"That's right. It is one of my two best options," Edmond didn't feel bad to accept Rulf's words because it was really one of the two best options he had thought of.
"What?" The old guild master raised his brows and surprisingly looked at Edmond because he had never expected Edmond to have these kinds of options.
"What can you expect from a man who only cares about themselves?" Rulf mocked Edmond after Edmond's agreement with his words.
"Rulf, if you don't stop speaking then I will give you your favourite punishment," The old guild master could not take Rulf's words anymore and asked him to stop speaking anymore.
"Edmond, what is the other best option you have,"
After giving the warning to Rulf, the old guild master looked at Edmond and asked him about the other option.
"Since we can't take on the second and third batch of the demon army, why don't we divert the demon army in another direction?" Edmond revealed a small smile on his face as he said about his second-best option.
"Huh? Can you explain a bit more clearly?" The guild master didn't understand about Edmond's second option completely. So, he asked him to explain it.
"If you don't mind, I will explain,"
Behind Edmond, Udo revealed a small smile and came forward to volunteer himself for the explanation.
"Sure. As long as it is explained in a clear manner, then I don't mind who is explaining...Haha," Thee guild master finally laughed after feeling frustrated for a while on the Royal family and the other powerful organisations.
However, seeing that both Edmond and Udo were going to devise a plan for them to face the demon army, the old guild master was finally able to feel relieved a little.
As usual, Rulf scoffed but he still listened to Udo's explanation.
Not only the guild master and Rulf but Darbaudr and the blood rose also started paying attention to Udo's words.
"What Edmond is saying is that before the third batch of the demon army comes here, why don't we divert the direction of the second batch of the demon army?" Udo looked at the guild master's face as he explained about Edmond's second-best option.
....
While Udo was explaining about the second-best option, all the mercenaries were already moved away from the second batch of the demon army and let them move towards the exit of the cursed wilderness.
"Captain, are we really going to let them go away just like that?"
"Brother, don't forget that we still have our families residing in the towns that are near to the cursed wilderness,"
"Leader, as long as I recover my spirit consciousness by half, I will go and try my best to stop the demon army,"
"Everyone, come down. As long as we recover our strength we will go back into the fight with demon army,"
"The guild master's intention is not to abandon the Zrochester province; however, he doesn't want any of us to die here,"
"Once this is all over, we need to show what an angry mercenary can do powerful organisations,"
To their squad members, the captains of the different squad replied in a loud voice which made all the mercenaries feel excited and started recovering their lost essence of nature.
Soon all the mercenaries followed their captain's idea and silently absorbed the essence of nature into their spirit consciousness.
.....
Back to the guild master's group,
"And what good will it do?" While the old guild master was contemplating about Udo's words, Rulf stood up from the ground and walked towards the group and scoffed.
"It…."
"Udo, you stop. I will explain this kid to understand in a much better way," Before Udo could say something, Edmond stopped Udo from explaining Rulf.
"Hmm"
Udo nodded his head and stopped speaking and waited for Edmond to speak.
"Diverting the second batch of the demon army to any direction will not do anything good; however, if we divert them into one particular direction, it will not only give us time but we will get help from those so-called powerful sects and great families. What's more, even the royal family will help us...Haha," After finishing his explanation, Edmond started laughing loudly.
"So, you are saying to divert them towards that direction...Haha," the guild master's eyes lit up when Edmond finished his explanation and praised Edmond, "As expected of you, Edmond. You never disappoint me."
The guild master started laughing for a while' however, suddenly, he thought of another problem.
"So, how are you going to divert those mindless demons?" The guild master pointed his finger at the second batch of the demon army and asked Edmond.
"Haha....guild master, you have really become old," Edmond jokingly said to the guild master before shaking his head as he was disappointed with him.
"Don't you dare to call me old again. You are old, you are family….," The guild master immediately stopped when he mentioned Edmond's family for some reason and sighed.
Edmond and Udo also became silent for a moment before Edmond spoke, "Guild master, do you forgot about the devil grass?"
When he said that Edmond revealed a cunning smile and continued to look at the guild master.
"Of course I didn't forget. How can I forget it," the guild master's voice became serious as he looked at the 10 blades of black coloured grass and continued, "It's not going to work, Edmond. A devil grass alone can't attract the entire demon army."
After saying that the guild master shook his head.
"Haha...I know," Edmond loudly laughed and continued, "A devil grass can't attract the entire demon army; however, what if I also have a devil fruit. What do you think will happen if I combine these two things."
Edmond revealed a cunning look as he looked at Rulf and the guild master before saying, "Also, I don't want any entire army to follow. As long as we can divert the first few rows of the demon servants, the rest of the demon army follows them like a bunch of sheep."
"What? A devil fruit? Where did you get that?" Rulf became shocked when he saw the black coloured fruit in Edmond's hands and asked him.
"Haha..." Edmond didn't give an answer; instead, he laughed and crushed the devil fruit along with the blades of the devil grass
"Rulf, you should never ask a fellow mercenary about the origin of the items," the old guild master stopped Rulf from asking any more questions.
"Yes, guild master,"
Rulf nodded his head and became calm.
'If my guess is right, he must have got it from that devil octopus mission,' the old guild master silently guessed the origins of the devil fruit and continued thinking, 'However, I didn't expect it is guarding a devil fruit tree in the depths of the cursed abyss.'
