Chapter 42 - NOT EDITED YET

Seeing the result of this skirmish, the 1st Prince's face was completely red from age as if he just witnessed his own wife giving him a green hat

Outside the protective walls of the Isondale City were corpses from both the monsters and humans

However, the human corpses are significantly higher compared to the monster corpses

After all, monsters always have superior strength compared to humans whether that be their physical or magical power

Fighting them head on with common soldiers without any plan or protection is a foolish idea that would result in this

The Prince thought that with the Knights provided with him by his mother, things would go really smooth

However, aside from thinking that his foolish plan would actually work, there is also one thing that he does not understand 

His Knights are indeed Elites but it's not like the Empress can give an entire army. If the Empress did that then just what would the Emperor think? His eldest son has to have the support of an entire army just to deal with the monsters that his illegitimate son can deal with just by himself and the already available soldiers in the city

Not to mention, although these Knights are elites they mostly fought against a fellow human. They are skillful when it comes to sparring but they don't have any prior war experience nor have they really saw just how vicious the monsters are

As a result, whether it be the soldiers already stationed at Isondale City or the Knights that Navca have with him, both of them resulted in heavy casualties 

Even someone as foolish as Navca understand that he made a foolish decision after seeing its result

No doubt that he would lose a lot of face because of this. Not to mention, the gazes that he was receiving from the surviving soldiers were far from being friendly 

It was only Navca's status as a Prince rhat prevents these soldiers to spoke out their grievances

"What are you all looking at? You all are incompetent! You can't even defend the Empire properly!" Navca exploded, still having the guts to scold the soldiers although he was the one in the wrong

However, as prideful as him would never acknowledge that he made a grave wrong. He can only credit today's humiliation with the fact that the soldiers with him are completely unreliable 

"Damn it! Clean these up! That's the only thing that you trashes can do!" Navca said loudly before walking away

He didn't even personally participated in the battle but he has the face to scold the soldiers like that

Those that have seen the 7th Prince in action can't help but compare him to the incompetent he was replaced with

No doubt that if Prince Ryden was here, things would not be like this. The casualties wouldn't be this high

The Prince might be foolish and dumb at normal times but when it comes to the art of war, he was unparalleled 

The people at the Capital although knows that Ryden was formidable but they still look down at him because of his status and reputation 

However, the people at the borders are completely different. They all revered Prince Ryden as he always protect the city from any invader

He was the person that they need and not the incompetent and foolish Prince that they currently have

7th Prince's Manor

Clyde can be seen in the Manor's garden having his afternoon tea yet in his hand was a piece of paper containing the letter from a subordinate of Ryden back at the Isondale City

Clyde calmly read the letter and he feel both happy and guilty. He was happy as the letter contained the report about the 1st Prince's incompetentcy. No, he wasn't just incompetent, he was a big fool

With the Prince being like this, no doubt that the Emperor would be furious. This was a big damage to the 1st Prince credibility and Clyde can't help but sneer

The 1st Prince is the one that his half-sibling would marry to give him support to inherit the Throne

The two are already engage but the shrewd Duke of Rothland has to make sure that his legitimate omega would marry the Heir of the Throne

As such, he stalled for time and he planned on waiting until the 1st Prince was announced as the Crowned Prince. Only then would he happily let the two marry

However, with Navca's display of stupidity, seems like the announcement of the Throne's Heir would come later than sooner

This development was to Clyde's liking but at the same time, he has something to be guilty about

If things went like normal and Clyde did not interfere, the 1st Prince wouldn't be sent to the borders that in return kill many soldiers

Those deaths are in Clyde's hands and he felt guilty for it. However, he was also just trying to survive and no matter how guilty he is, he can only continue forward to maintain the current peace and safety

"What did it say?" Ryden asks as he put a flower wreath on top of Clyde's head

The wreathe wasn't beautiful as one would expect from Ryden's craftsmanship but it still made Clyde's cheeks a bit red

Seriously? What is wrong with his husband? After they slept together and the butler incident, this husband of his became more attentive to him than usual

It comes to the point thay sometimes, Ryden alread look like Clyde's servant

No doubt that it warmed Clyde's heart as no one was like this to him before but at the same time he felt a bit uncomfortable as he wasn't used to it

Could it be that Ryden was doing this to sleep with him again?

While thinking that, Clyde can't help but raise his guard. Was that really the case

As husband and wife, it is natural for them to sleep together. Not to mention they already did it once

It's just that Clyde's skin was too thin in that area and he doesn't know if he should let Ryden do it with him again

"T-things went as e-expected" Clyde answerd softly. He almost cannot use his usual harsh tone with Ryden again as the Princr took really good care of him 

It has been months already since the butler incident and in those months, Ryden spoiled his wife with and without the presence of other peope

With a person like that, how can Clyde continue to be fierce?

"Really? That's great. We are one step closer to achieving your plans" Ryden said happily and Clyde can only nod his head. He was still overwhelmed by the sudden change of attitude his husband has

"Also, I think I am already back at my peak. Fighting with a sword feels natural to me again" Ryden informed him and Clyde was happy

Indeed, this was really a piece of good news. With Ryden regaining his strength that was powerful enough to be considered as a wargod, their safety would be more secure

"That's great! You worked really hard! Why don't you rest for now?" Clyde said generously 

Before, they badly needed Ryden to regain is peak power. But now that he already achieved that, Clyde thinks that his husband deserves some rest

"No, my former is not enough. I want to be even stronger" Ryden said seriously and Clyde glanced at him with furrowed brows

To defeat the current Ryden, one has to mobilize their armies already. However, this man was saying that he wants to be even stronger? If he really became stronger, how else could others defeat him?

However, before Clyde can voice out his concern, a certain brute was already running towards them

"Boss! Your Highness!" David's loud voice rang in the garden and Clyde's mood instantly soured

Even after months, he was still bitter at David for being the one that drugged him. It comes to the point that Clyde wasn't able to stop himself and David saw the real him

As such, Clyde don't bother hiding his real personality to David anymore as he seems really trustworthy 

"Boss, Your Highness, the first batch of the wine is finally ready for consumption! Here, I brought some samples!" David said and showed the wooden box in his hand that contained the said wine

This wine was Clyde's business venture but after seeing them, his face can't help but twitch

After that night with Ryden, Clyde always avoided wine as if they contained plague inside

Only now did Clyde saw wine again and he can't help but remember what happened that night

"I'm excited! I bet that with Your Highness' wisdom, the wine from your recipe is tasty!" David said excitedly

As a form of venting Clyde's resentment for David, he turned this brute into a servant

Clyde had him do all sorts of job that he doesn't even have to do as he isn't reallt a servant of the Manor

However, David happily did all of them without any complaints
