The breeze blew gently, brushing the white curtain away. The curtain danced like a happy elf. As the sunlight shone through the window, piercing and warm, it woke up a soul that had been in slumber for a very long time.
He was feeling hazy and had scattered memories. For a second, he almost forgot who he really was.
He felt that he had been sleeping for a long time, but could not wake up because of a nightmare.
In the nightmare, there was a storm, and lightning striking down with thunder. There was also a beautiful baby face and a bullet that hit straight into his head between the eyebrows.
The scattered pieces of memories suddenly burst into his head, and the piercing pain made him nearly faint again.
A familiar scent of candy was around him and a gentle sound of sighing echoed in his ears.
Who was it?
Why could he not remember anything?
He felt that the sweet scent of candy was drifting away from him, and he wanted to hold onto it as he shouted in his heart. “Don’t go, please don’t go! Stay with me.”
But that familiar scent did not seem to have heard his hysterical shouting. She left anyway.
Soon he was thrown into the endless solitude and coldness. He did not feel warm even with sunshine upon him.
He quieted himself down.
Slowly, the memory surged in, and placed the scattered pieces together so that he remembered what was going on with his life.
As the stinging pain throbbed in his head, he could not help but wake up.
He did not care about the pain anymore because he had remembered everything.
Jing Yiran opened his eyes, and the light made him close his eyes immediately.
He shaded his eyes and slowly opened them again.
As the fresh air entered his lungs, he suddenly felt the joy of being alive.
He was still alive?
He was alive!
He was not dead!
Jing Yiran tried to get up, slowly and stiffly. He had obviously slept for a very long time.
He felt very weak, but nothing else. Maybe he had not eaten for a long time but he didn’t feel hungry.
It did not matter, nothing mattered. As long as he was still alive, nothing else mattered. He could start afresh!
He was never going to forget the moment when the bullet entered his forehead.
He had been killed by Jing Yichen.
Although he was not sure how he survived, the old version of Jing Yiran was dead.
Jing Yiran could not think properly because of the stinging pain.
He calmed himself and surveyed his surroundings, looking outside the window.
The room was concise and neat, with white walls, white curtains and white blanket. It looked as if he were in a hospital, but he could not smell the antiseptic solution.
Outside the window, the lawn was green on which colorful flowers were blooming quietly, attracting numerous butterflies and bees.
Jing Yiran leaned against the wall feebly, saw the needles on the back side of his hand and the fluid dripping into his body.
Who on earth would want him to be alive? Who would want to save him despite everything?
That sweet scent of candy seemed to linger on the tip of his nose, making him feel happy.
Lu, what a silly girl you are!
Didn’t you hate me?
I used you, still you pulled me away from death. How should I repay you?
It was a huge debt.
Jing Yiran closed his eyes gently, breathing the fresh air and allowing himself to be bathed in the warm sunshine, feeling as if he had just been reborn.
A long time later, the door was opened and a small figure entered.
The small figure paused when she saw the handsome man sitting in bed.
She gained her composure quickly, came to the bedside and said in her unique baby-voice, “You are awake.”
Jing Yiran opened his eyes, and that made the figure standing by the bedside slightly startled.
He opened his mouth and said with a hoarse yet charming voice, “My baby, long time no see, have you been missing me?”
That intimate way of speaking, together with the unique tone and the sexy voice could make any woman fall for this man at this moment.
Lu’s heart skipped a beat, but soon she suppressed the feeling and replied calmly, “No, I see you every day.”
Jing Yiran sized up this little woman who had saved his life.
She was wearing black, tight-fitting clothes, showcasing her beautiful and sexy figure. Her long hair was tied behind, she had no makeup on her face, looking like an eighteen year old girl.
However, she was dangerous and that could not be ignored, especially when she had a gun in her leather clad hands.
She just pretended to be pure. Inside was a killer hidden.
Jing Yiran’s pupils shrank and he said with a nonchalant smile. “You look good in this outfit, better than the baggy sportswear you wore before. This fits you well!”
Lu threw a look at him expressionlessly and said in a crispy voice, “Really?”
Jing Yiran nodded. “Of course!”
“Since you are awake, I can get you something to eat. What do you want?”
Lu put the gun in her hands onto the belt around the waist. This simple move was smooth and looked absolutely natural on her. Apparently, she had done this many times.
Jing Yiran leaned against the wall and said casually, “Since my head is injured, I want to eat something to fill up the head. I want to eat tofu!”
Lu showed a faint smile, turned around to walk outside as she said calmly, “I thought that you wanted to eat a human brain. We are in a foreign land, but we have soybean milk, which you can drink now!”
Jing Yiran was displeased. “There is a huge difference between tofu and soybean milk. You can’t treat a seriously injured patient so casually.”
“They are from the same family, born by the same beans and have the same effects. That will help your pig-like head.”
Jing Yiran suddenly smiled. Looking at Lu’s slender figure, he said softly, “Thank you, Lu.”
Lu did not cease walking but replied calmly, “You are welcome, Jing Yiran.”
Jing Yiran stared at her and when she was about to walk out of the door, he said nonchalantly, “Or should I say, thank you, Angel?”
