"Agatha did you see my bag?" Elize asked, peeking under the bed.

"Which one?" Agatha shouted from the bathroom.

"The one in which I kept my notebook and the pens."

"It's on the couch." The reply came.

Elize stood up, dusting her black jeans. She turned towards the large couch in the drawing area, her gaze searching for the item in question. She sighed happily as she spotted her teal backpack sitting on the edge of the leather couch. She quickly covered the distance, picking the bag up. Making sure that everything that she needed was in there, she closed it with a grin.

"Found it! Thanks!"She shouted towards the bathroom.

There was no reply. She could hear Agatha sing at the top of her lungs. Elize shook her head, grinning from ear to ear. Her friend seemed to be quite excited for the first day of college. She had woken up earlier than usual and even brought food for the both of them, quite unlike her usual self, Elize thought as she walked towards the balcony. She was quite excited herself. After all, this was her chance at a new beginning. She kept a hand on the railing and peered down. She could see the entrance of the hostel from where she stood.

At that moment, it was crowded with students as well as witch trails. Groups of girls got inside the huge coaches and one by one the carts lifted off into the sky, each ridden by an old witch in black. Although she was initially scared of the particular travel method, yesterday's ride back to the hostel had warmed her up to it. She knew that they had to get going if they didn't want to be late. And Elize definitely didn't want to make a bad impression on her first day of class.

"Hey I think we better get going. There's a huge crowd downstairs." She said, walking into the room.

"Just a minute!" Agatha shouted from the bathroom.

"Hurry!" Elize whined. With a sad sigh she said, "Damn I miss teleportation. If only I had my powers, I wouldnt have had to wait with the crowd for the stupid witch trails."

"So? How do I look?" Agatha asked, finally done with getting dressed.

Elize raised her brows in surprise. Her friend was standing in front of her, dressed in a short black dress and white ballerinas. The clingy dress which only reached half way down her thighs, hugged every curve of her body tightly. Her long blonde hair was tied up in a pony, high on her head. The witch looked like she was going for a modeling gig rather than her first day of school.

"Uhhh what's with the dress? Do you want me to lend you a pair of jeans?" She asked, confused.

"What?! No!" The witch exclaimed, a horrified expression flashing on her face.

"Too much legs on the first day of college is not a safe choice." Elize said clucking her tongue.

Elize looked checked out her own choice of clothes. She had on a black crop top and black washed out jeans with white sneakers. She didn't find anything wrong with her choice of clothes. It was just the right amount of skin and clothes for the first day of class. Besides, her blue jeans was in the laundry and shorts was not an option for today.

"Fine. Don't take advice from me." Elize said with a shrug. "You'll know when you get there."

"Whatever. Let's go!" Agatha shouted, bolting out of the room.

Elize quickly followed behind, for she still wasn't brave enough to go through a portal on her own. Soon the two reached in front of the hostel, just in time to catch the last witch trail standing.

"Hey! Wait!! We're coming!" Agatha shouted, rushing towards the carriage.

"Where to?" The old witch asked, giving the girls a side way glance.

"The main building please!" Elize said with a huge grin, recognizing the woman from yesterday.

"Get on quickly. I don't have time to waste." The woman said, looking away.

"Thank you!" Elize shouted back, quickly getting inside the box.

Just as Agatha was getting in, a meek voice came from behind her.

"Hey umm, can I join you guys?"

The girls turned towards the voice, only to see a tall girl with long brown hair smiling awkwardly at them. Her dark complexion and bright blue eyes made her appear breathtakingly beautiful. Yet, for some reason, the girl appeared to be quite unaware of her good looks and quite shy on the outside. From her pointed ears, it was apparent that she was an elf. Her character and her identity seemed to be quite contradictory for Elize who from yesterday's incident had categorized all elves as arrogant and rude.

Elize doubtfully began, "Uhh- I'm not sure-"

"Of course join us!" Agatha said excitedly, cutting her off. "Come on let's go!" The witch waved to the elf.

With a shy smile, the girl quickly walked over and entered the carriage. She sat opposite the two girls and awkwardly shut the door. The witch trail took off to the sky, pushing Elize back into her seat. She tried her best to act cool in front of the two other people inside the box who seemed to be un affected by it.

"You look pretty." The she elf said, smiling at Agatha.

"Gee thanks." Agatha said, trying to suppress her giggles. "I'm Agatha, what's your name?"

Elize rolled her eyes. Great. Another threat to their friendship. How many more was she supposed to ward off?! And why were they all elves?! Where did all the normal people go?! Elize whined in her mind, irritated by the presence of the stranger.

"I'm Firyr." The girl answered.

"That's a pretty name!" Agatha exclaimed. "What does it mean?"

