Chapter 105: Between a Rock and Tammy.
Jason shook his head. His mind was becoming dazed again. He had zoomed out for a while after Mckenna asked him the question. Was he in love with Tamara Jones? The answer was…
"Jason, I asked you a question?" Mckenna asked him.
Jason blinked to refocus his gaze and mind. What was the question again?
Tamara Jones and love and his feelings and this banging headache he was currently experiencing was confusing.
"How could you even ask me that?" Jason replied instead.
"Because, I have to know Jas. I really have to know what I am getting myself into. I love you but if you are…"
Mckenna was interrupted by Jason.
"I love you, Oma. Just you and no one else. I can't lose you, if you don't want to see EJ or be in her life then we can figure out a way to do it. If you don't want Tammy to be in my life…fine. I will get a mediator and I will set up a timetable that doesn't include dealing directly with Tamara. You are the woman of my dreams and I am not losing you over this" Jason touched her cheeks to make sure that she was understanding what he was saying.
"So, you don't love Tamara?" Mckenna asked him again.
"No..no, I don't. I will do anything you want me to do to prove it to you, sweetheart. But I should tell you that I brought EJ home with me. I know I should have asked you first but I didn't think…I just…acted. I am sorry"
Mckenna exhaled and rested her head on his shoulder. Jason scooted closer and his arm went around her waist.
"Are we going to survive this, Mckenna?" He asked her in a whisper.
"I hope so. Because the alternative is pain and heartache, Jason. If you say you don't love Tamara then I will take your word for it" Mckenna told him and Jason reacted.
He turned her around so fast that she almost felt the kitchen spin.
He kissed her. It wasn't soft. It was a kiss to proclaim how passionate he felt for her. He let his tongue tell her. His wandering hands on her body was evidence enough. It wasn't a ruse. He wanted her, he chose her and he was just as madly in love with her as he was the first time he proclaimed his feelings for her.
When he finally pulled away, they stared at each other for a while.
"Does that feel like I don't love you, Oma? Believe me when I say, I don't…I really don't feel this way about Tamara Jones. I do not love her. I love you" Jason's chest rose and fell softly.
Mckenna was drawned in and enchanted. She looked at him for a moment and she kissed him on the lips.
"Good" she said and touched his cheek. She took another sip from the wine bottle and she exhaled.
"Let's introduce me to another daughter of yours!" Mckenna said with sense of dread.
Jason rubbed his face.
"I am sorry, Oma. I am so sorry"
"It's fine. Come on, we should save EJ from Kara's interrogation"
**
"So, who are you?" Kara asked EJ again.
EJ watched the younger girl with the curiosity of a bored antelope.
"Elixir Jason Yagazie, I guess we are sisters" EJ replied and sat down.
Kara kept staring at her. She couldn't for the life of her see why her father would bring a stranger home and call her his daughter. She sat opposite EJ and her eyes were still glued to her.
EJ saw the way Kara rudely stared at her and she looked at her with the same investigative curiosity.
"You have blue eyes. Are you even my father's daughter?" EJ asked with a hint of irritation.
"My mother is white and she has blue eyes if you must know" Kara answered and folded her arm under her armpit.
"So, my father's wife…Mckenna, she is not your mother?" EJ asked her.
"You can't call her by her name!" Kara screamed at her
"Why not? It's her name" EJ didn't see the big deal.
"Well, my father won't let you and I won't let you. You can call her Umma or Mom" Kara told her.
"She is not my mother" EJ said without any malice.
"I said the same thing but somehow, I call her Mom now" Kara said and relaxed into the sofa she was sitting.
"So, why didn't Dad marry your mother?" EJ asked her.
"It's a long story. Mama had to go away…"
"Is your mother in prison?" EJ asked her.
"No! Mama is a good mom, she just has to stop my…. biological father from… killing me" Kara answered and exhaled.
"So…my father is not actually your father" EJ said with a smile like she just won a game Kara didn't even know they were playing.
