Chapter 172 - A Peaceful Choice

"Wh-What?" Spellbound at her remark for a few seconds, Eva frowned her grimace and continued gawking at her in awe.

Clara seemed much perplexed with her gestures but still managed to stretch her arm towards her sounding all firm. "I said...call Mr. Zeus and talk to him. Now."

"Why I have to do that? Cl-Clara are you fine? Do you even know what you are asking me right now?" She was baffled at her response, scrunching her brows.

"I know... It's fucking painful for me to keep everything concealed from you...But, it's a tough time for him too. At least, I can do this much for him." Mumbling inside her mind, she took a deep breath out and further concluded, "I know what am I asking you. Since that night...I know you haven't been contacted him for once."

"Ex-Exactly. So...why would I have to call him up right now? It...It doesn't make any sense. You are appearing very weird..." Fidgeting her fingers while grabbing the phone from her clasp, she placed it over the couch sounding a bit displeased.

Clara frowned her brow ridge and sharply glanced at her with countless thoughts worrying her up to the core. Seeming a bit reluctant, she put her arm inside the purse and took out the shimmering golden bracelet placing it on the table.

Eva was quick to notice the ruby embroidered bracelet. Swirling her pupils, she chose to interrogate her,  "what's this?"

"Zeus asked me to give it to you." A cold, frigid response escaped her lips as she murmured.

"What!? Zeus? He has met you? Why?" Several queries were tossed by her at once as she looked extremely surprised with the revelation.

"Were you kidnapped by a hellhound?" Abruptly, she charged her looking a bit irked.

"Huh?"

"Why didn't you tell me anything regarding it? You are facing every pain and sorrow alone when I am right by your side? Is this what friends for?" Clara's shrieked in a loud voice as she appeared much vexed at her.

"I...I just didn't want to make you worry furthermore..." Fidgeting anxiously, she lowered her head down holding a guilt-stricken face. "But why are you bringing this up now?"

"The hellhound or any creepy beast might attack you again. I know you are deeply hurt by him but he really keeps you over his own life, Eva... I know, after running away from him that day...things have ended badly between you both.

At least...I want you to talk to him once and end things on a good note. I think...he deserves an apology from your side after what sacrifices he has made for you." She was trying hard to convince her mind deliberately.

Eva seemed getting perturbed at her response as she raised her chin up, glancing at her infuriatingly. "So you think I didn't make any worthy sacrifice to stay with him?"

"No Eva, I didn't mean that--"

"Clara you knew it, I always...wanted to live a normal life! I...I accepted his supernatural abilities despite knowing that he isn't a human! I didn't even budge and chose to accept the way of life destiny had prepared for us...

But...a wolf? How could he hide it away from me despite knowing...how much it would agonize me from inside? How could he break my trust when I..." Her husky voice trailed off as she took in a deep breath, trying to choke her tears inside.

Holding a morose look on her grimace, she softly took her seat next to her on the couch and grabbed her arm tenderly, staring deep into her eyes. "I know... I know you are fussing about him right now because you are deeply hurt from your core... But...even in this tough time...all he could worry about was about your safety from this cruel world--"

"Tough time?" All of a sudden, she interrupted her remark and ogled her eyes, looking a bit intense. "What do you mean by tough time?"

Hearing her bold query, Clara resembled a little palpitating, tapping her feet on the ground. "No...I...I mean...this...separation time..." She was fumbling.

Eva continued gawking at her wriggling footsteps and watching her getting all nervous, she clearly understood something was indeed off. Frowning her brows, she retaliated, "Clara do you think you can lie to me on my face? You always wriggle your feet whenever you are nervous... I am sure, you must be hiding something from me."

"No...Eva... It's not--"

"Please don't torment my emotions anymore, Clara! I beg off of you! Please spit it clearly." She groped her hand tight, answering in a deep voice.

Clara intensively stared profoundly in her eyes, gulping fretfully. Her mind was shrouded with countless thoughts which were stirring up her insides.