"It's not that pretty." The girl called Firyr said, shaking her head. "It means the bringer of darkness. Everyone says that I am cursed."

The she elf's face dropped. Elize suddenly felt bad for the girl, seeing in her a shared history of being an outcast. The memories of her school days came back to her. There was not one day that her classmates failed to prank her and call her names. They had teased and taunted her at every chance.

"I'm sorry." Elize said, reaching out to pat the girl on her hand. "No one should have told you that."

Firyr smiled half-heartedly.

"Going down!" The messenger witch shouted from outside.

"Hold on." Elize told the she elf with a warm smile.

---

"Please maintain decorum in the hall." A voice spoke from the overhead speakers fixed on all corners of the large hall. The same message kept repeating again and again over the murmur of the students. Everyone was busy writing their courses down on their application forms. Elize had already decided to take the same classes as Agatha, whatever that might be.

"I told you that you're going to regret wearing that." Elize said, shaking her head at Agatha.

The witch pouted, expressing her irritation."But I thought-"

"Nice rack witch!" A high pitched voice sounded from ahead.

Elize turned towards the direction to see Aerin walking towards them with her army of blonde elves trailing behind her. The she elf had an arrogant smirk on her face. Unlike yesterday night's dinner, she was dressed in a long airy white dress with long puffed sleeves. The click of her heels echoed throughout the room, turning heads as she walked past groups of students, busy writing down their course applications. Strangely, Firyr retreated behind Elize as soon as she saw the elf army. The first thing that came to her mind was that Aerin must have bullied the girl as well.

"Fuck off Aerin." She said, flipping her finger at the she elf.

"And what are you dressed for? Someone's funeral?" Aerin asked Elize with raised eyebrows, faking surprise.

"Yes, yours." Elize retorted.

Aerin's face twisted in anger. "You-"

"Beat it brat." Elize said, waving at the elf dismissively. "I don't have time to spar right now."

"You'll regret this!" Aerin shouted, shaking her finger at her.

"You keep saying that." Elize dismissed her with a shrug.

"Humph! You're nothing better than gold diggers!" Aerin cursed. "Mark my words- you're never going to get Legolas! Even if you try to take others to your side." She said, pointing towards Firyr.

"Didn't say I wanted him. I'm already taken." Elize retorted.

Aerin huffed. "Yeah right. Who would-"

"Elize!" Legolas's happy voice echoed through the hall.

"There comes your brother." Elize said with a satisfied smirk, pointing at the elf running towards the group. Aerin gritted her teeth in irritation.

"Aerin what are you doing here?" Legolas asked in a surprised tone, coming to stand next to Agatha.

"None of your business." The she elf spat before turning and walking away towards the admission counter.

"Are you okay?" Elize asked, turning towards the frightened Firyr.

The girl nodded meekly, keeping her head down.

"I hope she doesn't end up in my class." Agatha said, crunching her face.

"Ditto." Elize said with an annoyed expression.

"And who is this?" Legolas asked, raising his eyebrows at the she elf.

"Oh this is Firyr. We just met her a while ago."

"Hello, I'm Legolas." The elf said, extending his hand towards the girl.

Firyr nodded shyly, blushing at the gesture.

"Tch. Leave her be Legolas. She's shy." Agatha said, shaking her finger at the elf.

"Woah! You look gorgeous!" Legolas suddenly exclaimed, looking at Agatha.

"Thank you." The witch said with a wide grin.

"Don't indulge her elf." Elize warned shaking her finger at Legolas. "She can grow on you pretty fast."

Legolas laughed, leaning against the wall. He slowly took out a folded paper from his pocket and offered it to her. "The girl from the Disciplinary Committee asked me to pass this on to you."

"What is it?" Elize asked, taking the paper from him.

"No clue." Legolas said with a shrug.

Elize unfolded the paper hastily. Knowing that it came from the disciplinary committee made her anxious. She had planned on staying clear of the bunch like her friends warned her yesterday. Why would they take interest in her when they didn't even know her? What did she land herself into this time? Elize thought anxiously.

*Come to my office as soon as possible. Urgent.*

*Your favorite Kelpie,*

*Lloyd.*

Elize was horrified at the neatly written note. Did the flirt use the committee to get to her?! And what did he mean by "your favorite Kelpie"?! Stupid water horse! She cursed in her mind, quickly crumpling the paper before anyone else could read it.

"What does it say?" Agatha asked curiously.

"Nothing." Elize lied. "I'll meet you guys in an hour okay? Be somewhere near the entrance of the cafeteria."

"But-" Agatha protested.

"Later!" Elize shouted as she took off in the direction of the Vice Principal's office.
