177 Why I Became A Contractor: Part 15

Wednesday, 14th Of March 2018. 2000 Hours.

On that evening, the air was blowing coldly. The streets of the town were empty. The wind blew the dust and the falling leaves from the ground. Here I was, standing with my rifle in my hands.

Several things considered, this was the first solo job. I wanted to make sure that I prepared everything properly. The detonator was in my hands and the mine has been placed inside a plastic bag in the middle of the street that would probably be mistaken for another trash.

The cars were approaching from the south direction. Three of them to be exact. All were painted black. They were the cars of government officials. They were my prey for tonight. I would do this efficiently.

Click-click.

The anti-tank mines exploded. The first car was thrown off the road and the other cars stopped. The bodyguards opened the window of their cars. Little did they knew, I was one step ahead.

I pulled out my RPG-30 and blasted the car with a tandem warhead. The car exploded. The only car left was the one which my target used. I switched to my rifle and shot the tires of the car.

7.62 bullets blew the tires of the car. My left hand touched the handle of the car. I opened it and aimed my rifle at the interior of that car. The target pulled his handgun.

"Haha, nice play." He shot his pistol at my body. Bullets hit my ballistic armor and my faces. The bullets broke my balaclava and almost revealed my face.

The target dropped his pistol to the floor of the car. The driver was speechless as I wiped the wound on my face that was coming from the bullets. "Sayonara." I threw a hand grenade into that car and closed the door.

I walked away from that car. The car blew up. Debris was thrown away from the burning wreckage of that car. I walked away.

The city became quiet again. The sound of the burning metal was the only sound. The air was warm. It was warm from the burning fire right behind me. The smooth evening was accompanied by the sound of notification coming out from the app.

[20,000$ have been transferred]

The massive amount of money made me want to buy something expensive again. First thing first, going home was at the top of my priorities. I went back to my motorbike that was parked not so far away from the street where I was killing the target. I rode the motorbike back home after I changed back into my civilian.

Once I arrived at my own house, I parked the motorbike inside the garage. The house was empty as usual if not for the appearance of the cleaning robot which I had bought a few days ago.

My house had been furnished again since the death of my parents. I also put some surveillance cameras around the house. The paranoid inside of me got the better of me. I just couldn't sleep without being awoken in the middle of the night just because of random noise.

I headed for the living room. I let myself lay on the comfy couch. The couch was comfortable and it would get me the most secure position on that house. Basically, I couldn't be ambushed in the living room.

I put my rifle right beside me and I turned the television on. The news on the television was the ordinary news. Murders, corruptions, and gossips were the only thing that was available on evening television.

I forced myself to watch that news to keep me updated. There was this news that got my attention. It was about a mass murder that happened inside of a house. The murderer was using bullets that weren't available in our country. I immediately assumed that it was me.

I smirked as I watched the police investigating the murder scene. I left absolutely no traces on that murder scene, even if they found me, they would not dare to arrest a little girl like me. It was simply an impossible thing that they would do.

I entered my planning room to plan my next target. I hadn't taken care of many targets in the last few weeks because school made me busy. But now, I was quite free at choosing my target.

The next target was Sissy's grandparents. Those two were living forty kilometers from the town. It was quite a short distance. I could use my vehicle to get there.

The target was located in a residential area that was in the middle of a valley. It was the elite area for the rich in this town. It wasn't a surprise for both of them to be living there since their son was actually a minister.

According to the Intel that the Armory System gave, the residential area was quite well guarded by multiple different bodyguards that were hired by the owner of those houses in that area.

The guards would immediately call the police and their own emergency response team if there was any disturbance. In short, I could accidentally invite the swat team into the target's house.

The only way to do it was to do it stealthily. The only time I could do a stealthy mission was at night and I would prefer that tomorrow evening would be raining so I could assassinate both of them.

I closed the computer and headed outside of that planning room. My room was the next destination. I needed to do some homework before I went to sleep. I sat down on my study desk. I opened my bag to grab my book and started doing those assignments.

The maths and physics were the hardest assignments of them all. Both of them were involving some calculations which I had no idea how to use those formulae. Nevertheless, I finished the works with the help of my girlfriend Tara.

As I finished my homework, I wanted to go to sleep, but someone was calling me. It was an encrypted phone call coming outside of the armory system app. According to the display on the screen, it was Charlie who was calling me.

I picked up the phone and she immediately called me for an emergency mission. Apparently, she needed my help in taking down a branch of a well-known cartel.

Lynn: "Charlie, I'll come, but why? You can do your sniping job alone right?"

Charlie: "Well, no, sniping job is best with a spotter. Come to the Haries building."

Lynn: "I'm on my way."

Today would be another sleepless night for me. Charlie needed my help and I felt powerless to refuse it since she was still Echo's friend and must obey her.

I stood up from my study desk and grabbed my phone. I went to the garage and rode my motorbike again. I got away from the residential area after I changed into my combat loadout. I didn't have any sniper rifle, I was hoping for Charlie to give me one, but it was simply an impossibility.

Wednesday, 14th Of March 2018. 2200 Hours. Haries Building. Old town.

The thirty-story high building was located in the middle of the town. On the rooftop, there was this one woman in front of the railings with an anti-materiel rifle in her hands. She was aiming it in one direction. The direction was at a building somehow far enough for Charlie to get a clean shot.

"Ah, Lima, come, the sniper is yours." Charlie stood up from her probe position. I immediately put my eye on the scope and scanned it for any target. Meanwhile, Charlie used her laser marker to mark the target for me to shoot.

"Alright. You're too left. See the guy with a mustache?" Charlie pointed her laser pointer at a high-rise building, but it was shaky and the laser had dissipated too much once it reached the building.

The clue didn't help me at all either. There were more than six people with a mustache. I needed something more specific since killing six people at once was simply an impossibility.

"What else?" I asked.

"He's wearing a black vest."

I scanned the building again. It didn't narrow the search, it only made the search bigger since almost everyone was wearing black attire at that banquet.

"It's not helping. Is there another clue?" I asked.

"Let me see. He's wearing sunglasses."

There were three people at that banquet that had a mustache on their faces and I just needed to figure out who was Charlie's target and who was the innocent bystander.

"Charlie. I need more clue." I asked her again. Charlie scratched her head many times and she sometimes put her hands on her face.

"Wait..."