"Dad is my Dad…I am just adopted. The law says I am his. You can ask him" Kara suggested and collected the Teddy bear of hers that EJ was holding.
"You should go away with your mother! I don't want you here and neither does my Umma!" Kara warned her.
EJ stood up and moved closer to Kara.
"I am not going anywhere. I am his real daughter. I have his blood and his DNA. He will choose me" EJ said to spite her.
Kara stood up to and glared at her.
"You might have his blood…wait! You can take his blood. I have the rest of him. I have his wealth, a bedroom…I will take over the Yagazie Empire from him…" Kara picked up her iPad ad googled Jason's name.
"Here! Look!" She showed it to EJ "Even Wikepidia doesn't know you exist. According to google, I am his only child. I am his real daughter too! I am…"
"Kara Hope Yagazie!!!"
Kara's eyes became wider as she heard McKenna's voice behind her.
"She started it!" She pointed at EJ "She said I am not Dad's daughter because I am adopted!" Kara complained.
"EJ!" Jason came forward with Mckenna behind him "You can't say that to your sister, ever!"
Jason chastised his oldest even when he didn't want to but he needed to make sure that there were some ground rules.
"She said I should go away with Momma. That she doesn't want me her and so does Mckenna!" EJ complained.
"EJ you can't…."
Jason was interrupted by Mckenna.
Mckenna knew he was about to give the speech about not calling her by name and ignoring the real problem here. The girls were still strangers to each other and needed time to get along.
Mckenna needed time to wrap her head around it too.
"Both of you, sit!" Mckenna ordered and pointed to the sofa behind them.
They tried to sit apart but she pointed at the same sofa.
"Sit…together!"
They obeyed her.
Mckenna sat down and so did, Jason.
"Kara, remember that earlier I told you that your father and I have something to tell you? Well, this is it"
Mckenna turned and looked at her husband like she was saying 'this was a cue to start'
Jason cleared his throat before he spoke.
"Kara, baby…I love you. You know that don't you, Bean?" Jason asked his daughter.
Kara nodded even though she didn't see the point of the whole question.
"I like to introduce you to my other daughter" Jason was certain to use the word 'Other'.
"This is EJ and she will be your sister from now onwards. Remember you said you wanted a sibling?" Jason asked her
"I meant a baby!" Kara voiced out, just so she wasn't misunderstood.
"Well, now you have a sister and she is three years old than you. It's better…I mean, she will look out for you" Mckenna answered with an awkward smile.
"I have a yellow belt in karate. I can take care of myself" Kara whispered.
"Really?" EJ seemed fascinated.
"Yes" Kara answered "Can you fight too?"
"With my words, yes! We must never use our fist. I am going to be a lawyer when I grow up" EJ informed her.
"You are so lame…wait!, Did you say a lawyer?" Kara asked her.
"Yes"
"So, you have no interest in running a business?" Kara asked with a raised eyebrow.
"No. I just want to be a lawyer" EJ asked.
"Good. Dad, I like my new sister. Welcome to our house, EJ. Do you want to see my room?" Kara was happy that she doesn't have to share the Empire with EJ.
EJ smiled and nodded. They were about to take off when Jason stopped them.
"EJ, I want you to meet someone special to me. She is the love of my life and I hope in future, a mother figure to you. This is Mckenna, my wife"
"Hello, how do you do?" Mckenna asked the little girl and stretched her hand out for a handshake.
EJ whispered to Kara "What did you say I should call her?"
"Umma, it's Korean for Mom" Kara whispered too.
"I am fine. It's nice to meet you too, Umma"
With that both of them raced to Kara's room.
Jason let out a breath.
"Jason, go ahead and change in the bedroom. I will lock the doors" Mckenna said with a smile.
Jason kissed her cheek and walked up.
Mckenna went back to the kitchen and she opened her bag and took out the pregnancy test she took earlier and stared at it again.
Great!
She was pregnant.
