Chapter 53

Judging from Tang Xinru’s personality, it was very likely that she might just invite him to join them.

Although she couldn’t pretend to be nonchalant about it, avoiding problems was never Gu Xi’s style of doing things.

She pursed her lips and looked at Pin Guan’s proposal. She could not help but say that it was a very attractive proposal.

Although Pin Guan was a capable company and the Gu Group needed a good business partner like Pin Guan, Gu Xi was a little afraid of Mo Shaoting.

Moreover, Tang Xinru would be there too and as such, Gu Xi could not make a decision yet.

But then again, it was just a discussion and it was only right that she show her presence.

Besides, Yunzhi would agree with her too.

After a busy day at work, Gu Xi glanced at the clock, only to realize that it was already five p.m.

Ke Er walked in and sweetly said, “Manager Gu, I came to remind you that you have a meeting arranged with Mr. Mo at eight p.m.”

Gu Xi smiled and casually placed her documents in her working bag. In an indifferent tone, she said, “Let’s eat dinner together.”

Ke Er was confused. Weren’t they eating dinner with Mr. Mo later?

Upon seeing the confused look on Ke Er’s face, Gu Xi lowered her head. “I don’t think I’ll have a good appetite later, so let’s eat now.”

Ke Er froze and Tang Xinru immediately came to her mind.

The employees of the Gu Group despised Tang Xinru to the core. After all, Manager Gu was the one who nurtured her to the person she was today and yet, she decided to work for their rival company. She even stole Manager Gu’s fiance!

Luckily, Manager Gu found another outstanding man, President Pei, in no time. Talking about Pei Qian, Ke Er was pretty curious about them, but she did not dare to ask Gu Xi.

Manager Gu was quite a serious person at work.

Gu Xi and Ke Er drove to a restaurant. Although the restaurant was just a humble one, the food was absolutely great.

It was still early evening when they finished their dinner. Since there was still an hour to eight, Ke Er suggested that they take a walk to aid in their digestion. This was her first time hanging out with Gu Xi, so she couldn’t help but be a little more cautious around her.

Gu Xi looked at her and chuckled. “Ke Er, you don’t have to be so awkward.”

Ke Er felt a little embarrassed, but she quickly regained her composure.

She realized that Manager Gu was very different during off-work hours as compared to working hours. She seemed gentler and was totally unlike her superior self in the office.

She seemed more like a girl, or rather a young girl now. Under the beautiful lighting, Gu Xi’s face looked absolutely stunning and attractive…

After Ke Er had stolen a few glances at her, she then decided to just boldly stare at her.

They talked about the main points of discussions for their meeting later while walking on the streets.

While they talked, Gu Xi’s eyes could not help but land at a certain place…

Ke Er thought that Gu Xi looked a little strange and followed her gaze, only to see a wedding boutique.

Upon recognizing the boutique, Ke Er pursed her lips and was so nervous that she did not make a sound.

Gu Xi looked at the wedding boutique. It was at this very place that she ordered her wedding dress… and it was that very dress that Pei Qian violently destroyed.

Gu Xi could not help but feel a little stunned as she walked past the shop again.

Just then, a lady walked down the stairs in a beautiful white wedding dress.

She saw a familiar face… as well as a pair of eyes that looked straight into Gu Xi’s eyes. Her eyes sparkled with a glint of victory.

She stood inside the boutique while Gu Xi stood outside.

Gu Xi was about to leave when she saw a slender figure walking out of the dressing room towards Tang Xinru.

It was Qin Mo. It seemed that they were here to try on their wedding attire.

Tang Xinru slowly walked to Qin Mo’s side while reaching out to adjust his tie. Qin Mo furrowed his eyebrows, but he did not push her away since the shop attendant was around.

Tang Xinru helped him to tidy up his attire. In a gentle voice, she said, “Qin Mo, Gu Xi is outside right now. Shall we say hi to her?”

