271 Through The Scallops

Vy had cast healing spells on the rest of the werewolf pack under the moonlight to speed up the process. If they had access to a hot spring, it might have further sped it all up. But they made do with what they had.

"I'm glad to see you're all better," Vy said to them as she let out a yawn.

"We can't thank you enough, Vyrena," Darric expressed his gratitude.

After they had breakfast together on the beach, Vy and Lycster packed up their belongings just as the water gate reappeared. Laena, the lady from the day before, along with two guards came through to greet them.

"Are you ready, Miss Blackfire?" Laena asked.

Vy nodded and so did Lycster. Laena explained to them that before they could enter, she needed to know if they were able to breathe underwater.

"I have a water form, so I should be alright. But my brother does not. Not yet, at least."

Laena nodded and handed Lycster a small glass vial filled with a sapphire blue liquid. She explained that he was to drink it right before they entered through the water gate.

"But what does it do?" Lycster asked out of curiosity.

"It will allow you to breathe underwater and adapt to a suitable form for easy movement," Laena explained.

"But what happens after? When we come back on land?"

Laena handed him another vial. But this one was filled with a pale green liquid instead.

"This one will reverse the effects, so take it before you return back to the land through the water gate."

Lycster kept the green vial safely in his spatial storage and drank the sapphire blue liquid in one gulp.

Vyrena looked back at the werewolves, bidding them a final farewell, "Till we meet again, Alpha Darric."

"Till we meet again, Vyrena Blackfire,"

With their final exchange, Vyrena and her brother followed Laena and the guards through the water gate. Alpha Darric and his pack waited for the water gate to return to the seawater before taking their leave. For them, their task was complete. Now it was time for them to make their journey home.

Deep in the Triking Sea, the Blackfire siblings and their escorts stepped through the water gate on the Grey Coast and arrived in the middle of the sea. Vyrena took to a hybrid sea form immediately.

Her tail fanned out, almost resembling the frills of an elaborate dress. As she swam through the water, her fins and tail fanned out beautifully; like a piece of fabric flowing gracefully through the water. Aether was coiled around her wrist like a bracelet.

The boy was a quick learner, as he got the hang of it after a few minutes. The two guards and Laena all adopted merfolk forms as well. Laena now had a beautiful emerald green scale-covered tail with a twin tail fin.

As Vy and Lycster looked around them, they marvelled at the beauty hidden in the sea. They seemed to be nowhere near the bottom of the ocean. Looking downwards had no end in sight. Looking upwards, there did not seem to be a clear surface in sight.

Their surroundings were filled with schools of fish and other sea life swimming all around; with an abundance of coral reefs in different colours, shapes and sizes.

"Are we near the Trilantis?" Vy asked as she looked around them.

Using the tail fin, she spun herself around to see all around. But as far as her eyes could see, there was no city in sight. There were only corals, endless amounts of water and sea life.

Laena nodded her head, her hair floating around her as she did so, "We are near, but we would still need to travel for a bit. Follow me."

Laena swam towards the direction of a large coral reef filled with pastel purple coral. As they swam over the corals, Lycster marvelled at the many types of fish they saw. There were fish of all shapes and sizes.

Each looked so different and vibrantly coloured from one another. It was easy to tell them apart, but there were too many to name. After travelling through the water for some time, Laena led them into a cavern with two giant statues made out of well-placed pieces of coral.

The statue on the right was of a merman holding a scythe, while the statue on the left was of a mermaid holding a trident in her hands. Vy swam upwards to admire the work on the statue. She was impressed to see how the pieces of corals were fitted together to form each statue.

Seeing that Laena and the guards went through the cavern, Lycster and her quickly swam over to catch up with them. The cavern had a row of statues lining each side, leading to a guarded gate made out of two large scallop-shaped shells.

Upon seeing Laena, the guards saluted her. The guard on the left pressed a secret button. It activated the gate, where the two scallop-shaped gate doors retracted into the call on each side. Vy and Lycster gasped in awe as they saw what laid beyond the doors.

"Welcome to Trilantis," Laena proclaimed as they made their way through the door.

Once all of them were through, the guards promptly closed the entrance. Vy and Lycster continued to marvel at the sights all around them. Trilantis was a large city that they had never seen before.

There was nothing in the world that looked quite like it. Each building, ranging of different heights. Some buildings were tall and skinny with a round observation deck, while others were made out of a combination of metals and coral.

Laena explained that for today, they could move around Trilantis as they pleased. The next day, they will need to bring the cargo to their designated meetup location.

"Where would we know to meet?"

"We will send information to you, rest assured," Laena promised.

With her assurance, Vy felt a little more at ease. They needed a place to rest for the night, so Vy quickly asked Laena where she would recommend them to stay. After some thought, she suggested they check out Aqui Inn.

Laena gave them some directions on how to get to the location before parting ways with them. She also gave them some suggestions on activities and places they could visit during their stay.

"We will see you tomorrow, Miss Vyrena Blackfire." Laena bid them farewell before going back to her post.