"She would go berserk if I tell her about this curse... But...I can't lie to her... Damn, what kind of freaking situation I am stuck in!" She was grumbling inside her mind.

"Will you please shred off your silence and answer me--"

"He...He is going...somewhere far tomorrow..." Suddenly, she murmured out aloud looking very perplexed before she could even wrap her words. Eva seemed much startled at her confession and slowly, left her grip over her arm.

"Going...far?"

"Y-Yes. He...He didn't want to hurt your emotions anymore that's why instead of putting this on you, he asked me to hand it over...Just for your sake, Eva." Her voice sounded much gloomy, as she lowered her eyes down mumbling softly.

"Wh-Where is he going? When would he return? For how long he is gonna be away?" She appeared very restless, asking her several questions at once in a hoarse, frigid tone.

"How can I tell you that possibly...he might never return again..." Wondering inside her mind, taking a deep huff of breath in, Clara quietly gripped the bracelet from the table and placed it right before her. "I don't know about it...all I want you to just...talk with him once... before...you regret it later... And, keep this with you forever..."

"Regret it later? Hey...Clara... You are definitely keeping something off from me, don't you? Why are you being so skeptical?" She shrieked out impatiently, swirling her eyes helplessly.

"I will leave it up to you, Eva. I can't impose my wish on you...I just conveyed what he asked me to do...That's all." Turning her face away from her, she stood up from the couch and tried to head straight towards the kitchen leaving the conversation incomplete. It seemed evident from her gestures that she was trying to skip her intense queries.

"Fuck!" Fuming out of extreme frustration, Eva jolted up from the couch and dashed outside stomping her feet in rage. As she rushed out in a fit, Clara slowly looked back towards the door she marched out, gasping heavily.

"I am sorry Eva... But... I can't tell you about the curse... You are already going berserk just by hearing that he will gonna be away for some time... I can't imagine your state if...you know about his approaching danger...

Lord, please...please help Zeus this time... Please...make him survive at least..." She mumbled, sighing out deeply lowering her grimace down.

.....

It was around 8 pm...Walking at a staggering pace, Eva was looking all grievous while strolling by the footpath. The atmosphere seemed pretty dense as if it was about to start raining in the blink of a second. Without even realizing it, she was standing at the side of the giant Via Del Corso Street.

The street was thickly packed up with countless traffic heavily running through. The traffic seemed a bit heavier since the weather was awful, all the netizens were rushing hurriedly back to their family. Watching the running cars with an empty gaze in her eyes, she was all swooned in silence.

"It all...It all started here...This was the place where I was standing pathetically to take away my own life... If...Zeus hadn't saved me that night, I would have been already run over...

Today...I am here again, all hollow and empty from inside... Now, Zeus will be gone from here tomorrow leaving me behind... Tomorrow is the lunar eclipse...If, I accept Czar's offer and get my memories erased, will this emptiness disappear from my heart?

No...I don't think...I will be happy ever again... I am just a hopeless woman full of bad luck... Then...what's the point of suffering all this misery? I am...fucking tired of getting hurt."

SHHHWAAAAA...

While she was lost in her perplexed thoughts, heavy rain started pouring down the sky with a grumbling sound amidst the clouds. She had rushed out of the house empty-handed without an umbrella. So there was no other option left for her other than drenching in the fall.

However, she saw several pedestrians running down the street carrying their umbrellas in a rush to head back home. Standing within the heavy rainfall, she was noticing them with a sad smirk on her face.

"My life has been so empty that...I don't even want to rush back home... All I am doing is causing trouble for Clara... He is still worried about my safety and yet...I have badly hurt Zeus...

Then... why am I living like this? Isn't death a peaceful choice at this moment?" Lowering her gaze down for a second, her rolling tears mixed up with the rain soaking her pale face within.

Clenching her fist, she marched a step ahead towards the street, whimpering silently.
