Chapter 14：The King Decision

The bodyguard was trying to look for the butler to call His Majesty. First, he went to His Majesty's office. He knocked the door, but no one was replying. He then went to the kitchen to see if the butler is there. As he walked, he saw one of the maids cleaning the window.

"Do you know where the butler is?" He asked.

She looked at him and said "No. I don't know." She answered.

"Okay. Thank you for your time."

"No need" She smiled.

He walked again. He finally reached the kitchen and saw the butler instructing the maids about something. He reached toward him and said "May I ask you where His Majesty is now? I want to make a request to see him."

"For what purpose?" He asked.

"There was someone who attacked the Prince. I need him to come with me if His Majesty is available."

The butler exclaimed at what the bodyguard said. He calmed himself and said to the maids while going out from the kitchen "Continue your work without me."

He looked at the bodyguard and frowned "When did that happen?!"

"Well ... I was guarding the library and suddenly heard a scream coming from the garden. So I rushed to where that sound was coming from and saw the Prince ..... looking pitiful."

"I see ...." The butler said. He looked at him worryingly "I hope the Prince is fine. Ever since he became the Crown Prince, many things had happened to him. I am really worry about him."

"Will ... if you excuse me, I will go see the king to let him now." The butler said.

"Please tell His Majesty that I am requesting his attendance to come and see me. I will be in the dungeon waiting for him."

"I will let you know." He waved at him while walking away from the bodyguard.

"Where have you been?!" The head maid cried.

"At the garden." I said blankly while drying my hair with a towel.

"Do you know your father was worried about you."

"Liar." I said it thoughtlessly.

She said in a warn tone "Behave yourself. He is your father."

I looked at her sharply and said "Leave me alone. I want to sleep."

She sighed "At least you should eat." She looked at the bandage and said "I need to call the doctor to look at your wound."

"No need."

"You are stubborn."

"If you know, then let me sleep. I am tired." I said it blankly.

I laid on the bed and put my arm behind my head. After few minutes, I said in a faint voice "Stay with me. I am scared." I closed my eyes and continued "I don't want to be targeted again."

She patted my head and said "I will."

The door was opened suddenly when the king arrived.

"Where is he?" The king asked.

"There he is." The butler pointed at the bodyguard who was in front of the dungeon.

"You can leave now."

"Yes. Your Majesty." The butler leave.

The king walked toward the bodyguard and said "Where is the attacker?"

He went to where he was imprisoned and said "He is here Your Majesty."

The king looked at the attacker carefully.

"Your bodyguard did not believe that I am a guest here. Please tell him the truth!" The attacker cried. Both his hands and legs were chained.

"Shut up." The king said blankly.

"But ...."

"I heard everything what happened from the butler. And you are still talking to me casually like nothing happened! You should restrain yourself!" The king scold him with an anger tone.

"But I am telling the truth! I am a guest here for a while. I came with my father for some business here. If you do not believe. GO ASK FATHER!" He shouted.

The king's features were blank. No one could even know what he was thinking at that moment. He said to the bodyguard "Let him here until I ask you to free him."

"Yes. Your Majesty."

The king then commanded "Come with me."

The bodyguard followed his command and went outside with him. They reached the living room in the ground floor. The king called a maid to prepare tea and refreshments. He tell the bodyguard to sit down in front of him.

The king said after the door was closed "Tell me in details what happened."

"I will. Your Majesty."

He tell him all the details about how he found the prince until he saved him from the attacker. The king was listening carefully to every word he says.

"What I understood from you is that you were near the garden and hear the scream, so you rushed to where that sound was coming from. Then you saw the Prince was attacked by someone."

"Yes. That's what happened Your Majesty."

"I see." He rubbed his chin. Then said "What is your name?"

"My name is Elijah, Your Majesty."

"Baron Elijah?" He asked.

"Yes. Your Majesty."

"Mmmm ..."

The door was opened and the maid entered. She was carrying tea and refreshments on a plate and put it on a table.

"No need to serve us. You can go now." The king said.

"Okay. Your Majesty."

She left and closed the door.

"Well ... I think I need a personal guard for my son. And considering your actions today, it will be you Elijah. I assign you to be the Prince's bodyguard from now on."

Elijah's flinched "Huh?! ... I mean it is an honor to be the Prince's bodyguard .... but it is too sudden for me ..." He looked embarrassed by what he just said.

"Are you not satisfied?" The king looked at him carefully.

"No .... It is not like that Your Majesty. What I mean is that you choose me out of all the other knights and bodyguards who are much better than me."

"But you are the only one who saved him. Am I right?!"

"Yes .... You are right." He looked down at the floor.

"Of course there will be rewards for you protecting the Prince." He smirked.

"Thank you. Your Majesty."

"The butler will be giving you the contract tomorrow afternoon. You should read it."

The king stood up and said "I will go now." He reached the door handle, opened it and went outside.
