Chapter 197 - I'll Give You A Chance

Having the truth slapped into her face, Yu Jin Yan took a while to react. She wanted to say something and try to throw off the hand holding her elbow, but Yan Xiaoran had already taken her hand and stepped back. 

Yu Jin Yan stared at Yan Xiaoran and did not regret anything she had done in the past. She angrily said, "Yan Xiaoran, the past is already the past. Don't try making trouble and use my daughter against me!"

Upon hearing her, Yan Xiaoran coldly snorted. She raised an eyebrow and said, "You really think too highly of yourself. Use your daughter against you? Don't you remember? I already took down the Zhao family, the one who supported you for a decade. Why would I want to involve an innocent soul in our past? I'm not like you or the Zhao family, Mother."

Slap after slap, Yan Xiaoran didn't stop shooting the bullet straight into her mother's chest. There was no need for her to be lenient just because the other was her mother because the latter had already torn the mother-daughter relationship between the two of them after she threw her into the Zhao family.

"But you're right. Past is past. There is no need for me to try to reminisce about our ugly past." Yan Xiaoran put her arms across her chest. "However, you have no right to take your daughter away."

Yu Jin Yan replied, "What do you mean by that? I am her mother, I have every right to take her!"

Yan Xiaoran laughed, "You are Xiao Zi's mother. But the court no longer recognizes you as her mother. Your rights over Xiao Zi were revoked the moment you used her for money and popularity. Besides, aren't you a runaway prisoner now? Do you think I'll allow her to live with a prisoner and a murderer?"

Yu Jin Yan choked. "Wha... what?"

Because she was taken to prison and was kept there for a few days, Yu Jin Yan had no knowledge of what Yan Xiaoran was talking about. She didn't know that as soon as Yan Xiaoran got Qu Ying Zi from an orphanage, she and Alexander took everything into their hands and handled everything to make sure that Wu Jin Yan would never take the child away from them. 

Even though Yu Jin Yan was the real mother, the court didn't recognize her as the mother since she had abused her title as the mother of the child; putting her in front of the media for money and even tried to endanger her life by letting a maid take her away only to be taken to another place. 

Moreover, just when the court was about to decide their final judgement, the news that Yu Jin Yan escaped from prison shocked everyone. Initially, they could still give her a chance to visit her daughter on a scheduled day and time, but after the news broke out, the court decisively took it into their hands and took away her rights. 

Now, Yu Jin Yan could no longer claim Qu Ying Zi as her daughter.

"Mother, from today on, Xiao Zi is no longer your daughter."

After suffocating from the knowledge that she could no longer take her youngest daughter, Yu Jin Yan roared loudly, "Don't talk nonsense! Yan Xiaoran, don't try to lie to me now and I'll give you an hour to give me back my child. If I don't see my daughter in an hour then don't think of leaving this place safely! I will make sure you'll suffer more than you did in the past!"

Yan Xiaoran looked at her mother indifferently. Her mother's threats didn't work on her, or rather, Yan Xiaoran was too sick of hearing the same thing over and over again that the desired effect didn't show on her face.

"Do you think I'm just talking nonsense, right?" Yu Jin Yan got angrier when she saw how calm Yan Xiaoran was even after hearing her threats. She pointed towards the men who were with her and smugly said, "I have several men to take care of you before the police could get here! Don't ever think you can escape from me!"

"Mother, don't make any trouble." Yan Xiaoran's voice was mild but the coldness in her tone was enough to make a man quiver. "Do you really think you're the only one who has people around you?"

Yu Jin Yan frowned. 

Yan Xiaoran replied before her mother could even ask her what she meant. "Look around you, mother. Do you really think all the people around you are just people who came to sightsee in the park?"

Upon hearing that, Yu Jin Yan twisted her head and really looked around her. From the moment Yan Xiaoran had appeared before her, she didn't notice that all the passersby who stood on the side to watch the drama were replaced by people who looked coldly at her.

The faces of these people were hard and one look could make you think that they were trained soldiers just from how they stood. Ordinary people could stand straight for a long time, but soldiers will have the stance of a soldier after being trained in the military for a while. Their stance was not that easy to imitate and only those who experienced the hell they had gone through in the military will know how to stand like that.

Since when did they come forward? Yu Jin Yan pondered and took a step back. She didn't know if Yan Xiaoran was telling the truth or if her words carried any credibility. She didn't even know if these people came here to capture her. However, there was no denying that she felt fearful at the thought that she would be taken to prison once again.

Seeing through her mother's thoughts, Yan Xiaoran deliberately said, "You don't have to be so afraid, mother. They weren't sent here from a police station. They're my people." Yu Jin Yan wore a stunned look on her face, but Yan Xiaoran didn't let her relax or feel relieved as she added, "But they could at least take care of your people and capture you to take you to the police station."

Yu Jin Yan took another step backward.

Yan Xiaoran didn't stop her and repeated what her mother told her earlier. "I'll give you a chance. Run or stay here to rot in prison. I'll give you an hour. If you're still here and try to take Xiao Zi from me again then forget about running away. I will chase you out of the country and never let you appear in front of me and Xiao Zi again!"
