Gu Xi remained still as he looked at her. Considering how long he had stared at her, it was pretty impolite of him to do so. However, she did not avoid his gaze.

After a long while, Mo Shaoting finally gave a faint smile. “Gu Xi, we don’t have to be so polite to each other.”

Gu Xi took the menu from his hands and wore a mocking expression on her face. “In that case…”

She raised her hand to call the waiter over and ordered a few seafood dishes.

Mo Shaoting was allergic to seafood!

He shook his head while looking at Gu Xi. “Gu Xi, I have not eaten yet.”

Gu Xi raised her eyebrows. “Didn’t you say that we didn’t have to be so polite to each other?”

Mo Shaoting suddenly turned emotional. “Gu Xi, must you act like this? I thought we were good friends.”

Gu Xi’s expression turned colder. “President Mo, I believe we are here to discuss official matters. If President Mo wants to reminisce about our past, I guess I would have to make a move first.”

She took her working bag and was prepared to leave; however, he quickly pressed her down as a form of compromising her. “Alright, let’s not talk about that anymore! Let’s talk about our partnership!”

Gu Xi slowly placed her bag down, but the skin on her face still looked very drawn and tight.

Ke Er finally understood something. Did Manager Gu and President Mo had… something going on between them in the past?

But one thing was for sure—they were not very close to each other. It seemed that it was just President Mo’s wishful thinking.

Ke Er looked at Gu Xi with envy. What a good reincarnation they have! Just look at the men around her, each of them was more handsome than the other… each of them was richer than the other.

Tang Xinru, who was sitting beside them, did not speak much and only silently looked at the two of them. It was as though she was just a flower vase on display.

After confirming that Gu Xi would not leave, Mo Shaoting let go of her and started discussing their partnership.

The terms and conditions he offered were all very beneficial to the Gu Group.

After hearing his speech, Gu Xi gave a faint smile and waved the document in her hands. “Mr. Mo, the proposal is too good to be true! I believe you won’t just let me take advantage of you like that.”

A cold glint could be seen in Gu Xi’s eyes. “You are really good at making jokes.”

“Gu Xi, I really didn’t know that you would still hate me after so long!” He then lowered his voice. “Or… are you being concerned about me?”

Gu Xi heartlessly said, “It seems that your forte lies in blowing your own trumpet. You’ve trained your strength really well these few years!”

A look of helplessness could be seen on Mo Shaoting’s handsome face. He reached out to take four drinking glasses and then opened the bottle of wine. He then poured it into the glasses in such a swift and attractive motion that it rendered Ke Er stunned.

“Let’s make a toast to our partnership!” He passed a glass of wine to Gu Xi.

Gu Xi remained unfazed. “I don’t think I have agreed to the partnership yet.”

“Gu Xi, you are the most difficult person I have ever dealt with in all of my partnerships.” In a pleasant tone of voice, he said, “Gu Xi, are you still angry at me after all these years?”

“I’ve got better things to do!” Gu Xi’s slender fingers gently spun the cup in her hands.

Hearing her reply, Mo Shaoting gave a light chuckle. “If that’s the case, why do you always look at me as if I am your enemy?”

“You’re seeing things.” Gu Xi looked at him and curled her lips up before taking a sip of her wine.

When her beautiful throat gently moved, Mo Shaoting smiled and raised his glass. “I hope that you will make a wise decision which could help improve the relations between the Gu Family and the Mo Family.”

Gu Xi gently sipped on her wine while her eyes looked as normal as ever…

However, Tang Xinru and Mo Shaoting knew that something was different.

The wine was spiked, or rather someone had spiked Gu Xi’s drink.

Just then, the waiter served the dishes which were filled with seafood.

Mo Shaoting instinctively furrowed his eyebrows and stood up to step aside. “Please excuse me, I need to go to the washroom.”

Tang Xinru was a little confused, and Mo Shaoting explained, “I am allergic to seafood. You guys can eat first.”

Tang Xinru’s expression slightly changed…

Why didn’t she know that Mo Shaoting was allergic to seafood?

Why did he still allow Gu Xi to order these dishes?

She narrowed her eyes and a bad premonition grew in her heart…

Perhaps the Mo Shaoting from a few years ago wasn’t the Mo Shaoting she imagined him to be and he only took Gu Xi for a betting tool. Perhaps he really did like Gu Xi before, but it was just that his feelings weren’t that deep and thus, he failed to realize that he actually liked her.

Mo Shaoting slid his way out of the crowd in the hall and walked to a long corridor.

He took out his phone and dialed a number. In an indifferent tone, he said, “Gu Xi drank too much… You better come over now, or else, something that would make you unhappy might actually happen!”

With that said, he ended the call.

He should have returned to the restaurant immediately. With this call of his, Pin Guan’s name would definitely appear on Empire’s next partnership list. He should feel happy, but for some reason, he just couldn’t bring himself to be happy.

He even felt a little annoyed. He took a cigarette out from his pocket and took a drag of his cigarette before throwing it onto the ground. He crushed the butt beneath his heel until it turned into bits and pieces.

After drinking half a glass of wine, she suddenly felt her head spinning. Not to mention, her face heated up really quickly…

She felt that something did not seem right, so she grabbed the side of her chair. She called out in an unclear voice, “Ke Er…”

A female replied to her. “Your secretary received an emergency call from her family and is rushing home now.”

Gu Xi looked up, only to see Tang Xinru’s distorted face.

“Gu Xi… you couldn’t believe it, could you?” Tang Xinru looked at Gu Xi’s beautiful yet cold face and recalled Qin Mo’s words to her…

She softly laughed while her finger stroked Gu Xi’s face.

“Enjoy yourself tonight, Gu Xi!” She took her handbag and left.

After all, Mo Shaoting hated it when people disturbed him…

After she left, Mo Shaoting walked back to the table.

Upon seeing Gu Xi’s flushed red face, he knew that the drug was taking effect.

He walked to the window and took another drag of his cigarette. Gu Xi would probably hate him even more once tomorrow was over.

A black sports car speedily rushed to the restaurant and stopped at the entrance of the restaurant.

Pei Qian alighted from the car. He walked into the restaurant with a tense expression on his handsome face.
