The void of emptiness in her heart had been swallowing her entirely from inside. As she took a staggering step ahead towards the street, the intensity of the rainfall further increased heavily. Completely soaked in the fall her eyes were gawking towards the cars running across the street.
All of a sudden, the traffic light at the zebra crossing turned red. All the cars lined up on the road next to each other as soon as she was about to take a step on the street. She halted, lifted her chin up, and stared on the opposite side of the street blinking her teary eyes.
An unexpected sight dropped her jaw in shock as her pupils were dilated! Surging her gaze wider, she saw on the exact opposite side, holding a black umbrella Zeus was standing tall, looking at her with a well-defined gaze of longingness in his eyes. As soon as the cars halted, he quietly started marching closer to her via the crosswalk with his giant bold footsteps.
Eva was standing numb like a rock, all stunned watching him staring her eyes wide open. She was gasping heavily and tried to blink her eyelashes a few times as if the sight was too unbelievable to believe. This was the same site where they found each other for the first time. At the same site again they discovered each other again carrying the profound feeling of yearning buried in their hearts.
As soon as he crossed over, the traffic signal turned green indicating the cars to start their rush again. Walking closer to her with a deep poignant gaze towards her, he continued staring at her keeping his silence for a few seconds.
"Is it real? Is he really standing before me? I...I am not dreaming right! This is indeed true! This is really Zeus standing before me!" Mumbling perplexedly in disbelief inside her mind, her sad gaze was fixed on him.
Frowning his face, he quietly placed the umbrella over her head, preventing her from getting drenched further. His face looked deeply saddened and taking a deep breath inside, he chose to break their silence first.
"Why...are you here again?" He whispered in a gloomy, dark voice.
Eva was so stunned to find him there that even his words seemed unreal to her! Holding her numb posture, she continued staring at him as usual.
"What were you trying to do, Eva?" His voice resonated quite deeply as an echo ringing in her ears.
She still couldn't answer a single word, stood numb and still. All of a sudden, her pale roseate lips were trembling on their own as if she was on the verge of breaking down bitterly.
Watching her all trembling in angst, he continued peering at her with his sad gaze. Softly, he held her arm to pass the umbrella over to her. She was surprised at his kind gestures, swirling her eyeballs wider in awe.
"Don't get drenched in rain. You will catch a cold at this rate." He whispered fondly looking at her tear-soaked gaze.
In the flash of a second, he hurriedly took off the long black coat that he was putting on and placed it around her shoulder covering her soaked white floral top which was being a see through dress from getting saturated. His love and concerns regarding her were still overpouring which she could notice evidently.
"Don't take off this coat and don't get further wetted--"
"Why are you doing this to me?" In a cold, husky voice rolling her eyeballs at him, she charged him.
It seemed that he hadn't expected such a question from her. He stood like a rock getting himself drenched in the fall.
But Eva looked extremely restless, fuming in angst. All of a sudden, she tossed away the umbrella from her arm and broke down into sobbing. Fiercely, gripping his shirt over his sturdy chest, she shrieked out aloud desperately, "why are you still kind to me? Shouldn't you be angry? Shouldn't you hate me? Shouldn't you curse at me? I...I hurt you so bad and yet you are still being good to me?"
Her loud shrilling voice caught the attention of a few pedestrians passing by them. Watching her getting all grief-stricken, Zeus tenderly gripped both of her arms trying to calm her down, "Eva...please calm down..."
"Why the heck you still care about me? Why did you bring the bracelet? Why my safety still matters to you more than your own damn life! Fuck! It's so painful! Why? Why can't you despise me? At least hate me so that I can get over you!! Please hate me! I don't deserve your kindness! Don't do this me...hic..hic..." Mourning out aloud, she leaned her head closer to his chest clenching her grip tighter over her shirt. Both of them were standing amidst the heavy rainfall, absorbed in their glum.
"How can I hate you...when it was my choice to love you till my eternity..." Mumbling in a sad voice, Zeus tenderly placed his arm over her back shoulder tapping a few times while she was grieving heavily on his chest. He didn't try to stop her from crying. Instead, he wanted her to get rid off her emotions which were piling up her insides.
"The moments I got to spend with you, were undoubtedly the best moments of my life, Eva. You blessed me with a beautiful world even though our moments were short-lived... Loving someone truly means no matter how much pain they cause to you...no matter how hard you try, you can't bring yourself to hate them... I know...you hurted me badly that day because deep inside, you were wrecking in pain too... I have indeed caused you a lot of trouble... I am sorry for that..." He whispered tenderly holding her in his arms while the tears mixed with rain water rolled down his cheeks.
"Don't be like this...Don't torment me with your kindness, Zeus!" Drifting herself a bit away from him, she slowly unleashed her grip over his shirt mumbling tearfully while staring at him.
A soft sad smile prevailed over his face as he fondly placed his palm over the right side of her cheek. "Don't come here again. Don't look back anymore... You don't have to wear the bracelet if you don't want...just keep it along with you as it will keep protecting you from evil approaches...
And lastly...I...I am sorry for loving you. But...thank you for reciprocating my love even if it was for a brief period...
I just want to see you happy...even if the happiness no longer includes me... I will still keep loving you, forever..." Slowly he pulled his hand apart from her face and tossing a warm smile, he started walking past her trying to hide his tears away from her.
Sobbing bitterly she quickly turned back and to her surprise, she noticed that he had already disappeared in thin air... She was standing alone amidst the heavy rain with the umbrella lying down at the side of the footpath.
"Are you just going to disappear on me like that? How can I be happy without you? How! Just tell me how can I stop loving you? How can you just leave me behind just like that? Hic...Why!? Why!!" Her knees gave up on the strength and clenching the coat placed over her shoulder, she knelt down on the ground crying aloud...
........
Amidst the heavy showers, Ivory was sitting on a wooden bench at a public park with her heart shrouded in anxiety. She was immensely worried about Zeus and unable to cope up with her inner turmoil, she decided to get drenched in the rain cooling her head down.
"Found you!"
All of a sudden, she flinched hard with the unexpected shrilling noise in front of her. She lifted her chin up and noticed Eric was standing before her holding an umbrella over her head and panting heavily as if he was running out of breath.
"You! Aren't you my purse thief! Why are you here!?" Growling at him angrily, she stood up from the bench and tossed away the umbrella he was putting over her.
"Errr...umm...I am not a thief... And... I was looking for you since the evening! I almost went to every places seeking for you and finally found you here sitting in this heavy rain. But...you might catch a cold at this rate..." Anxiously, he mumbled, huffing intensely.
"Why do you bother about me? Gosh! Such an annoying punk!" Snapping at him furiously, she tried to walk past by him to avoid his presence.
"Wait!" Suddenly, he grabbed her arm from behind intending to stop her from leaving. "At least let me know your name---"
THUDD!
"EEEEEEKK!"
Before he could complete his words, Ivory fiercely twisted his arm and thrashed him on the ground with a vicious kick on his abdomen. The attack was so sudden in the flash of a second that Eric started whimpering in pain on the ground, clenching his stomach.
"If you dare to touch me again...I am gonna break your arm next time! Remember it!" Threatening in a deep dark voice in that intense rainy night, she turned around and headed straight out of the park tapping her high heels.
"Augghhh, wa-wait...ughhh! My stomach!" He was groaning on the muddy ground watching her slowly disappearing from his sight.
Tossing a heavy sigh of defeat he wondered on his own, "darn it! Why the heck she is so violent? Maybe...she really have a problem with touching... Ugh, I still couldn't know her name...
But...
Why am I finding her counterattack so sexy? Damn! I must be really blinded by love!"
