192 Why I Became a Contractor: Part 29

Aline made coffee for both of us. I sipped the coffee as I smelled the victory coming in front of me. Julian was a very good intel source. It had been no longer than two hours and we already had a lot of intel. It was a good sign considering destroying a drug cartel branch required a lot of effort.

"More?" Aline held the coffee mug in her hands.

"Yes please." Aline poured more coffee on my mug.

Aline smiled smugly. She knew that I was happy which was a good sign. Aline knew that I wouldn't be doing any suicide in a short period of time, but she couldn't guarantee that I would stop my chain of revenge. It was not her decision to stop that, all she could do was to support me and hope that I didn't die in the process.

As the clock kept rotating, the night slowly turned into morning. Aline had to sleep since she still had school to be done, unlike me who was taking refugee in the bunker. "I'll go for a nap. Do what you want, but don't mess this bunker up." Aline stood up from the cafeteria chair and she headed back into her room.

I continued drinking that coffee as I saw the news on my phone. The news was as gloomy and dark as usual. There was an article that described if this country fell into a civil war. The news clearly told that the degrading economic condition would potentially create some rebel groups. This was bad for the whole nation's stability and would further crash the economy.

Furthermore, the assassination of Sissy's father further degraded the economy up to the point where our country had to sell its assets to the United States as a guarantee for a loan. The amount of the loan itself was one trillion USD which was a lot of money to be borrowed from the US.

This would put the nation's non-block stance towards the US since we basically couldn't do anything since they could retract the bond at any time they wanted which was very bad considering this developing nation still needed a lot of money.

I walked out of the cafeteria after putting those dirty cups into the dishwasher. I headed back to my room to retrieve all of those data that had been sent to the server inside of the bunker. The data was compiled from interrogation logs that Kilo and X-ray recorded for me.

My task was to retrieve all of that intel and used it in my next assault plan. I opened the door to my room and headed for the studying room where the computer was waiting for me. I logged into that computer and started opening those E-mails that Kilo had sent to me.

[Interrogation Log #1]

I logged on to the CIA spy camera and redirected it to the only train yard in my town. It turned out that there was a container parked in front of one of the warehouses there. Not stopping there, it seemed to be that there was a weapon exchange happening right on those that container. If that was the loading supply of the cartel, it would be a very bad thing for us since that weaponry was military-grade.

The first log was over, it was the time for the second log. I tapped into the next e-mail.

[Interrogation Log #2]

Second Interrogation. The time is 0100. The informant told X-ray that they were looking for a girl named Lynn McGrath. Well... I think you know better about this, don't you? Well, it looks like you can't get out of the bunker without being incognito. There are six sicario groups looking for you all the time. Better be safe than sorry.

Our informant said that his boss, Farl, would like to suggest the principal move you out of their school. That way, he could remove you faster since nobody would miss you for your dead.

[Interrogation Log #3]

Third Interrogation. The time is 0130. Still about subject Lynn McGrath. It seemed to be that Farl provided a refugee for a girl called Sissy. It seemed to be that subject Lynn McGrath pissed him off so badly that he wanted to kill her by his own hands. Intel suggested that three cars are always waiting in front of McGrath's house. Julian said that if they kill her, their boss will give them a promotion.

[Interrogation Log #4]

Fourth Interrogation. The time is 0145. The informant is quite fucked. Ambrosia cartel's main hideout is located in the north of the town in a large mansion located on the hill. The hill itself was surrounded by the houses of elite cartel members. A direct assault without an armored vehicle would be impossible. However, if there is a small civil war inside the cartel, it will be a piece of cake.

If you can, it is a good idea to find the chain of command inside of the cartel and trigger a civil war among all of them. A power vacuum will do the job nicely. You just have to choose who you'll assassinate in the future. I recommend going straight for the big fish, but it would be quite a worthwhile task.

I looked at the surveillance satellite again and looked at the area located on the north side of the town. The north side of the town was for the elites. The security and the speed of the armed response team in that area would be faster than normal. It was surprising that no one had suspected that area. It seemed to be that the area was owned by the cartel.

I would ask Sierra to hack into the city mainframe again so I could see the list of the people who were living there. It was no easy task since I had to enter another government building to plant a virus inside of their mainframe. Well, as long as it's going to achieve some hard result, I wouldn't care too much about it.

[Interrogation Log #5]

The bloody fucker killed our informant. I always know that using too extreme methods would result in unreliable results. Well, he is dead and there's nothing we can do. However, his last words were quite interesting. His last words were Mariposa. Yeah. Butterfly. What can it possibly mean?

I closed the computer and gathered my mind about those intel and filtered what was reliable and what was not. I would just say that the only useful logs were the first, the fourth, and the last logs. It was not a surprise for me if the intel spewed out bullshits since X-ray methods could be too cruel.

I went to my bed and turned on the TV. There was something interesting on the TV. The TV showed the house of the minister whom I assassinated. There seemed to be an ongoing investigation on that house. The news reporter kept asking about the murderer to the police, but the police were as clueless as they were.

The police had the lead by analyzing the 9mm bullets, but that was the only reliable lead that they could find. 9mm bullets weren't something readily available, even on the black market. The police kept their mouth shut about that assassination. They didn't want to tell the reporters further and asked them to leave the crime scene.

Well, contractors knew what the police thought about that crime scene, but it wouldn't be publicized to the public. The police suspected that black operatives from the western block were assassinating the minister due to the recent decision that he made.

In conclusion, It wouldn't be published to make sure the ties between the two countries remained the same without any single disturbance since it could mean that the U.S would take away all of their loans and left us poor.

I just smiled at my genius plan. It was not every day that I could make a plan that smart than it confused the police into thinking that I was a black operator. Well, they were not wrong, but I wouldn't approve of being called a black operative since I was a contractor.

I turned the television off and went to the bathroom for a shower. I took all of my clothes and put it on the dirty laundry rack. I took a shower to clean myself from my upper body to my lower body. It was refreshing. After I finished, I changed into my pajama and headed for my bed.

I put my phone right beside of me and set the alarm to wake me up at six in the morning. I plugged the phone into the charger and put it away. I pulled the blanket into my body and closed my eyes.
