As soon as the morning broke in the Imperial city, painting the skies in the brightest shades of yellow, Han Ze Min left his penthouse in the Skyline condominium, getting all ready for their trip to Gui Xiang. 

Even though he couldn't fall asleep last night, he seemed to be in high spirits as he got inside the elevator, dialling Ming Yue's number.

All night, he was thinking about her, to be honest, he was worried about her staying alone with Wan Yi Jun. 

No matter how many times she had refused their relationship, Han Ze Min couldn't ease his mind as he felt that there might be something fishy going around in that house. 

Even at midnight, he woke up multiple times, thinking about returning to Wisteria gardens. Even he doesn't know how many times he cursed his decision not to stay with Wan Yi Jun. It's fascinating for him to realize that Ming Yue has made her way into his heart after a long time. 

The way she talks, more precisely, she argues and fights. It was impossible to believe that she was a maid. 

If they met each other in some other circumstances, he would have definitely mistaken her as a headstrong young miss of some wealthy family, a perfect match for him. 

If he had met Ming Yue before Wan Yi Jun, he would have already confessed. 

But unfortunately, he had to snatch her from Wan Yi Jun, before its too late. 

With a hum on his lips, Han Ze Min dialled Ming Yue's number, hoping to start his day on a good day. 

After two rings, the call got connected and Ming Yue's tired hello was heard from the other side.

"Did you decide?" It was the first thing Han Ze Min asked even before greeting her properly,

"About our deal? No, I couldn't sleep well, that's why I'm calling you early in the morning. There is going to be an important function in my family, so I should have a girlfriend by that time. I told you to take your time to think properly. Bye then, see you soon."

Just as he walked towards his car in the parking lot, a car harshly pulled before him and an angry Zhi Lan got out of the car, 

"Oh, Hi, good morning, Lanlan." Han Ze Min waved his hand while flashing a big fat grin at her,

However, other than shooting fuming glares at him, she spoke nothing.

"It seems like your morning is not that good. Tell mem Zhi Lan, which one of your friends got into trouble this time? Don't tell me, it is Xie Na." He teasingly added while pointing upwards, "I haven't seen her in a while. She didn't kill anyone, right?

"Why didn't you tell your family that you are not interested in the engagement?" Zhi Lan tried hard not to lose control as she listened to his scornful words about her friends. 

Actually, she came to visit Xie Na, who lives in the same building as Han Ze Min. However, she didn't expect to run into him, and the very first moment she saw his smiling face, all of her frustration just erupted like a volcano. 

Watching her reaction, it took a moment for Han Ze Min to gather his thoughts about their alliance.

"I did tell my family, and my mother even started to look other proposals for me. I thought my uncle might have informed your dad. He didn't?"

Han Ze Min replied in a playful tone, only to receive silence from Zhi Lan, who appeared agitated.

It seems like the Zhi family is not aware that Han Ze Min has backed off from being a potential suitor for their young miss.

"Ah, whatever. I'm seeing someone. So I will be officially out of the list, and you will be free from this arranged marriage or whatever our family wants us to do." For some reason, Han Ze Min's words put Zhi Lan's mind at peace as she agreed with him with a gentle nod.

"Maybe my uncle must have considered his other nephew as your suitor. Maybe that's why he didn't technically call off the alliance,"

As soon as those words fell from Han Ze Min's mouth, Zhi Lan felt she got struck by a bolt of lightning.

"You told uncle about Yi Jun?"She asked in a puzzled tone, unable to trust Han Ze Min, who tend to act like a total jerk sometimes.

"Well, I also need a reason to reject you. So I just admitted that you are already in a relationship with the good for nothing son of the Han family. By the by, did you make up with your boyfriend? That day, Cai Hong made quite a daring revelation." Han Ze Min stated as he recalled Cai Hong's words about his cousin and Zhi Lan's relationship. 

In front of everyone, Cai Hong revealed that Wan Yi Jun never reciprocated Zhi Lan's feelings even after all these years.

"Does it gives you immense pleasure to see others in pain?" Zhi Lan, whose eyes glinted in anger and pain, harshly refuted the man who stood before her, seemingly mocking her.

"Hey...I'm not a sadist," Han Ze Min shrugged his shoulders as he opposed her accusation with a smile, "Well, at least not to you. How can I hurt you, Lanlan? You are supposed to become my sister in law." 

Watching him pretending that he had never considered her as a potential partner, Zhi Lan seethed in anger.

"Sister in law?" Her reddened nostrils flared as if she heard something alien, "If you could have made it clear to my dad that you are not interested in me in the first place, none of these wouldn't have happened."  She continued to rebuke him for taking things far,

"Why should I tell your father? You are the one who told me that you like Wan Yi Jun. You could've told your father about him. But you didn't and agreed to meet me for a potential matchmaking date." Once Han Ze Min realized that Zhi Lan was blaming everything on him, he didn't hesitate to refute her in the same tone. 

"I know that you love your father, but it is your life. Everyone knows that you love my cousin, including your father. Yet he forced you to become my fiance. So you should talk to him and figure out things."

Just as Han Ze Min explained his side of the story, Zhi Lan's anger finally faded out. To be honest, she was the one who struggled to choose between her father's wishes and Wan Yi Jun. Even though she tried to inform her father about her feelings towards his junior officer, he has always avoided that conversation for some reason. The same thing happened with Wan Yi Jun too, whenever she mentions taking their relationship to next level, he always hesitates. 

And when she finally made a declaration, Wan Yi Jun refused her, quoting that he doesn't want to be with her.

"But Yi Jun said that...he doesn't..." Zhi Lan's words broke when she remembered how mercilessly Wan Yi Jun refused her after keeping her waiting for almost a decade. 

"Oh please, I know him more than anyone else. Though he acts like a lone wolf, without anyone's companionship, he actually is a homeboy who cares a lot about family and their feelings. He hesitates because of your father." Han Ze Min added with an enigmatic smile and gently leaned onto the bonnet of his car, as if he was trying to lead the conversation for a bit longer,

"I don't know what went wrong with him and your father, but somehow your father hates him."

"You also know about this?" Zhi Lan asked in a shocked tone, only to receive a similar reply from Han Ze Min,

"Yi Jun did tell me that my father..." She paused in the mid-sentence as an unknown pain suddenly washed over her, "...dislikes him and never approve our relationship."

Hearing her sudden confession, Han Ze Min's forehead creased in puzzlement. 

"I told him that I will talk to my father and change his mind. But whenever I try to speak about Wan Yi Jun he either changes the topic or brings your name. Nowadays, I'm just wondering whether he has already made an appointment to officially meet your parents."

When Zhi Lan felt that Han Ze Min was willing to lend her an ear, she let out all of her worries to him. 

"See, Lanlan. You are the only person who could solve this issue between your boyfriend and your father."

"As long as that conflict lasts, you will have no luck becoming the Wan family's daughter in law."

So good luck solving that."

"Also, aunt Sienna is coming home, and I and my grandma has been forcing her to visit your father. 

So it's better that you take charge and hurry things.

"Ahhh...also say Hi to Xie Na. It's been a while since I saw her, even though we practically live next door."

"Bye then, I have to rush."
