Chapter 20：After Three Years [ The End ]

I was not able to join the war for my protection. My father said that once he find my twin brother, he will officially announce the truths. The truths about my real identity and my twin brother's disappearance. His main concerns were the nobles whether they accepted these truths or not and whether the kingdom will be in chaos or not.

One thing that I am surprised the most was the one who attacked me, whom I don't his name yet, has a secret relationship with the spies from the enemy country, the 'DarkOwl' country. Those spies were disguised as the citizens of this kingdom to avoid suspicion. His main job was to inspect me and to know whether or not I am the real crown prince. His father, surprisingly, was the one who was ordered to assassinate me during that hunting competition. However, it was totally a failure mission. Both the son and the father were imprisoned. The main person who was behind this idea was someone whom Father was very surprised after knowing his identity.

It was confirmed that the person behind this was my uncle, my father's half older brother! Once I knew this, I flinched. It was really surprising for me. Later, I understand the main reason behind this. After several negotiations with him, I knew that he was exiled previously and forcefully went to a faraway country because of the treason. The treason was attacking my father whom he was recently crowned at that time. I do not know the details, but I am fully aware that they were conflicts between my father and his half brother.

Fortunately, we won the war and found my twin brother. My brother was found at the border near the enemy country. He fled before the haunting competition had started, which is why they thought I am the twin brother during that time. I was not able to see him after they found him, but according to Edward, he told me that he was tortured and was chained. He was treated badly that even his whole body has bruises. Edward then told me that after they found him, the knights began to suspect about my identity. They soon realize that something was hidden from them. So the rumors began to spread around the nobles' mansion. He told me that I should not worry since my father will deal with the rumors. He said also that he told Father that he knew about my identity. He took the courage to tell him about it so that he could help him to clarify the rumors. I was very touched once I heard that. He was sincerely trying to help me before that.

After clarifying the rumors, which was a hard process, Elijah was surprised that I am a girl. One day he asked me "I still do not believe that, it is still a surprise for me!"

"Hhhh ...." I laughed.

I sighed. I looked at him seriously and took the courage to tell him about my dreams.

"You know, I had dreams about a child who was playing with me when I was young. He told me that he wanted to become a knight so he can take me away from this place."

Elijah's eyes were widen.

"So, it was you! The girl from my childhood!"

From that day onward, Elijah has a big impact in my new life. Before, my father wanted to bring me back into the dark room and never showed up even though the citizen of this kingdom knew about my identity. However, Elijah took the courage and tried to convince him to not let me be in that dark room again.

"I will do anything if you make her stay here." Elijah bowed.

"Mmmm .... Will you do anything?" The king rubbed his chin and looked at him.

"Yes!" Elijah lifted his head.

"Then what about the proposal? I will let you marry my daughter."

Elijah blushed.

"If you agree, then of course I will make her the princess of this kingdom. However, I do not intend to let her stay here forever."

"Forgive my rudeness, Your Majesty. But what is the purpose of me doing anything to let her stay if you intend to make her leave?"

"I am not telling you that I will make her go back to the place again, but, instead, to your mansion. I do not want her to be in the castle doing her job as a princess."

The king sighed and then continue saying "I will make you directly the successor after marrying my daughter. It is a favorable situation for you."

"I see .... But you need your ... daughter's opinion." He blushed.

"She will agree if she will not go back to that place."

"Please don't force her." Elijah pleased.

"I see the determination on your eyes." The king smiled and continued saying "I will talk to her about that today."

"Thank you Your Majesty!" Elijah looked at the king seriously but shyly.
