While Clyde was still wondering inside him, Ryden continued his merciless and cruel actions. Once is enough and Ryden raised the butler's face just to slam it down again in the next second. He did that multiple times until the butler's face was unrecognizable already
Although the maids also deeply hated the butler, with his current state, they can't help but also feel pity for him. I mean, just look at the butler! His whole face was already bleeding like there is no tomorrow but Ryden's anger still has not subsided. From the look of things, he planned on continuing
Now, the maids really think that they can afford to offend and hurt anyone but never the madman's wife! If not then they would be as miserable as that poor butler
"Y-Your Highness..." Clyde called out. His voice should only be filled with fear but there is something in it more than just that
Clyde knew that he should urge Ryden to kill the butler immediately but after seeing the current facial expression of his husband, the consort seems to have forgotten what the things needed to be done was
It's just that Ryden's current facial expression made Clyde feel something weird inside him. He cannot quite say it clearly with his words but Clyde kinda want to see Ryden with that expression a bit longer
A ferocious-looking Ryden seems to be more handsome than usual and Clyde's cheeks cannot help but blush
Unfortunately, no matter how much Clyde wishes for this moment to last longer, it still has its end. After Ryden vented his anger, he gave the butler's head one more slam to the floor and a loud cracking sound could be heard
That sound made the already cold bodies of the maids even colder than they already were. It was one thing to know what death is and another to witness a cruel murder
Unfortunately for the butler, the Empire is a completely different world than earth. On earth public murder would almost 100% be punished. But in the Empire, as Ryden is a Prince and the butler embezzled the Manor's funds, no one could find trouble with Ryden for his actions
In fact, even the Emperor and Empress will look bad if they were to punish Ryden for it even though people of their status can do that
As such, no one would give the butler's death justice
Even though the butler is already dead, that still was not enough to fully remove all of Ryden's anger. He was not only mad at the butler, but he was also mad at himself as to deal with a lowly person, his wife has to inflict self harm
This made Ryden bow to do better and gain more power so that a similar incident like this would never happen again
Ryden's facial expressions softened a bit as he carried Clyde in his arms back to their room yet even though they were already there and the act should be dropped, Ryden's facial expression was still bad
"W-why do you still look angry... w-we do not need to act anymore" Clyde said softly, a great contrast to the tone he usually used to his husband
"Was that really necessary?" Ryden did not answer the question and he instead spoke out his own question in a bad mood
"What are you talking about?" Clyde was clueless at what Ryden meant and he was confused
"Hurting yourself"
"Well, not really but it would give out the best effect. Not to mention, it can help stop people's dissatisfaction for you killing the butler" Clyde answered
If Ryden killed the butler for the embezzlement although other Nobles and Royals would do the same without receiving any backlash, Ryden might not be the same. As such, Clyde wants to avoid the incident being used against them as much as possible. Hence the reason why he has to slap himself
"Don't do that again'
"Huh?
"Harming yourself. Don't do it again"
"B-but sometimes, it was necessary"
"I don't like it, I don't like seeing you hurt"
Although Ryden did not try to sound sweet, it still made Clyde's cheeks red. Those words tug on the strings of his heart making him feel warm inside
As a result, Clyde can only lower his head out of embarrassment

Empire's Border
Isondale City
Standing on top of the fortified and bloody city wall used to put the invading monsters at bay was an alpha wearing flashy clothing
It was gold and blue in color which was quite a contrast to the dull colors that the soldiers in the border city were always wearing
The man standing on top of the city wall with Knights all around him has a handsome face but with how arrogant he looks, his face can make people feel a bit disgusted
This Alpha was none other than the 1st Prince of the Empire - Navca Carstensen. The oldest among all the Princes and Princesses. The one with the most seniority and also the 1st in line for the Throne
However, although he was the 1st Prince, he does not have the ability that the eldest Prince should have. It was mostly because of the pampering and spoiling of his own mother
As the first born and also a union between the Emperor and the Empress, the 1st Prince would most likely inherit the Throne and in return make his birth mother the Empress Dowager. They would have the most power and the Queens and other Imperial Princes can only bow their heads at them
Because of priority for the Throne, no Nobles would try to offend the 1st Prince. Not to mention, his mother always tried to keep him safe and away from any harm. In other words, Navca was pampered his whole life
The way people interacts with him also made him think that he was better than everyone else. As such, although he does not have any prior experience in war, he was still as confident as ever as if everything would go according to what he wanted
"Your Highness, the monsters are nearing the walls. It is still not too late to fortify our defense" a Knight said in almost a pleading tone. The Prince's confidence is a good thing but only if it was used in the right way
"Sir Amito, I will not change my mind. As the Knight that my mother, the Empress entrusted to help me, do as I say" Navca said in an unfriendly tone
The Knight Amito is sort of a military advisor that the Empress gave to his son. However, as an arrogant man, Navca thinks that no one is better than him and he did not take the military advisor's advice kindly
"But Your Highness! If we do not mobilize the walls' protection and if we were to fight the monsters head on, we would have far more casualties than we should have. We cannot just fight the monsters directly" The Knight reasoned but his words not only did not change the Prince's mind, it even anger him
"Knight Amito! Did you not hear what this Imperial Prince has said?! As the Commander in chief, all of you must listen and do as I say!" The Prince snapped, apparently already fed up at the Knight that wants him to change his decision as if it was foolish one
No matter how much Amito wants to convince the Prince, in the end, he still failed and the monsters soon entered his vision
Despite the numbers of all sorts of gruesome and disgusting monsters that Navca never saw before, his foolishness still help him maintain his full confidence
In fact, instead of feeling great fear, Navca only became really excited
"That foolish illegitimate brother of mine always use the walls in the border to defend the Empire. As for this legitimate Prince, I do not need something like that. I can defeat these monsters on my own without the help of these walls!" he said confidently
His line of reasoning was quite foolish and dumb. Navca always hated his brother for being hailed as a war god and the sword of the Empire. It made him feel inferior although he was the legitimate Prince between them
As such, Navca wants to perform better than that brother of his. If Ryden always utilizes the walls and he was praised as a hero then what more if Navca can defeat the enemies even without using the walls?
Would that not prove that Navca was much better than that illegitimate brother of his?
He was indeed a foolish Prince and the ones that would suffer because of his foolishness was the soldiers in the borders
When the Monsters were close enough, Navca gave out his order. "Open the gates and kill them!" he shouted
Soon, the sound of the gates being open rang and soldiers poured out from it. They started fighting the monsters with superior physical and magical abilities than most of them in a direct fight without any sort of planning
If not for the additional Knights that the border gained after Navca became responsible for it, surely there are more people that would die in just a single battle
However, even then, there are still many people that died than usual thanks to the Prince's foolish decision
