a new daddy wasn't exactly in Jason's mind right that moment.
Elixir took more sips of alcohol before heading to her closet.

Jason opened the door to the room his daughter was lying in. He switched on the light but she still slept softly.
He moved closer to her. He hoped like hell that he wasn't reeking of cheap brandy. His first impression on her shouldn't be that of a drunk. EJ has been through enough already.
Jason touched her hair softly and patted it just like his mother did for him. He saw EJ stir and then she opened her eyes. Jason thought she would be startled but she wasn't.
"Hey, sweetheart….I am your Dad and I absolutely can't wait any longer to meet you" Jason kissed her forehead.
"Hello, my name is…"
They chatted for a while about nothing in particular.
After about thirty minutes or so, Jason stood up from the bed he sat on.
"Are you ready to go home, Junior?" He asked and offered to pick her up.
"Yes, please"
Jason picked her up but when he opened the door, Tamara was standing there.
"Momma, I am going home with Dad" EJ sounded excited.
Jason realized too late that he was supposed to ask for permission from Tamara.
"Do you mind, Tammy?" He asked her.
"Of course not, have a good time Elixir!" Tammy told her daughter. She entered inside and she brought out a backpack that she gave to Jason.
"We will talk tomorrow and I promise not to run out" Jason spoke softly to his daughter's mother.
"Goodnight, Jassy!" Tamara said and turned around.
"Good night, Tammy"
Jason turned around with his child and he made his way outside the gate. He was surprised to see Chike still waiting for him.
He was asleep.
He knocked on the car window and Chike opened his eyes. He also stepped down from the car.
"Chike, I would like you to meet someone special to me….this is my daughter, Elixir Jason. Honey, this is Dad's best friend, Uncle Chike" Jason introduced and placed her on the ground.
"Woow!" Chike screamed in shock "Your name is both Elixir and…Jason, are you stubborn?"
"No…"
"Crazy?"
"No…"
"Yeah! Yeah! you are super rich?" Chike asked her.
"No…I am nine years old" EJ laughed heartily.
Chike touched his forehead and squatted to be on the same plane with her.
"Then you and I are going to get on fine with each other, Elixir Jason. Ask your sister, I am the fun uncle. I give the most amazing gifts in the world!" Chike touched her cheeks.
"I have a sister?" EJ turned around to ask Jason.
"Yes. Her name is Kara and you will get to meet her soon. Come on, enter the car…" Jason opened the door and she entered.
"Chike…thank you. You are a good friend and I should have told you about my adoption earlier" Jason tapped his friend's shoulder.
"Oh my God! You are about to say it" Chike appeared excited.
Jason was confused.
"I am about to say what exactly?"
"You are about to tell me that you love me" Chike said with a face filled with anticipation.
"No, I am not" Jason told him
"Why not?" Chike was serious.
"Because it's creepy" Jason answered.
"But somehow by tomorrow, you have to start telling that little person inside the car that you love her" Chike pointed to EJ.
"Yeah, because she is my kid"
"And I have been your best friend for over eight years. I almost killed someone for you in Malawi" Chike reminded him.
"Yeah…me! You almost strangled me because you thought I was a traitor sent to kill myself. Just get in the car, man!" Jason told him and went around to enter into the passage seat.
"Fine! If you don't love me then I don't love you too. Tomorrow, I am calling a press conference and I will tell your secret about the 'you know what' to the world" Chike threatened him about revealing his adoption to the whole world.
"No, you won't" Jason closed his eyes. He wasn't bothered.
"Fine. Maybe I won't but…but…I will put ants in your socks, dude"
Jason chuckled but he kept his eyes closed.
"That's very mature, man. Still not telling you that I love you" Jason answered.
They drove in silence for about five minutes before Chike spoke to him again.
"How is Mckenna taking the 'i have another daughter with my ex lover's thing?"
Jason exhaled. He was suddenly exhausted. The last time he brought a child home, it tore them apart and he didn't even get someone pregnant then.
"I have no freaking idea, Chike"