Qin Mo widened his eyes and immediately turned around.

He looked at Gu Xi with an expression as dead as ash… An inexplicable bitterness could be seen in his pair of eyes.

Gu Xi smiled and Tang Xinru possessively hooked her arm around Qin Mo’s arm.

At that moment, Qin Mo and Tang Xinru were inside the shop while Gu Xi stood alone on the streets.

Looking seemingly unfazed, she softly said to Ke Er, “Let’s go.”

“Shame on them!” Ke Er could not stand the arrogant look on Tang Xinru’s face.

She initially wanted to say a few more words, but she was afraid that President Gu would get angry and hence, she kept her words to herself.

Ke Er threw a malicious glare at them and thought. ‘Looking at them really made me lose my appetite!’

‘Manager Gu is a wise person, indeed!’

She caught up to Gu Xi, still feeling rather indignant for her. Despite so, she decided that it would be best if she kept quiet.

Looking at the hazy night sky and the city lights, Gu Xi said with indifference, “We are all living in City H and we would probably still meet each other in the future so, there’s no need to blow things up.”

Ke Er remained silent. Well, if she was Gu Xi, there was no way she would remain so calm.

But then again, Ke Er still felt that something seemed strange. If Manager Gu really loved President Qin, how could she still look so calm even after witnessing that?

She did not even seem hurt by it!

Gu Xi continued walking slowly on the streets. However, after meeting them, she had long lost the mood to shop.

After casually shopping for a while, she entered the restaurant where she was supposed to meet Mr. Mo.

Mo Shaoting had not arrived yet, but he already booked the table in advance.

There was a black rose placed among a bunch of red roses in the vase sitting atop the long table. Its presence made the atmosphere seem very mysterious.

There were also two bottles of red wine placed on the table, and these wines had aged well.

Ke Er sat down and swallowed her saliva. “Manager Gu, are you sure we are here to discuss official matters and not… here for a date?”

Gu Xi pursed her lips. She also could not understand Mo Shaoting’s intention for such a set-up.

The set-up doesn’t seem like it was Tang Xinru’s doing. After all, Tang Xinru was more likely to place her attention on Qin Mo than decorating this table.

They sat for another ten minutes and Tang Xinru arrived.

She had changed into a white dress… Gu Xi just stared at her, seemingly unfazed.

However, the disdain in Ke Er’s heart only grew stronger. ‘How could she blatantly copy President Gu’s style?’

Tang Xinru sat down, and in a sweet voice, she said, “Gu Xi, Qin Mo and I saw you at the wedding boutique just now. Why didn’t you come in to say hi? You could have given me your opinion on the dress.”

Upon hearing that, Ke Er hit the ceiling. ‘How shameless can this woman be!?’

How could she act so righteous and high profile after stealing someone else’s fiance? Well, she’s a first!

However, Gu Xi remained unfazed and gave an indifferent smile. “Manager Tang, your taste in dresses have always been good.”

Gu Xi ended the conversation. Feeling rather unhappy that the conversation ended, Tang Xinru wanted to make use of Qin Mo to agitate her again.

However, a deep male voice cut her off. “Sorry to keep you waiting, Manager Gu.”

Gu Xi looked up and directly stared into a pair of sharp-looking eyes.

She slightly nodded. “President Mo.”

Mo Shaoting was dressed formally in a western suit. It seemed as though he came from a banquet.

His figure was as perfect as that of a model. Even his noble aura was so striking that Ke Er’s eyes almost got blinded by it.

He pulled the chair and sat down. Looking at the menu, he asked, “Why didn’t you order anything?”

Gu Xi chuckled and looked at Mo Shaoting with a mocking glint in her eyes. “I thought that President Mo would probably have a better appetite than me, or should I say, you are more familiar with the dishes here!”

A faint smile appeared on Mo Shaoting’s handsome face and he side-eyed Gu Xi. He stared at her for a long time.
