Chapter 373 - The Maturity of a Man

Was this the same Jing Yichen he knew?

Zheng Jing couldn’t help but get shocked.

He had always thought that a man like Jing Yichen was surely going to die alone, because his world was completely isolated and he allowed no one to enter it. He had a strong willpower and didn’t need anyone to keep him company.

But it seemed that when Jing Yichen was with Shangguan Ning, he was the same as every other man who loved his wife. He talked with her gently, and pampered her.

They seemed to be in such a good relationship that he felt jealous of them.

It seemed that Zheng Jing was going to be the one who would die alone!

Mu Qing understood how Zheng Jing was feeling. He had spent enough time with Jing Yichen and Shangguan Ning and was already used to the crazy personality difference which Jing Yichen displayed while treating others and Shangguan Ning.

He directed all the coldness towards others whilst keeping the warmest side of himself to Shangguan Ning.

He said with a smile, “Sure, Master Jing has changed. Someone is finally able to conquer him and he is extremely careful about her these days especially because she is pregnant. Master Jing was here to help her with the pregnancy examination. He didn’t even want me to check her up, because a pregnant woman has to show her belly. That is why I had to ask my cousin to do the job. Otherwise Master Jing would have killed me!”

Zheng Jing got slightly startled and said, “Sister-in-law is pregnant? So fast?”

No wonder Jing Yichen had seemed rather careful about Shangguan Ning. They were going to have a baby.

It seemed that Jing Yichen was living a peaceful and happy life. He was going to start a family soon!

Zheng Jing let out a sigh inside the heart. He was not sure when he would become a father himself and who the child’s mother would be.

He kept thinking about Zheng Lun, her gentle smile and her loving look.

Mu Qing didn’t notice that his friend was lost in his own thoughts. He kept whining. “…Honestly, I am a doctor and it is totally natural for me to check the patients. They are all the same in my eyes. But he makes me sound as if I enjoy looking at a woman’s body. Let me tell you that I have no interest in anyone else’s body apart from Anan’s. Look at you. You were fine with me touching your girlfriend’s ribs today, right?”

Mu Qing suddenly stopped and asked. “Oh yes, why did you have no reaction at all to me touching your girlfriend’s stomach?”

Jing Yichen didn’t like him touching Shangguan Ning and he himself hadn’t liked Zheng Jing’s fight with Zhao Anan which occured in close proximity. But Zheng Jing didn’t seem to care much about his girlfriend being touched.

Did that mean that he didn’t treat Zhu Ruotong as his own woman?

Zheng Jing got startled after hearing what Mu Qing said. “You just said that you are a doctor. How would you know if she is badly injured if you don’t feel her body?”

“Then… what if I touch Zheng Lun’s belly?”

Zheng Jing sprang up all of a sudden as he glared. “Don’t you dare.”

He was surprised at his own intense reaction.

Mu Qing shook his head as he looked at him with a smug expression. “Oh, Policeman Zheng. You failed my little test. How did you manage to graduate from military school? Are you a qualified policeman after all?”

Zheng Jing said in annoyance, “You are testing me too?”

“Oh, Policeman Zheng, I am so sorry to have annoyed you. Who else has tested you before?”

Mu Qing finished tending to his wounds and leaned against the chair, looking at Zheng Jing.

Zheng Jing got both amused and annoyed. “Who do you think you are? Sherlock Holmes? I am much more experienced than you in investigation, so don’t try to test me anymore. I know what I am doing.”

Mu Qing looked at him for a quiet moment and then said in a serious tone, “Bro, listen to me carefully. Stick to what you want and don’t mind what others may say. There are many things that can never be gained back after losing them once. Trust me, it is totally fine if brother and sister get married. There is no reason to give up on her even if she is your sister. Don’t hesitate if you only like her. Hold her tightly and never let her go.”

If he had been mature enough and persistent years back, he would not have been separated from Zhao Anan for ten years.

People tended to realise what was precious after they lost it. Mu Qing only understood his true feelings towards Zhao Anan after he lost her. His heart only existed for Zhao Anan and no one else.

He went away from Zhao Anan when she had the abortion. That was also the time when she started the deadly chemotherapy. But he was not by her side at the time.

Although Zhao Anan was the one who had made him leave, yet Mu Qing felt his heart ache so much, every time he thought of the past.

His Anan had gone through so much partly because of him. But he had not been by her side supporting her or giving her enough love.

When Zhao Anan got to know about Shangguan Ning’s pregnancy today, she couldn’t hide both her joy and jealousy.

She had been pregnant before, but what had he given to her? Panic, helplessness, unease, pain!

He was not like Jing Yichen who took care of her every minute and loved her every second. Mu Qing hated himself for having done that and if he got a chance, he would treat Zhao Anan hundred times better. He would spoil her and never let her go away again.

He had claimed that he knew about love more than Jing Yichen and that he was better at making girls happy. But as a matter of fact, Jing Yichen was way better than he was. He knew what he wanted and was never stingy at expressing his love. That was why he could experience such a great relationship with Shangguan Ning and live such a happy life.

Mu Qing hoped that Zheng Jing could understand what he had said and learn from Jing Yichen as well.

It was ok to use force, drugs, traps or anything else to hold onto the one whom you loved. Zheng Jing shouldn’t care about his dignity or what others might say about them at this moment.
