228 Ambrosia Cartel: Part 35

"It was long, where the hell have you been? Commander." Lynn stood up from her chair.

It looked like she was on a mission before. It was evident by the tactical gears that she wore and a Crye Airframe helmet on the table in front of her. There was also a SCAR-H on top of the table. There were also some bullet holes inside of the bulletproof vest.

"A trip to the main base, as usual. Where have you been? That's a railgun, isn't it?" Patrick asked as he pointed his hand at the railgun that was located in the corner of the room. The ammunition and battery were taken away from their respective slots since those components had been taken away by Lynn.

"An operation as usual. I have to hit an armored convoy in the middle of the highway. It was nothing fancy. I was there as a lookout, not a combatant. The combatant was the special force team which dressed up as a cartel," Lynn said.

"Hmm, I see. Matamoros cartel, eh?" Patrick asked.

"Yup, the Matamoros cartel. It was a perfect cover, the government would suspect that it needs to bolster its security and thus increasing their needs for our service. I could say that it's a win-win situation for us. For them, it was not," Lynn said.

"Well, never mess with contractors. That was the golden rule of thumb," Patrick said.

"Yeah. They will never know what hit them until it is too late," Lynn said as she stood up from the chair where she was sitting.

The sky outside was still bright. The sun was still located above their heads and the activities inside of that base were still crowded. People were still running and maintaining something around the base. It was evident from the glass walls of that living quarter that people were still working while Patrick and Lynn were still sitting down inside of the receptionist room.

"So, what did you do there?" Lynn asked.

Well, Patrick hadn't told the reason for his leaving Lynn since she was still asleep on his bed when Patrick got up off the bed. Telling her the plan of going to the main base wasn't going to work either since Lynn tended asking more and more questions if she was really curious about something.

"I was there to meet Natham. It was fun with a lot of drinks and a lot of booze," Patrick lied.

"I see. It's not weird to see some of our friends have turned into a drunk person nowadays," Lynn said.

"You're right, Patrick. That's why I choose you," Lynn said.

As Lynn stood up, she walked to the corner of the room and put the railgun on her back and her rifle on her front. She wore her helmet again and both of them walked outside of the living quarter. The outside of the base was full of noise. Lucky for Lynn, she was wearing a comtac so she couldn't hear any damn thing.

Both of us were heading for a stroll in the base since both of us needed to know what was happening on the base. They wanted to know the success that the current commander had contributed to the base. One could see that the current commander had built many new things from an emergency tent inside of the base. Hell, even there was a ping-pong table near the field where some of the soldiers used it to run and exercise.

"Wow, we have done a lot, haven't we? In the past two years," Patrick said.

Lynn just nodded. For Patrick, it was a weird experience where she was turned into a girl more than once and almost got killed more than once. It was quite a decent experience, but he certainly didn't want to repeat those experiences. Living as a girl was quite a jarring task for him since he didn't know how at first. However, he also got used to it at the end of the day.

"Yeah. I don't know about you, but it seems that we have gone through all of the hard times. It might be a good time to relax and enjoy the show," Lynn said.

Lynn was looking for a break soon. Ambrosia's cartel might be her last loose end before she turned into someone that was very innocent and very kind. Lynn had always been kind to multiple people inside of the base and it made her famous among the soldiers and the officers. It was hard to say that Lynn wasn't attractive since I had her to be my girlfriend.

"Yeah, more like a weird journey for me and a redemption journey for you. I have to say that I was surprised to see you as a contractor for the first time," Patrick said.

"Yeah, I bet my arse that it was hard to see me as a contractor instead of a loving and caring girl that would be always by your side at any time. I couldn't fulfill that promise, but I would try my best as your friend and your next wife," Lynn said.

"Yeah," Patrick responded before he looked at his own phone.

There was an update on the location of the hideout. The hideout was located twenty kilometers from the southeastern gate of the Panamian base. Well, it was an easier find than Patrick had expected. He would request a bombing run later before deciding that going for the big one was safe enough all by himself.

Since Panama had felt into HSDC jurisdiction, they would not blame us for bombing the forest since we could cover it up as a bombing that was done to the terrorists. Well, Patrick would give that task to the commander of the base. It wasn't his task to handle any government agency that wanted some explanation on the action that they would have done in the forest tomorrow.

"Patrick, what's wrong?" Lynn asked.

"Nothing. Sorry, I was looking at my phone and Shaddam sent a very funny video," Patrick said.

Lynn nodded again and Patrick looked at his phone again. There was detail on that bunker. It was said that the bunker was located inside of the ancient civilization and it might be under the protection the international law. Well, for starters, HSDC didn't fall under international law since it was powerful enough to defend itself from a surprise invasion from any superpowers.

The bunker was a hidden bunker that was created for the president of Panama to protect the president from a nuclear blast. The trees in the forest should prove to be more than adequate to reduce the amount of force being applied at the bunker. However, they need a heavy-duty bunker-buster as well since the bunker itself was designed to protect them against the nuclear bomb.

"Patrick, what's wrong? You're not yourself," Lynn said.

Patrick had to admit that he was indeed looking for something, but he needed to think hard on how to explain it to Lynn without her knowing the truth about the fact that Farl was still alive. It might be a good idea to tell Lynn, but Patrick didn't want to surprise Lynn as well since she could turn unstable again and do some crazy things.

"Nothing. I just need to call in some bombers in a cartel hideout twenty kilometers away from the gate," Patrick said.

"I see. Just call it then," Lynn said.

Patrick called in the bomber squadron from the radio and the request was acknowledged. Multiple people were coming out of the hangar and bombers were loaded with bombs that could penetrate a very thick concrete. It didn't matter whether it was designed to withstand a nuclear blast or not, a bunker buster should open the bunker easily.

Multiple bombers were taking off from the sky and their escorts had taken off first since they would be the ones that escorts the bomber from a distance to make sure that the bombs hit the target instead of being destroyed mid-air. Patrick looked at the clock and he saw that the clock had shown that it was Three in the afternoon. Patrick would tell Lynn about that thing that she would do with him.
