Chapter 33：Her Bad Habit

"Gu Xi…" With her gaze fixed at the view ahead of her, Lin Yunzhi suddenly hit the brakes.

The traffic light was red!

Gu Xi was caught by surprise and knocked her head on her chair. It was a little painful.

Lin Yunzhi turned her head to face her and gave a faint smile. "I will."

Gu Xi felt a little speechless at Lin Yunzhi and sighed. "Glad you know it."

Lin Yunzhi spaced out until the traffic light turned green. She then continued driving.

Lin Yunzhi parked her car in the field outside the house. From where they were, she saw Housekeeper Lin already waiting for them at the doorstep.

The maids lined themselves up in two rows and greeted them in unison, "Welcome home, Missy and Miss Lin!"

Gu Xi and Lin Yunzhi absolutely hated such big scenes which led to Lin Yunzhi giving her mother a grudging look.

Housekeeper Lin was also very helpless, and she quietly said, "The Old Master likes it this way! What can I do?"

Gu Xi hugged Housekeeper Lin with a bright smile on her face. "Auntie Lin, we are going to stay over for a few days."

Just then, Old Master Gu's voice drifted into Gu Xi's ears. "Where are you planning to go?"

Gu Xi suddenly stood upright. "Nowhere! I just wanted to greet you."

Lin Yunzhi and Housekeeper Lin exchanged glances with one another, amused by the situation before them.

Gu Xi was not afraid of anybody except the Old Master… He was basically her nemesis.

Lin Yunzhi also tried to escape; however, the Old Master stopped her. "Join us for dinner."

Lin Yunzhi obediently came back and stood behind Gu Xi to form a row as if they were elementary school kids.

The Old Master stared at Gu Xi and Lin Yunzhi for a while before placing his hand in his pocket and left.

As he left, he asked Gu Dahai who was beside him, "Say Dahai, do I look like a tiger who might actually bite?"

Gu Dahai controlled himself from laughing. "Of course not "

"Then, why did those two brats look like they saw a ghost the moment they saw me?"

Housekeeper Lin walked over and gave them a little push. "Let's go upstairs."

Gu Xi's room was beside Lin Yunzhi's room, and this set up was Gu Xi's strange request from when she was younger. Since she wanted a female partner who was around her age to accompany her, Lu Yanzhi moved from Housekeeper Lin's dormitory room to her current room.

Actually, it had already been a long time since Lin Yunzhi stopped living there. But she would occasionally come over to stay for a few nights.

As for Gu Xi making Lin Yunzhi move next door, both Lin Yunzhi and her mother were aware of the reason behind it.

Old Master Gu, on the other hand, also closed an eye and just let Gu Xi be.

In the company, Lin Yunzhi was Gu Xi's subordinate and thus, she always greeted her as Manager Gu. However, they were really close to each other in real life… They were even closer than friends.

Lin Yunzhi and Gu Xi were resting in the little flower garden upstairs while Housekeeper Lin ordered the other maids to tidy up their rooms.

"Gu Xi, do you really think that it's a good idea to live here for a few days with me just to avoid Pei Qian?" Lin Yunzhi tugged on her hair.

Not that she didn't want to come back home, it was just that returning home meant she had to face the Old Master and her mother. Simply thinking about it caused an inexplicable feeling creeping up her heart… It would have been fine if she was kept in the dark, but she, unfortunately, found out about the truth…

Her mother did not mind staying as a housekeeper in the Gu Family for the rest of her life, and Lin Yunzhi respected her mother for that.

However, her status in the Gu Family was just too ambiguous, for she was neither a Missy nor a maid.

During dinner time, Gu Xi kept stealing glances at Lin Yunzhi.

It was the time of the day that Gu Xi was being childish again… Everyone could not help but sigh at the sight of it.

In contrast to Gu Xi, the other three wore a weird expression on their faces.

Housekeeper Lin gave a bittersweet smile.

She rarely ate with the owners of the household. It was only when Lin Yunzhi was home that she could dine with them.

The Old Master, on the other hand, had a stoic expression on his face.

Lin Yunzhi also had a face void of expression.

Despite the stifling atmosphere, Gu Xi loved to eat dinner under such situations.

Because it was only then that the Old Master wouldn't put his focus on her.

Things did not go well for Lin Yunzhi, however. The Old Master already hinted to her many times that it was time for her to find a boyfriend.

Lin Yunzhi's reply was also very tactful—she was busy with work!

Lin Yunzhi gritted her teeth in anger, which Gu Xi pretended not to hear.

Old Master Gu looked at both of them and coughed. "Gu Xi, you are not getting younger, too. Don't just stare at Yunzhi and do nothing! She's only older than you by two years!"

The Old Master contemplated. "Both of you shall go on blind dates when the time comes, then."

Gu Xi was stumped. Did he just say that he would send both of them to a blind date and let their date choose between the two of them?

Did he also mean that whoever their date liked shall be the chosen one?

Lin Yunzhi teasingly looked at Gu Xi.

Gu Xi lowered her head and continued eating, expressing her displeasure.

It was only until the Old Master left the dining room did Lin Yunzhi and Gu Xi looked at each other.

"I think I should just live with you from tomorrow onwards," said Gu Xi lazily.

Lin Yunzhi took a sip of her tea and smiled. "Living at home is pretty good, too. Since we are all busy people, it's not that bad of an idea to settle some of our private issues."

Gu Xi shook her head before standing up to proceed upstairs, leaving Lin Yunzhi and her mother behind.

When she passed by Old Master Gu's study room on her way to her room, Gu Dahai called her name. "Missy, the Old Master asks for your presence."

Gu Xi knew that she could not avoid him forever. After all, she came back home all of a sudden and it was not surprising that grandpa would be curious about the reason behind it, too.

Besides, Qin Mo and Tang Xinru created such a big scene. The Old Master definitely heard a thing or two about it.

She quietly walked in and saw the Old Master sitting on the sofa with a chessboard placed in front of him.

"Gu Xi. Play a game of chess with me, will you?" asked the Old Master without raising his head.

Gu Xi sat down and there was already a cup of tea placed on the side. It seemed that the Old Master had planned for it beforehand.

She took the white chess piece and started the game first as per usual.

The Old Master looked at the chessboard and put his chest piece down as well…

After a few rounds, the Old Master probed, "Gu Xi, is there something that is bothering you?"

Gu Xi pursed her lips and said in an indifferent tone of voice, "Not really."

The Old Master raised his head to stare at her. He softly asked, "Gu Xi, do you know what your biggest shortcoming is?"
