81 Chapter 80: Vampires don't sparkle

Name:Part Wolf Author:obsessedWithWolves
Elize took the last folded piece of clothing from her bag and shoved it into the cupboard. With a satisfied smile, she looked around her new room which was now at its cleanest. The space was quite big for just two people to live in. It was twice the size of her bedroom in her mansion back at the Island. When compared to the last hostel she had stayed in while in school, this was luxury at its finest.

The floor was carpeted and there was wooden life sized carved partition between the cupboard and the rest of the room. Just behind that was a long plush couch with a polished wooden tea table in front. The door to the balcony was closed, keeping the cold wind from coming inside. Agatha had long finished unpacking her luggage and was lying down on their king sized bed on the opposite side of the room.

The witch had a book in hand, one she recognized from the collection of Anna's cheesy romantic novels. She was so engrossed in the book, that she probably didn't realize that she was biting her nails, Elize thought shaking her head.

"You're at it again Agatha." She said, sitting down on the other edge of the bed.

"Mmhhmm." Agatha replied, biting off another chunk of a long nail from her scrawny index finger.

Elize quickly leaned in and plucked the book right out of the witch's hands, hiding it behind her back.

"Hey! I was reading that!" Agatha whined, pouting her lips in complaint.

Elize shrugged and tossed the book to the nearby side table. The book landed perfectly on the surface with a thud. She then turned back and leaned in to take Agatha's hand in hers. Giving her a tight squeeze, Elize smiled happily.

"I'm glad it all worked out for the both of us." She said, with a sigh of relief.

Agatha nodded her head and squeezed back her hand. With a wide grin she exclaimed, "So am I! We are going to have so much fun here!"

Elize laughed at the reply. Her friend's mood had gone from whiny to crazy excited in the span of less than a second. Agatha was quite simple like that. She was glad that she had such a friend by her side. She suddenly started feeling guilty again. She owed her a proper apology, Elize thought.

With a determined look, she said, "Hey listen, I- I'm really sorry for whatever happened back at the Island."

Agatha waved her free hand at her dismissively. "Pfft. Not a biggie." She said, with a shrug. "Even I would have reacted the same in the situation."

Elize wasn't convinced. She knew that her friend was just saying that to make her feel better. Agatha was such a loyal friend that even if Elize asked her to drink poison, she'd do so without asking any question. It was she who failed as a friend, not the witch. It was she who was self absorbed, not her friend. Hence, she wasn't ready to buy the explanation.

"But still-"

Elize laughed at the statement. Agatha had been going on about guys from the time that Irina had dropped them off at the hostel. For a moment she had doubts whether that was the sole reason that her friend wanted to get admission in the academy. She had gone on and on and on about the stories that she had heard from someone who's someone studied in the institution. She had finally stopped when Elize had mentioned Zack. Without bothering to listen to her, Agatha had turned around and walked away from her, shaking her head, saying something about being bored. She had then started reading the cheesy novel which Elize had just tossed aside moments ago. And as soon as the book was gone, the witch had begun again.

"Uhh! No! I don't want to listen to this again." Elize whined turning away from the witch.

"Yess!!" Agatha said, grabbing her shoulders. "This school is home to all kinds of creatures- not just witches and werewolves. Like you've seen, the Vice Principal of the academy is himself a Kelpie."

"Yeah I'm going to have to get used to that." Elize said, rolling her eyes.

An image of the handsome Kelpie flashed through her mind. She quickly shook her head, reminding herself that she had Zack- her mate who she might have pissed off so much that he had run away from her.

"You're going to see many more like him." Agatha said, ignoring her comment. "Kelpies are quite hot generally and I've heard that they're great in bed." She said dreamily.

"I didn't need to know that." Elize said, crunching her face in disgust.

For some reason she couldn't think about that particular aspect of a Kelpie. Yes Kelpies seemed to be good looking. But at the end of the day they were water horses! How can water horses have sex with witches?! What was Agatha even fantasizing about?!

"Besides them," Agatha said, "youll get to meet elves, element spirits, animal spirits and rarely even a dragon or two. Oooh dragons are the hottest out there!"

"Right..dragons and elves. Why didn't I guess that." Elize shook her head sarcastically.

She was still unable to wrap her head around the idea of mythical creatures existing in real life. Of course she shouldn't have been surprised at this as she herself was part a mythical creature and part a being who could perform magic. But of course, there was always the initial shock as new information flooded in.

"Even the human guys here are rumored to be the hottest on earth." Agatha said dreamily, lying back on the bed, clutching a pillow tightly against her chest.

"I have a mate Agatha." Elize said, pointing a finger at herself. "I don't need to know all that. But thank you for walking me through my childhood fairy tales."

"You think I'm joking?" Agatha asked, suddenly sitting up with a surprised expression.

"Of course not. I don't know what's a bigger joke- my life or the fact that every fairy tale I've read exists in reality."

"Well the tales aren't always accurate." Agatha said scratching her head awkwardly.

"Right, of course." Elize said, with a huff. "Witches aren't ugly and werewolves can't be killed by silver. Wait, why didn't you mention vampires?" She battered her eyelashes, faking innocence, as she looked at her friend pointedly for an answer.

Agatha shivered. "Why would you mention such vile creatures?" She asked, with a disgusted look.

"Vile? Why are they all ugly or something?" Elize asked sarcastically.

"Ugly doesn't define it." Agatha said, leaning forward. "Vampires are a class of demons who prowl the darkest places on earth in search of a prey. On a normal day, they survive on human blood. They're creatures who are well versed in the art of illusion and seduction and that is how they attract their prey. Although they usually stick to human blood, they need blood with magical properties at least once in ten years to survive."

"You mean witches?" Elize asked, now curious.

She didn't think that her ironical statement would lead to an actual explanation. Besides, the part about the vampires wanting witch blood intrigued her.

"Any creature of magic will do but witches are their favorite as our blood is more potent in magic than any other being." Agatha said as a matter of factly. She shook her head with a glum look and continued, "Sadly, our blood doesn't burn them unlike the werewolves, instead the surge of magic that they absorb from us can get them into a high so addictive that they'd come back for more. An adult witch can easily overpower them but children and lower tier witches are easy prays for the creatures. The more magic they consume, the more powerful they become and hence their illusions get better and it becomes harder to kill them."

Elize's mouth fell wide open. That was not the explanation she hoped for. In her mind, vampires were supposed to be the most perfect supernatural beings. At least according to all the fiction that she'd consumed her entire life.

"So they don't sparkle in the sun then?" She asked disappointedly.

Agatha's right brow raised at her question. She looked at her as if Elize was crazy. "They're creatures of the night. Not many can walk the earth during the day. Of course there are exceptions. But they definitely don't sparkle. Beneath their illusions they're dark creatures- much like wraiths, but slimy and gross." She said, scrunching her nose in disgust.

Elize shook her head sadly. "You just shattered my image of the most perfect creatures in my head."

"For the better." Agatha said, throwing a pillow at her.

Elize quickly ducked before it hit her face. Agatha laughed until she spotted a pillow flying right onto her face. And just like that, things were better between the two girls who were now immersed in a pillow fight in the dim light of a lone table lamp. Very soon, the two plopped back on to the bed, exhausted and breathing heavily from their activity. The girls lay there, with wide smiles on their faces and their limbs sprawled over the entire surface of the huge bed, cotton balls stuck on their clothes and hair.
