183 Why I Became A Contractor: Part 21

The C4 created a major explosion and broke the wall. Smoke and rubbles were coming out of the wall as we moved our hands multiple times. The smoke was thick. We saw the source of the signal immediately.

The source of the signal was coming from a phone located on that wall. There was also a hole inside the wall. It looked like that Sissy used this hidden escape route to escape. There was a trace of blood in that room.

"Shit, we lost her again." I threw the phone into the ground and smashed it with my feet. The phone was nothing more than a burner phone with her SIM-card.

There was this ladder that led to a room downstairs. The room below was colored white and it looked like that it led to an escape tunnel.

"Move." Echo bent a glowstick and threw it into the hole. Echo noticed that there wasn't any trap inside of that room. We could proceed safely into the tunnel which Sissy used to escape.

Echo put his medium machine gun on his back and he started climbing down the ladder. I put my MG on my back and followed Echo to the floor below us. Sierra got into the ladders shortly after me.

The metallic noise came as we put our feet in those ladders. We headed downstairs. The floor was located below the ground floor. As we arrived at the floor right beneath us, we arrive in some sort of tunnel complex. Many branches might lead to someplace that was vastly different from the others.

"Shit. We're not going to capture her." Echo looked at those tunnel branches.

"Fuck." I stomped my boots on the ground. Chasing her was an impossibility. I couldn't do anything. The only option I had was to get back to my home and took a rest.

"Yeah, RTB people. Mission failed, we'll get them next time," Echo said as he looked at the tunnels. He decided to climb back up the stairs again.

I climbed up the ladder, one by one as I looked at the floor below myself in a major disappointment. Sissy had run away and there wasn't anything I could do at that time.

We got out of the mansion and Charlie had been waiting for us in front of the mansion inside of the Chevy itself. All of us got inside the car and Charlie asked us, "Man, how's the mission?"

"Failed. Sorry. Sissy had run away," I said.

Charlie just responded with a sigh. She put the gear of the car to drive and she drove the car away from the mansion. The revenge mission was failed.

Charlie drove the car in front of my house. I was dropped in front of the house and all of the contractors that were with me waved their hands at me. I waved back at them and I entered the house shortly after they dropped me there.

The house was eerie as usual with the cleaning robot sweeping the floor as usual. I grabbed my phone and switched back to my civilian load out. My bag wasn't broken since I switched to my combat loadout seconds before the claymore was detonated.

My eyes were closed and I immediately went to the dream world. I let myself floated on the void of time and space.

The afternoon nap was over, it was the time to prepare for dinner and many other things. I went back to my kitchen in my school uniform and prepared myself to cook dinner. I wore an apron on top of my clothing.

The fridge was full of meat from my last purchase. I celebrated the 100,000$ milestones by purchasing a lot of meats. I cut the meat into smaller pieces. some vegetables into smaller pieces and put them inside of the pot.

The water inside of the pot was boiled and I turned the timer on my phone. I waited for the vegetables to cook and the meat to tenderize itself. I went to my living room. I pressed on my remote and turned my television on.

The show was news as usual with stories about the economy of our country and the policies of our country. It was very boring for a school girl like me. I just watched it since there was nothing else to be watched by me.

I waited for two hours and the meal inside of the pot was finished. I didn't take too long until I turned off the stove. I took my portion of soup and poured it inside of the bowl.

The small serving was enough for me alone and I brought that bowl into the living room. I ate the soup calmly as the television was tuned into that frequency.

After I finished my meal, I put the dirty dishes into the sink. I washed the dishes by myself. After that, the TV was immediately switched to the cartoon show which I enjoyed the most. I laughed so hard at that cartoon and I even did not realize that Sierra called me again due to him requesting my help.

The phone rang again and again when I enjoyed those cartoons. I didn't want to accept that call since Echo wasn't my boss any more. However, he called me repeatedly.

I decided that picking up my phone was a good idea so I did that. The call was immediately connected to the Echo's phone. Echo called me with a contract offer that I needed to take care of. The mission was to rescue a certain VIP from a location in the middle of the old city. The description of the mission was I needed to rescue a girl from inside of the apartment.

I lazily stood up from my chair and went back to the garage to pick up my motorbike. I switched back to my combat loadout and I rode back to my motorbike.

With my remote, I opened the garage and hit the gas as hard as I could. My next destination was the abandoned building overlooking the apartment which housed my VIP. It didn't take anymore longer than sixty minutes for me to arrive at that building.

If one saw the building, it was just an abandoned office building that was no longer used. However, the windows of those buildings were broken and a person was waiting inside.

I walked inside of the building with my SCAR-H in my hands. I didn't know what I had to expect, but I knew that it wouldn't be good since the apartment which was targeted by me was heavily guarded by an unknown force.

Inside of that abandoned building which was very dark, I saw Echo was laying down on the ground with her assault rifle in front of him. He aimed the rifle at that building.

"What's the matter?" I asked.

"Nothing more than a pesky foreign agency searching for our targets. Those people would be entering the building in six minutes. Let's go!" Echo said to me as he stood up from the ground and picked his rifle up from the ground.

We walked outside of that abandoned office building and took a major shortcut to access the apartment building in front of us. There was simply no way we could get past that guards without being asked too many questions which would waste our time.

Echo's idea was to access the employee elevator through the side of the building. That way, he could avoid any unnecessary interaction with anyone that might have any hostile intention at them.

Echo ran as fast as he could to the apartment building. He wasn't sure whether that plan would work or not, but the success of that mission was counted on his brains and his planning which was very rushed.

I felt that Echo was a good team leader, but most of the time, he was very lucky and chance dependant. He would do any dangerous plan as long as it was efficient since he believed in his allies and the contractors very much.

The stairs in the side of the building were locked. Echo grabbed his tactical crowbar from his back and pried open the door. We forcefully opened the door and gained access to the building.

We entered the building and the next thing we had to do was to find an employee card. It was an easy job and I immediately tackled one of the security guards inside of that apartment building. The guard turned unconscious and Echo grabbed his key card from his body.

We immediately ran to the nearest elevator and Echo clicked the elevator button like crazy. He wanted to get out of that floor as fast as he could. The elevator door opened and we entered that elevator.
