Yan Xiaoran ran breathlessly inside the amusement park. She passed by several park goers as she ran. Looking around the park for her daughter was almost impossible. Thankfully, Fang Shaoteng didn't just leave her with a cryptic message. He also left his GPS on for her to locate him
She turned to a corner, feet aching from running too much. Yan Xiaoran saw the bushes where Fang Shaoteng and her daughter were hiding behind it. She couldn't stop feeling relieved when she saw the leaves shaking and smiling.
However, her smile didn't stay for too long because by the time she was several meters away from them, she saw a glimpse of her mother together with a group of men.
She frowned upon seeing them.
Yan Xiaoran debated something for a second. Then, without any hesitation, she turned her feet away towards the direction of the bush and darted towards her mother.
"Where the hell is he hiding! Look for them now!" Yu Jin Yan screamed at the men. "By the end of the day, if you don't bring my daughter back to me, I'll have you all beaten to death!"
By the time Yan Xiaoran was a few feet away from Yu Jin Yan, these were the things she heard from her.
Yan Xiaoran approached her without alerting the men around Yu Jin Yan before she said, "Mother, are you looking for me?"
Yu Jin Yan heard the voice with a tiny bit of familiarity in the tone. She frowned before turning her head to the side. The moment she saw who it was, her eyes widened up before narrowing into a glare.
"Yan Xiaoran!" Yu Jin Yan angrily exclaimed.
Yan Xiaoran slowly smiled at her. "It has been hard on you to remember my name. How long has it been? A year? A month? A day? Haven't you missed me? But I'm sure you missed the fun behind the cell."
Yu Jin Yan's nose flared as she glared at her eldest daughter. If it hadn't been because of Yan Xiaoran, she wouldn't be sent to the jail and everything she had in the past would still be there!
Recalling how she had suffered in the few days she stayed inside the jail, Yu Jin Yan couldn't help but shudder in disgust and fear.
"Where is she?" Yu Jin Yan asked.
Yan Xiaoran raised her eyebrows and asked in return, "Who are you talking about, Mother?"
"Don't play dumb with me, Yan Xiaoran! I know you have my daughter!" Yu Jin Yan stepped forward.
Yan Xiaoran didn't step back and still had a smile on her face. "Here I am mother. Why are you looking for me?"
Yu Jin Yan's expression on her face turned darker as she realized that Yan Xiaoran wouldn't tell her and was even playing her.
She looked around her and found the men still close by and told them, "Get her! She stole my daughter away from me! She knows where my daughter is!"
The men around her looked at each other. A bit of hesitation showed both on their faces and bodies. However, they still did as they were ordered.
Two of them stepped forward, a few steps away from Yan Xiaoran. If they stepped three steps forward, they would get so close to touch her.
But before they could do any of that, they heard her voice.
"If you come any closer, I will scream loudly that everyone in the park will look in our way." Yan Xiaoran warned all of them. "I don't think you would want that to happen, do you?"
The men clearly hesitated since they didn't get even more attention than they already had. Even though they were ordered by their boss to do anything that Yu Jin Yan told them to do in order to get her daughter back, that didn't include being caught by the police or getting too much attention that their organization would be in danger.
Sensing their hesitation, Yu Jin Yan was extremely mad and wanted to stomp her foot to the ground. She wanted to scream at them to tie Yan Xiaoran up so she could beat her up for everything that she did to the Zhao family and to her.
However, it seems that staying behind the cell bar did something to Yu Jin Yan's head and made her think clearer.
To her, Yan Xiaoran was no longer the innocent daughter she had in the past. She was no longer the child who would swallow all suffering and pain for the sake of her mother. And she was also no longer someone who would let anyone look down on her.
Then, what should she do?
Suddenly, a hand grabbed her by the elbow and pulled Yu Jin Yan back to her senses.
The beautiful face of her eldest daughter zoomed in her vision as she heard Yan Xiaoran spew out a mouthful of ruthless words.
"Who stole who? I'm also your daughter, mother. Why haven't I seen you looking for me when I disappeared? Why haven't I seen you when I was bullied in the Zhao family?" Yan Xiaoran couldn't help asking her. "You have a new daughter now, so you're doing everything you can do to take her back. Why didn't you do that when I was there for you?"
Yu Jin Yan hissed when she felt Yan Xiaoran's nails digging into her skin. She raised her head up in shock, surprise, and probably a tiny bit of guilt. However, those were soon replaced with hatred as soon as she remembered how she suffered after the Zhao family was ruined.
Yan Xiaoran looked into her mother's eyes and finally said, "You didn't do any of that because I was of no worth that time."
