160 Main Base: Part 3

Tuesday, 25th of June 2021. 28.4076588, -40.7259076, North Atlantic Ocean, Main Base. 1000 Hours.

Warm coffee and a breeze of cold wind were one of Patrick's friends as he inspected the crash site of his jet. It turned out that the landing gear was stuck in a very big hole and ripped it from the jet. As a result, the left-wing of that fighter jet hit the ground and was ripped apart from the plane.

'Nathan is not going to buy me another jet either. Shit' Patrick sipped his coffee. The cold wind breeze of air was disturbed by the smell of gunpowder in the middle of the day. Apparently, someone just threw a buoy into the ocean.

"Light 'em up!" Nathan said.

The Stryker IFV was equipped with a 20mm autocannon and it was shot at the buoy that was thrown from the VLFS.  The operator of that autocannon shot the autocannon at the direction of that buoy. It exploded into small pieces as HE 20mm rounds hit it.

"Good job!" Nathan shouted.

The VLFS was really a floating platform in the middle of the ocean without any content. The content of the blueprint that Nathan used was either outdated or the building of the VLFS was never completed in the first place.

There were no sections on the VLFS, the only thing that could be found was the nuclear reactor and the engines room. The command center didn't exist either, there was a reason why the contractors slept on the floor last night. There was simply no structure on that VLFS.

The VLFS also looked worn out. Some of the floors on the top deck of that VLFS were stacked or simply full of holes. Nathan really had bought broken merchandise from Herring.

"Patrick, what's up?" Alex approached Patrick from behind.

"Not good." Patrick showed his broken fighter jet.

"I see. A nice setup isn't it?" Alex looked at the sky and the empty metallic floor of the main base. Patrick just squinted his eyes.

"Nice setup? No missiles, no CIWS, no air defense, no anti-ship missiles, and no docks," Patrick said.

Nathan heard the ruckus and he decided to walk to both of them. Patrick insisted that buying the VLFS from Herring was a big mistake.

"200 million dollars... That's discounted right?" Patrick asked Nathan.

"Yes, the real price should be around two billion dollars," Nathan said.

"Two billion dollars for an empty island in the middle of the Atlantic. Herring is quite a salesman isn't he?" Patrick shook her head while putting his hand on his head.

Nathan put his PDA on his hand. He pressed one button and a hologram appeared in front of their eyes. The hologram contained four options.

[Mission][Base][Map][Personal Setting]

He chose the [Base] option and another three menus appeared on the hologram.

[Building]

[Research and Development]

[Resources]

[Staff Management]

[Placing Defense Weaponry+Fixing The Main Base]

[200,000,000$. Proceed?]

[Yes|No]

Nathan clicked the [Yes] option and weapon emplacements begun appearing out of nowhere. It didn't even give the contractor a chance to realize that a missile silo had appeared right beside them. Its main purpose was to launch cruise missiles.

"Wow, where did it come from?" Patrick asked. He was standing right on top of a lid of a missile silo. The silo contained a mix of anti-ship missiles like Brahmos missiles and RIM-66 standard missiles. There were also anti-ballistic missiles like RIM-161 and Arrow 3 missiles.

Those missiles would obliterate any target ranging from a ship to an ICBM. There were also some close-in-weapon-system on the edge of the VLFS. Most of them were the Russian Kashtan CIWS which was equipped with dual 30mm Gatling guns and anti-missile missiles.

The hole where Patrick's plane landing gear fell out also had disappeared. It was just simply gone out of nowhere. The hole was sealed.

"Ok, we definitely have a working base now, but how are we suppose to eat, train, sleep, etc," Patrick said as Nathan went to a nearby staircase and went to the floor beneath them.

Nathan opened a menu to build buildings inside of the base and he spawned multiple buildings inside of the VLFS.

[Confirmation of building the primary platform]

[140,000,000$] [Yes|No]

Nathan clicked the yes button and the building started appearing. The first building was the living quarters where the contractors could rest and straighten their legs.

"Alright." Patrick looked at the three-story building in front of him. There was a parking space in front of that living quarter, most likely to accommodate the contractors' car. However, there was one structure that caught their attention. It was a huge building that took almost a third of that big VLFS. That building was the main command center for the SDC. It was painted in blue and went as far as the ceiling of the VLFS.

Nathan entered the main command center building. The front section of that building was a reception office where the secretary greeted anyone that entered. Unfortunately, that position was still vacant.

They entered the next room that was located right behind the reception. In that room, monitors were everywhere. There were some office boxes in that room, they were most likely to be the main operation room for their operation in the future.

"This is the command center. We'll get our mission from here. The more personnel stationed here, the more mission variety we can get," Nathan said in the first room of that command center. There was more than one room on that command center.

"Wow, such an amazing feat," Patrick commented. The command center was very huge and the one that would be employed there was the Intelligence team member that would be led by Stacy and Ryan since both of them were the master of Intelligence on the SDC.

"Alright," Patrick said and both of them walked outside of that building.

Apparently, the other buildings were built too. There were many building such as the armory, the logistic building, the R\u0026D building, and much more. They also needed some staff to fill the positions that were empty inside of that main base.

"Ok, so how we will get the personnel to fill this place?" Patrick walked amount the building that surrounded him.

"Simple, just recruit them with this," Nathan gave Patrick a tubular thing that almost had the same length of his unfolded tactical baton. Patrick pressed it and it was some sort of scanner that would scan the body that was placed on the ground. However, the subject needed to be unconscious and not moving anything while the subject was being scanned.

It was a kind of cheat ability since any person that was scanned would be immediately placed on the base as a staff. Their skill level would be decided by the scanner that was integrated into their binocular. The scanner would scan the talent of the said person and put him/her inside the perfect role. All the contractors had to do was to tranquilize the subject and scanned his body with the scanner.

"One more thing, we're one thousand meters away from the nearest mainland. How are we supposed to kidnap any of them?" Alex protested, but a plane came from above of the VLSF through a ramp. It was the V-22 Osprey. The osprey could perform a mid-air refueling and had a very large range.

"Hi guys, Nathan said you guys need a ride in this new aircraft," Aiden greeted from behind the cockpit of that V-22.

"Yup, let's embark people!" Nathan said as he changed his loadout to his usual combat loadout. Patrick and Alex did the same thing and both of them walked to the back of the Osprey.

Nathan checked on the contractors that were on the plane. He wanted to check whether they were the only one there, or the other contractors might have the intention to join.

After six minutes of waiting, the ramp was finally lifted to the top of the VLFS again. The rotors of that aircraft were immediately unfolded and Aiden started the engine of that Osprey. The rotors started spinning as Aiden pushed the throttle of that osprey forward.

The rotors spun faster and the Osprey took off from the ground. They flew to the west direction with the intention to kidnap several skillful people.

They didn't have any huge expectation since Latin America was not a place where you can get very high-quality combat personal unless they were going to the Guantanamo bay where the US special forces were stationed.

"Nathan, where is our destination?" Patrick asked as he held his assault rifle on his hands. The assault rifle was loaded with tranquilizer bullets that should put the biggest elephant to sleep.

"A narcos hideout in the southside of Cuba," Nathan said. The Osprey continued its flight to the west direction.
