Zhu Ruotong had been hospitalized due to her injuries being serious.
But Zheng Jing only had a few bruises and didn’t need to stay at the hospital. So he met Zhu Ruotong before driving home alone.
He still kept thinking of the profound words which Mu Qing had said to him – never let go of what you want!
He knew that Mu Qing had talked out of experience.
Zheng Jing knew about Mu Qing and Zhao Anan, so he took in what Mu Qing said with utmost seriousness.
But taking in was one thing whilst facing the reality was another.
He didn’t know if he should take the risk of going against the morals and ignoring parents’ objection and sadness just to marry his own sister!
Was it all worth it?
To give up everything?
Mu Qing had said that he was hesitating because he hadn’t tasted the feeling of loss and was weighing the options because he had never lost anything.
Was that the case?
His parents were out for business when Zheng Jing arrived at home. Mrs. Zheng was the one taking care of Family Zheng’s properties. She didn’t stay with Zheng Lun all the time.
It was still early and the servants were not yet at work. Zheng Lun was alone.
She was like an abandoned kitty who was nestled in the corner of the living room. She still had traces of tears on the face. Her feet were bare and she just had a thin dress on her.
Zheng Jing’s heart palpitated.
He thought of the year when he had met Zheng Lun for the first time.
It was freezing on that day as the snow had not yet melted. There was almost no one on the street.
The skinny girl was nestled in the corner. She was barefoot, freezing to death.
She was filthy from head to toe. Her face was so full of dust that her original look was nowhere to be seen. Only her gaze was crystal clear.
She was like an angel fallen from heaven, sleepy and famished. But she didn’t want to bend down to beg the passers-by. She was apparently very scared when he stood next to her.
But what she said was a soft whisper. “Brother, I am so hungry…”
Despite the dirt on her face, it was clear that she was extremely beautiful.
She looked so much like his sister who had passed away!
She even sounded like his sister!
His sister had once said to him with her hands over her arms. “Brother, I am hungry!”
At that moment, his world collapsed. What he could see was the little girl nestled in the corner.
He rushed down to hold her and kept calling her “sister” and “Lun”, making her scream out of fright.
He thought that his sister was back. He thought that he had gained what he had lost.
But soon he realized that the girl inside his arms was different from his own sister.
She was scared, agonized and lonely. She had wounds all over her body and not enough food in her stomach.
She was not spoiled nor lively nor did she resemble a princess.
She probably was two years younger than his sister, so skinny that she was almost weightless.
At that time, he made up his mind to bring her home and have her stay by his side so that he could protect her and make her stay away from all injuries.
Zheng Jing stood in the living room thinking about the past. He was engulfed in pain.
Mu Qing was wrong. He had experienced a huge loss!
Little Seven was not Zheng Lun. She was not his sister who was long gone from his world.
What he was trying to do was to make her stay by his side. He was afraid of losing her. He was afraid that any mistakes made by him would have everyone blame Seven.
But Seven was already lost. She had fallen for him and there was nothing that he could do about it.
Zheng Jing completely lost the ability of distinguishing between the two figures from different times.
He dashed towards Zheng Lun in panic and took her into his arms. One of his arms was around her fragile waist whilst the other upon her foot.
He felt the coldness on his palm, just like decades ago when he had held her foot for the first time.
His Seven must have been frozen to death.
“Seven…”
Zheng Jing mumbled. His voice sounded hoarse. His heart ached and his love spun out of control.
Zheng Lun held herself back for a second but soon relaxed in her brother’s arms.
She liked it when brother held her in his arms. In fact he had never held her in such a way before.
The coldness disappeared within one second, so did the sadness. She called out to him, “You are back, Brother…”
But before she could finish the sentence, her lips were sealed.
Zheng Jing planted a fierce kiss upon her lips which were really close to his face.
He opened her mouth with his lips and sought her inexperienced tongue, savouring the wonders which he had never tasted before.
The moment seemed as long as a light year and as short as a second when they started to kiss. First, he was gentle, then fierce, and then violent. He had lost his self-control because Zheng Lun was kissing him back.
Seven, I have wanted to kiss you for too long for me to even know when I first started to like you!
I know pretty well who you are and I don’t have any brotherly feelings towards you. I love you. My heart beats only for you.
But I don’t want to lose you so I don’t dare to admit what I feel. I don’t want others to gossip about you. I don’t want you to go to hell with me. I want you to live a beautiful life rather than a life of darkness and shame.
I want to be your sunshine. I don’t want others to talk about you wanting to marry your own brother.
I can tolerate everything but I can’t tolerate it when anyone says anything bad about you.
I can give up everything, including my future and my happiness.
As long as you are happy, all is worth it!
Zheng Lun’s eyes widened. She received her brother’s kiss as if she were in a dream.
Her brother had just kissed her.
Did he like her too?
Was he afraid that she would disappear? Was that why he was holding her so tightly in his arms?
A tear trickled down the corner of her lips. Zheng Lun closed her eyes and let herself be at the mercy of her brother. She felt secure in his warm arms and kissed him back in a naive, clumsy way.
Her heart was beating so fast that it felt as if it would pop out of her chest.
As her brother’s handsome leaned close to hers and his nose clashed with the tip of her nose, she felt drunk on happiness, floating in the air.
